Those look pretty secure. I have a couple of old pairs of Sidi On Road Sympatex boots. It’s tricky when you live on your bike to have footwear that’s good for riding, and for long walks. Been using Red Wing 4473 8” work boots with a zipper kit laced in. It hadn’t occurred to me how they might easily fly off if the laces are ground off. The safest gear is probably full MotoGP attire, everything else is a compromise. I’m impressed Don was wearing his riding pants. I usually only throw those on for rain.
@charlescummings1484Ай бұрын
@@johnsmotorcyclechannel2243 Understood, top gear is a no-compromise. The boots are not bad to walk in for an hour, after that, I would switch to light shoes. I'm guilty of researching every protective piece of gear. This is what I wear every ride: Arai xd4, Textile riding jacket, Tek-vest for rib protection, fox racing shoulder/elbow mesh thingy, Alpine stars underarmor/wear thingy, RST Tractech EVO 5 (just replace worn out set with another trac pants/ want really good leg protection), guantlet gloves, Gaerne Fasback enduro boots, and finally Helite Airbag vest (manual with tether) - That's my simple gear set :) It's SOMEWHAT a sacrifice of comfort for protection, obviously you see what side I'm on. I'm in the Northeast...drivers are dangerous here. Don is a blessed he wore what he did. I do have rain gear but I have about enough time to ride when it's sunny lately, sadly. I never really need to go much faster than 90 mph. And you don’t want to do that for very long on an unfaired bike. That only really happens if I'm passing, and the vehicle I'm passing speeds up. I used to get some wobble around 100 mph and above, I solved that by not going over 100 mph. The load I carry is only about 150 - 160 lb, about the weight of a passenger, and well within the limits of the bike. I wonder how much this same engine would do in a heavier bagger loaded up the same.
