Unfortunately his message is falling on deaf ears with popstars, models (in particular) and actors still smoking and young people vaping. It's a dreadful shame that not more older celebrities and popculture icons are coming forward like Mr Nimoy did to dissuade younger generations from smoking and explain the lasting damage it does to the body.

Shatner once made a statement saying that he was working on a project and that he couldn't get away. That's a bunch of b.s. true trekkies know exactly what happened.

Piers Morgan seems like an awfully big Star Trek fan for somebody who obviously _utterly_ failed to internalize any of the core messaging.

Funny thing is now that weed’s legal people smoke more than ever, and one joint has the carcinogenic content of 21 cigarettes. We’ll see more of this in 30 years.

To quit smoking is hard enough, but to do it back then in 84 with no patches, gum, medication or even just switching to a vape. He must have been climbing the walls. Respect for stopping, but he must have felt that it was all for nothing.

My mother had COPD as well. Carried an oxygen enriching machine just like Leonard and had one at home as well. She was a heavy smoker as well back in the day. Continued smoking in her 40's up until her 60's two packs per day. COPD is treatable but not curable. Basically your lungs give out from producing oxygen to your blood so your blood cant supply enough oxygen to your organs... So your organs starts decaying off slowly year after year since they are not getting enough oxygen. And that is what eventually gets you. My father passed away this year from lungcancer and to take the lesser of two evils.. its def COPD. The things i saw and witnessed with my father in the previous year from cancer until his death i wish upon nobody. There is a very easy way to avoid all of this.... AS the late Yul Brenner said: Whatever you do.... Just dont smoke. Very simple.

Believe it or not, diet plays a roll in the bad days and good days and dieticians know this. Eat and drink things that are anti-inflammatory and your whole body benefits... including breathing. Eat something that is an inflammatory on your system and your breathing and circulation and joint and muscle fatigue becomes evident. Another thing that can negatively affect your feeling of needing oxygen is your digestive tract, especially an unknown small ulcer. Sometimes I literally can sit and sip on 4 - 7 ounces of carrot juice and then 4 ounces of Aloe Berry Juice and within a minute or so I can tell my breathing is getting better. The digestive tract can be negatively affected today from what you eat today or could be negatively affected tomorrow from what you eat today. Spices are anti-inflammatory, but spices can also irritate your digestive system. I keep track of what i eat and drink and if I eat spicy foods like tacos or fajitas, I drink lemonade with Alka-Seltzer in it to reduce the negative affects on my digestive system. Then within a few hours I have some 100% carrot juice and then a little while later some Aloe Berry juice. I Have A Regiment I Do Based On What I Eat. I buy Alka-Seltzer with no aspirin, but is lemon lime flavor. I buy Aloe Berry juice from Walmart in the quart or gallon jug in the pharmacy area and I buy Bolthouse Farms Carrot Juice. I also recently started eating pecans as well as eating beets and drinking Beet, Red Carrot, Red Orange Juice. I also started eating two servings of Blueberries twice a week. Blueberries are good for your brains.. especially neuron preservation in lack of oxygen situations. Do Not Take my Word For It, research these things. Search this in several search engines; Benefits Of ___________ like Benefits Of Blueberries and Benefits of Carrot Juice and Benefits Of Aloe Juice and Benefits Of Pecans and Benefits Of Beets ALSO Side Affects Of ____________ ALSO Foods That Cause _________ like Foods That cause Inflammation and Foods That Acidify The Blood

Tobacco companies unfortunately have gotten away with murder......literally! The 1994 settlement was no where near enough to compensate their recklessness, and the fact that they are still allowed to sell their products is pathetic! Why can't we legalize hemp and cannabis, and outlaw tobacco?

I sort of don't like Piers during the middle part of this session -- he's joking it up sort of mockingly with Nimoy, while splashing the wheelchair pic on-screen -- but he comes off as a legitimate admirer at the beginning + end.
