Honestly, I think the biggest issue I have with the novel is that it wound up creating a ton of misconceptions about military strategy. If I had nickel for every time I heard "working thinker and some mobility" to explain how the US military would lose to slow-moving corpses, I'd be rich... my favorite bit of the movie is a point that is kinda hilarious in comparison to the book. Right at the end you see the Army watching a bunch of zombies flock around a radio in a stadium... and they proceed to blow it up with a missile, meaning they understood and figured out the fact zombies are attracted to noise. In the novel, the chapter on dogs explains how a random Retriever got the idea to run up a building and start barking so the zombies in other buildings came out and fell off, and apparently *no one* had thought to try that before even though characters were constantly noting how dumb zombies were, and the narrator of that chapter explains how a dog inspired the Army to do that to clear cities. Don't get me wrong, World War Z is incredibly well written and researched for a bunch of other aspects... but *not* military ones, and that's my biggest gripe with it.
Yeah, I like how it tackles how it would spread, misinformation in the scientific community, the ethics and morals of governments and the different ways every day people might have to endure it But yeah, the military stuff is a bit wacky. I'm British and even I know normal assault rifles would do wonders on zombies. They don't need to invent a new rifle to fight them
@@TheRealLoomar I think the funniest part about the "Standard Infantry Rifle" is that it's literally just a Ruger Mini 14, but Todd Wainio's character acts like it's some marvelous new invention that worked better than the AR-15 against Zombies when it's noted that the S.I.R is chambered in 5.56 NATO, is incredibly modular, and is magazine fed, so... Literally the only difference from the AR is that it isn't polymer, but wood, which would be a nightmare in humid environments. But Max Brooks is clearly more well versed in social studies than military and weapons, so... yeah.
Ngl i feel like SOMEONE on the writing team knew what they were doing, maybe a writer, maybe it was a director or editor, but its just all too perfect, like you'd think somewhere they'd write in him being an asshole or justifying the way he's treated and it just never happens, i really think someone saw the garbage they were given and decided to make something actually interesting and work in their own story
Funny thing is, I find that this series shows just how correct Iron man was in civil war. The falcon and winter soldier are both unregulated, and so go around essentially _ruining_ everything Walker does.
nice video! One scene you don't get because you prob have trouble with subtlety is when Pery tells Lois she's suspended for leaking the story, and then THREATENEED to punish her more for being agreeable-- He said that because he expected her to yell and be angry with him for this, but she's being all chill about it which makes him feel like she's hidding something, so he said that cause she's lying to him-- but he calms down and tells her that even if she's hidding the real reason he's fine w this, he thinks it's the right choice.-- Basically "I know you are hiding something"
1) Punishing an employee for doing what you ask, regardless of the context, is a shit thing to do 2) This ain't any ordinary thing. This isn't a piece about some government failure or a greedy corporation or health scandal that was covered up. It was a piece about aliens. It's such a far fetched/otherworldly thing to report about that I think it's perfectly normal for a reported to back down from this sort of story, especially if they feel embarrassed about publishing it and they admit they don't have enough evidence/leads. For some reason Perry, right before talking about how they shouldn't be focusing on aliens and that it's a subject that best be avoided, is basically asking her to not avoid the issue and keep reporting on it by punishing her if she doesn't do what he just asked her to do Like a lot of the scenes in the film, it's got a clear goal it wants to accomplish but is so bizarre in terms of dialogue and tone that I think it just fails
This video is dumb. ALL their movies sucked in a row
Majority, not all of them. I think Shazam, Blue Beetle and The Suicide Squad are decent
Senator Kelly in my opinion is NOT a sympathetic straw man. An understandable one maybe? Sure. But mutants in general have powers they can control. Its very similar to the gun debate. Senator kelly blames people's powers for their actions instead of their actions.
