My fiancé and I have been living full time in our 2001 Northstar Laredo for close to two years now. With our reliable 2004 Ram 2500 we've really enjoyed the mobility it provides for us to travel. To anyone in the comments who may be on the fence, don't wait for it to happen. Do your research to find what's right for your needs and set out. There's no time like the present to make this your new lifestyle!

Having owned 4 pull behinds before discovering truck campers I'd like to add some additional benefits of the TC not mentioned in the video. In most cases, there are no tag and registration fees. Insuring a TC is a fraction of a pull behind. No additional tire, brake, wheel bearing and axle maintenance and associated costs. Storage of the camper is not such an issue. Toll roads are based on the number of axles, therefore toll costs are typically half that of a large travel trailer. Many ferry systems, such as the San Juan Islands area charge by the linear foot of the truck and trailer .... the TC fees are half as much as most pull behinds. And as a videographer, my favorite benefit is having the ability to pull off to the side of the road at a moments notice, jump out and get that shot of that creature or waterfall :-)

I have been on the fence behind a 26 foot bumper pull vs a truck camper. I’m leaning toward the truck camper. Easier to get fuel, park virtually anywhere, no hassle of hooking up, no extra flat tires to worry about etc. To me, I want something relaxing and low hassle.

What could you possibly love about it? It's too long, tall and heavy at over 21,000 lbs. Not to mention, it looks goofy and has no more room than a regular camper that can fit on an F series Ford.

Only thing I worry about is gas. Trucks are bad on gas where if you have a small camper trailer like a tab 320-400. You could use say highlander, minivan or Subaru outback that get high 20s mpg and can tow 3500. But then you need to register it, takes up more parking etc.

Truck camper here too. I'm not a travel trailer type of gal. I've owned one n it took me forever to park it. Had it for several years n still never got used to it. The truck camper is ideal. My dream camper would be a non cab over Alaskan camper. Just for me. Maybe take my youngest. She's been camping with me since she was 2 weeks old. She loves the truck camper too. Would love to travel around the states n Canada too some day. But I've got responsibility now so it'll have to wait.

@T Sav check out this video and a new camper topper from Four Wheel Campers. Would only weigh 500lbs or less on your F150. Pro or Con depending on your view is it is only a topper and you would have to build out the bed of the truck. In my view, that is a positive as you can make it exactly like you want. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXua0s-EadbbYbw.html

The 990 is by far the coolest thing I have ever purchased. Plenty oof holding tank capactiies, LP, comfort and perfect size. Does not stick off of umper very much and allows less worry compared to massive campers. Tons of fun and comfort. Just did a 16 day hunt and used it every day and nice and cozy
