  I have studied this dilemma on-and-off over the years and what I have determined from looking at data and listening to tons of personal recommendations is: The best scenario for a diesel is if you frequently tow large loads long distances. So when I get my truck camper, I plan on getting a gas engine, probably the Ford 6.2, although I prefer the look of the RAM trucks.

  1200 all the way. After 5 years full time on the road there is no other camper like it. All that talk about the bathroom...An extended curtain makes the entire bathroom the shower, and there's plenty of room to change with the bathroom door closed on the 1200. Two ways into the bathroom is a game changer. Who cares what the sofa, seats, or dinette is like. We threw that stuff out and put in what we wanted....real leather recliners in the back and top cowhide daybed on the side, with a storage and a dryer underneath it and a washer that lives in the shower when we aren't showering. Both run by a recirculating filtered water source that lets us do laundry every day for 10 days straight on ten gallons of water. The AC is gone and replaced with a cooling/heating minisplit that runs off the 1500 watts of solar and 25,520 watts/ 2000ah of batteries. If you are going out five or six times a year, either of these campers will work, and are probably both overkill But. If you are on the road continuously there is nothing in the world like the EC1200. .

  @@alanrice8201 It was intended as a fun, short clip to show off that it is possible to shut the tailgate with the Soaring Eagle Adlar campers in the bed of the truck. There are lots of people who want to be able to keep their tailgate (because of backup cameras or tailgate steps) on with a truck camper on it. Thanks for watching.

  The dinette window is an emergency window that someone can get out of. All RVs are supposed to have an emergency hatch either via the roof or a side window.

  I had a camper for dozens of years and NO ONE ever shut the tail gate on me. If they did I have windows. Such a b.s. internet rumor from folks who don't camp

  The 1165 will work best for my needs. It seems to have more storage an surface/counter space. Thanks for this video. It was a really quick side by side comparison that made it easy for me to make my decision.

  pretty neat. didn't realize so many people truck camping. The Host camper folks, no offense, but they have a lot of money invested in truck camper comfort. those Host campers are fantastic, beautiful, expensive, did i say beautiful? yeah, they are beautiful..

  Same here jay! June 2022 i picked up my new 2022 NL 10-2! And just like these people i went from a 42ft 5thwheel, the old anxiety of ‘omg’ where can i turn around, or where can i park has finally disappeared lol. 🍻

  @@jaystrainer1564 rule of thumb when something stops working, take a deep breath n say “ok it can be fixed!!”. Because it always can. U picked the right camper -no slides n no rubber tpo roof, u just cut maintenance in half! Lol 🍻

  I preferred the 1200 in every area except the bathroom. I think the bathroom would need to have a few tweaks.

  Either or ..... You're still Winning ! , I couldn't believe what I just saw ! I remember Camper shells from when I was 12 , 13 and 14 and they were big and fun for us kids to play in when they were just sitting in the backyard not moving anywhere ! But this BEAST ! You could actually live in this thing Year Round ! , it's beautiful , it's clean and the tiny ass apartments I've seen in New York don't come close to this " Camper Shell ??? 😳 " .....You can keep New York ! I'll sleep in these 2 and STILL ! have more space ! ❤️😂❤️🤣❤️😂❤️

  Will this camper fit my new 2022 f350 long bed ? I bought one and have it loaded in my truck but there is about 12” space between camper and front of truck bed. I have it locked down with forklift frame mounted tie downs.

  I believe there is a long bed and a short bed version of the 865. My guess is that you have the short bed version on a long bed truck. I'd call Northwood or your camper dealer for help.

  I like the bedroom area on 1200, entry from both sides of bed. Like the shower in the 1165. Either one works for me. 1200 looks like Host Mammoth

  1165 hands down. The floor plan is better. Love the kitchen island. Cabover also needs a wardrobe and the 1165 gives you that

  rubber compounds are susceptible to damage from direct contact with gasoline, oil and antifreeze, that a bad spot for the tire tank filler combo. that spare tire will end up failing when needed. nice rig tho.