I think the problem is more "what about mutants that don't know they have powers and cause damage" Look at the first X-Men film. Rogue, entirely on accident, nearly kills her boyfriend and he ends up in a coma for months, all because no one knew she was a mutant. Perhaps if they did they could have done some tests or prepared for any abnormalities I think Kelly is designed like that in a lot of ways, with people usually taking this rhetoric and twisting it to be just against mutants in general
@@TheRealLoomar I mean the movie certainly makes him out to be bad saying "I would like to put them all in prison". And yes being aware of what powers you have on like a doctor patient type level would certainly be helpful. But I don't personally think of it as a straw man because it's the same type of rhetoric used by gun lobbyists who want to ban guns. Blame people who haven't done anything for those that have. Start off by registration, then banning, then forceful seizure. It's obviously reasonable to be worried about people with super powers, it just isn't moral to just assume the worst and lock them all up because they COULD do something. But yes some mutants literally cannot control their powers and they sort of have to be dealt with in some manner. Like in one comic a guy just blows up constantly. I get why he might have to be locked up. But in the movie Kelly references Kitty Pryde and how she could rob a bank. You can't arrest someone who can phase through walls because they might use it for a crime. It's not immediately dangerous that she can phase through objects and walls. Unless she actually commits a crime it's unfair to assume there is a problem and arrest her.
Yeah, they tried to make Sam and Bucky the heroes, but instead made Sam and Bucky seem like the bad guys in this show. Especially when they don't want to help Walker who's just trying to do the right thing and help his country. Steve Rogers would actually like John Walker, and disapprove of Sam and Bucky's methods.
Okay, here's the only I was thinking about with the whole "the virus avoids weaknesses" argument you were making: that's not what's stated in the movie. There is ONE other notable moment in the movie you just completely ignored: that final sequence in the lab. The theory that was being tested was that if you're infected with some other disease/infection, it would act as a sort of camouflage. Remember, Jerry infected himself with some virus that was being kept at that lab, waited for it to spread through his body, then tested to see if the zombies would attack. It's implied in those scenes you mentioned that the individuals are sick with something else, and thus weren't attacked since they were already sick with something else. Roanoke Gaming did a whole video on this and (according to his theory on the matter) the virus portrayed in the movie and game basically tries identifying if a subject is "worth infecting" in the first place. It's complicated, but the basics is that, since instinct takes over, it tries to identify worthwhile hosts through scent. An individual with some kind of ailment gives of a slightly different scent that would signal to the virus that the sick host isn't worth the effort of infecting. I highly recommend his video so you can come to your own conclusion, but I digress.
Ultimately you just demonstrated that you’re an America bootlicker who thinks they’re always in the right. NATO is literally just an American political arm, nothing more nothing less, wakanda is however part of the un, which is a vastly better institution. Walker is a soldier to a fault, loyal to a country and not the greater good. Also there is no difference between terrorists and governments that inflict injustice except that terrorists are fighting the powers that be, you compare it case by case on who’s right. Captain America isn’t there to fight for America, and in the comics has gone out of his way many times to fight for people around the world even against America
Huh. I'd known this as the Avatar Korra Effect.
I have a controversial statement for this. But they went down harder because the fans were pissed that James Gunn (The p*d0Phile) got involved, for one he got rid of Henry after the fans were so happy for his return. And let's be real Gunn planned this like a jerk. Back before he got in control of DC. He said in his Suicide Squad film that Bloodsport injured Superman, but he said "not sure which Superman" HE PLANNED THIS! that guy is a jacka$$. Look Black Adam may have failed. But the films went don't much more in box office because of the stunt Gunn pulled. Not to mention his lies and how hypocritical he is. So he can keep his cast from his show Peacemaker (THAT WERE IN THE DCEU) But he wouldn't give Henry, Ben, or Gal another go? Fuckin hypocritical
Guys, idk what yall are complaining about. Wonder Woman’s purpose is to WONDER why she’s there🤭
Finally, someone said it! I've always seen Walker as a good character (not a good person) but everytime I try to explain it, nobody would listen!
You have essentially pointed out an extremely common, even fundamental, bug/flaw in comic book ethics since the earliest days of the media form. It ia currently being utilized wholesale in Hollywood. Faulty morality, recognizable as such by the reader, is held up as the ideal of ethics by the writer. Eventually readers-- and viewers-- depart.
