I used Samplism on Mac (license version). It was very intuitive, easy and beautiful app. Now I'm back on Windows since a while and I use almost ADSR Sample Manager. Very similar...and totally free.

I use shaper a lot in manual mode for effect racks. You can alter the curve of macros, and also setup multi stage macro knobs using shaper.

Im sorry but what you said about "Cosmos" is not true. It is ofcourse DAW integrated. At least the coresponding sampler "CR8" from Waves is. It is a feature rich sampler plugin thats capable of everything you could whish for. There is a "browse" button which will open up "Cosmos" for you to pick a sample. (Although I have to admit that the sampler should have been called "Cosmos", like the manager.)

i'd like to share a favorite melody & bass writing method. i call it "streamlining". #1) you play a melody/bass with as many notes as you "feel" like playing. #2) decide on just 1x note to take out & see if the line still "works", either by keeping the vibe or matches your vocal/syllable/melodic math, etc. #3) repeat step #2, over & over again UNTIL the "structural integrity" of the line no longer holds up. stop removing notes once the idea becomes compromised & now, you should be left with "all the right notes"

I like using locators in my arrangement view. They create a vertical line and can be named as well.

Bro ... 2:37 when you say its pretty quick for house music ..... why dont you just go with the common / standard methods so we can properly apply it lol. Like why go with 130 when you could go with a way more common bpm lol.

The video would be better if it actually showed the devices being changed. Showing the arrangement view is meaningless.

I see a good amount of melodic techno/peak techno material with some sub genre of house thrown in EDMProd. I was wondering why subgenres of trance/mainstage that incorporate techno elements are not featured? (here is an example of what i am referring to kzread.info/dash/bejne/pIl2ktaultC3mZc.html ). Perhaps it doesn't matter, and it's just about finding the right sounds? The mixing and mastering is almost the same?

My option is to keep velocity on the volume, if I want to modulate and randomize a parameter, I can do it withh the random tools in the instrument or with Expression control of M4L ;)

As someone who has no music background as such, I have learnt what little I know from videos on here. This is a particularly relevant tutorial for me and even with my lack of knowledge thought it was one of the best I’ve seen on this subject. Thank you for posting, it’s cleared up some questions I had.

I'm using atlas which does automatic sample tagging and only uses file and directory names as hints (which you cant finetune the relevance of). I have 1000 congas/djembes identified as 'clave', 'snare' or 'hi hat'.. Likewise there is a ton of vocal shots which go as 'Kick'. I recently added a hi hat only sample package and suddenly I had lots of new 'cowbells'. So my point is incomplete but proper tagging is better than automatic but misleading tagging.

i would suggest trying a synclavier emulation, as a reghen owner i'de love to see you compare algorythme type of fm, and synclavier type. i'm learning the unit but i;'m not shure i can cvross mod partials to create more complex fm "algorythmes", i'de love to see someone confortable with fm talk about this. it seems to me that a yam fm synth doesnt have a larger panel of sounds and textures than a syclavier engine... thoughts ?