Ahhh black Adam was alright. Nothing revolutionary but it was aight
It's an ok watch for mindless entertainment But it's pretty bad
Lol, 'You're wrong about Fable, because if you completely break the narrative and spend over a year in-game grinding for loot only to selflessly donate it all for the good of the kingdom while the apocalyptic evil just sits on its ass for no in-game reason then you can totally win without ever making a single compromise, unlike that evil guy who couldn't magically stop the apocalypse while he frolicked through the flowers, explored dungeons, and became the landlord for half the bloody kingdom! Why didn't he just do what you could? He must be dumb, and evil!' I'm reminded of the Asmongold Quote of 'You can't logic someone out of a position they didn't logic themselves into.' He's wrong, as a large number of people can put aside their feelings when presented with evidence, but some people have made their decision, pride themselves on their decision making, and thus take anyone telling them they're wrong as a _personal_ attack, and react thusly.
The Don situation is even worse, as she's not just immune, his wife is a _carrier,_ so even if he'd somehow fought off all the zombies, unarmed, without getting infected himself, gotten to her, and saved her, when, escaping, and relieved, he kissed the woman he loved, he would've turned into a rage zombie 30 seconds later... You know, _The Inciting Incident of The Entire Movie._
I had the same issue after 200 hours in the game … now k can’t finish it
Can’t dismiss the fact the actor did a great job with the material given to him, too. In less talented hands, they may have gotten away with it….
Shazam doesnt suck
Shazam doesn't Shazam: Fury of the Gods absolutely does
@@TheRealLoomar really? That bad?
Yeah I wasn't trying to be funny when I said that these 3 films are very bad I'm sure that if I did a full breakdown of the film I could talk about it for hours pointing out how much it sucks
@@TheRealLoomar I didn't think you were being funny. I just haven't seen it yet
I can’t believe someone actually watched the Falcon and WS. 🤣
I actually loved the flash, it has a few issues but I think it’s extremely overhated, Gunn was right, peak film idc. But I do wanna say I 100% agree with ur takes on Shazam 2 and black Adam those films range from meh to pretty bad
FINALLY someone else is talking about this, good job
For superman, batman is called out for his actions but you are correct. Batman doesnt offer any counterarguments
6:50 no hes saying if he can JUSTIFY killing joker, he can justify killing scarecrow or anyone else. Its not on him. The justice system should have killed joker. That isnt on batman.
19:14 wow Gotham really stole this and made it the Tetch Virus
Red Hood has never been a sympathetic strawman at least not in the movie. He's literally supposed to show Batman's flaws. Don't compare this to John walker in this show. The movie never makes you pick a side. You can view jason as a tragic fall from grace or the tragic result of batman's inaction. Youre right about Injustice tho but even then there are people in the story who agree with superman at first
His vibes are off, what can I say.
Zachary Levi is just the worst pick for Shazam
Eh? I guess. It depends on the material actors are given, and whether or not it is a good fit. Maybe Levi just wasn't given the right material.
I liked him in the first one Just in the second one he seems to have stuck to playing Shazam as a child as he was in the first film, when he's supposed to be a more mature teenager now It was most likely the material, but I don't doubt that maybe his influence wasn't the best either
but the only person superman outright kills is zod (after repeatedly and explicitly told he will never stop and supes and no knowledge of a way to imprison him) and using a scene of collateral damage in a fight scene is kinda misleading not defending black adam or anyone else jn this case only superman at lease he is using the appropriate force on an appropriate opponent unlike wonder woman
He takes Zod from the bare country side and brings him into Smallville town centre. Him crashing through the 7/11 most likely killed anyone inside as well He also didn't offer Zod the chance to surrender when he had the ship as leverage, choosing to destroy it instead, killing the Kryptonian race and killing anyone who was in those skyscrapers/on the street You can watch my full video on Man of Steel if you want more elaboration, but overall he's a pretty shit superhero
I subscribed no questions asked.
Thank you kind stranger
try no more room in hell people, closest game to the book
I don't blame Rocksteady, but i found it unfortunate that this is how it happened
Nah in many books there are far more extrem examples. Especially when dealing with utilitarian "villains "
I love how Wonder Woman can just teleport to anywhere when off-screen, and of course, she always knows where she is needed
She was just a deus ex machina towards the end
23:37 I heard it was fake news with no evidence of Cruise ever saying that. People engaged with it because it was so widespread, likely due to astroturfing.
I absolutely believe that Tom Cruise never said those words or even watched the film However, it wouldn't surprise me if he agreed to some sort of marketing deal
It's funny how they somehow made the villain likable and the flag smashers unnecessarily evil by killing innocent people for no reason
Warner Bros is the only reason DC is losing its goodwill to the general audience. us Comicbook readers are happy with Comics and animation.
Falcon and the winter soldier is probably some of the worst writing I have ever seen from Disney
The worst thing he does is kill a surrendered opponent. Gotta keep in mind though, this is a literal terrorist who’s helped in actions resulting in the deaths of numerous civilians. On top of this; as stated in the video, the terrorist refused to surrender. John’s friend dies in front of him. He kills a national criminal; and known terrorist. He does all of this with authority from the government. John Walker is a flawed hero.
We could be getting the best films ever adapted from DC comics history but instead of one step at a time and earning the lore they want the entire world set up in 2 movies and even Marvel Studios didn’t do something that shallow and just blindly expected superficial edge to sell iconic characters who have better qualities in the original medium.
The first Shazam was a fun watch, but they really had no clue what to do with the character. He's more of a side/support character. He should be interacting with the wider universe or meeting the younger heroes. 2nd movie should've been about him and Superman beating Black Adam. Or perhaps an adaptation of the JLU episode called "Clash" where Shazam and Superman fought. Or both stories combined would be fun.
I feel like Birds of Prey onwards they were just throwing ideas and sequels out at random. I don't think they actually thought about Shazam except do a sequel and have him fight Black Adam (which didn't happen because of Dwayne)
@TheRealLoomar they should've taken the time to lay out the foundation. Also should never have hired Snyder. The guy did not understand Superman or Batman at all.
The Flash is a great movie.
Enjoy it all you want, but it's really not
@@TheRealLoomar It is.
@@user-oz3um2ii7oyou have bad taste
HOW DARE YOU
@@user-oz3um2ii7o nope
John Walker is what a realistic Captain AMERICA would look like.
The worst thing in The Flash movie is their BS explanation that changing one point in the past changes another point in the past, just so they wouldn't have to explain why Bruce Wayne's actors kept changing, why Clark Kent never made it to Earth, and why literally none of this time-traveling makes any sense. I mean, there's a suspension of disbelief, and then there's inventing nonsensical new rules of time travel just to explain your crappy multiverse.
I just think it's hilarious that the movie is supposed to be an upbeat ending where Barry gets his dad out of prison, but by the movies own rules he left his actual dad to rot in jail and stole another Barry's dad instead
I mean fans have been speaking up of what they want to see, but whooops, egotistic studio chose a villain movie that made him a hero, a marvel movie in dc, and a very, very veryyyyyyyy bad adaptation.
"We end this NOW." I usually like Lucy Liu, but who in casting thought SHE should be the main villain when you literally have Helen Mirren right there? Lucy CANNOT portray menace.
Someone obviously just watched Kill Bill and instantly thought OMG SHE IS SUCH A GOOD VILLAIN without taking in consideration that not only was it Lucys acting but choreographers, trainers and of course Tarantinos writing and ability to highlight washed out actors skills e.g. Michael Madsen, John Travolta, David Carradine, Daryl Hannah etc
Homelander: I was watching an old Startrek episode, they said the population of children, were ageing one month after 100 years. Then Bones, the future doctor, says, these kids are over 300 years old.The children being 8-10 years in appearance. Not only is that bad math, its written, revised, rehearsed, then filmed, then edited. Ultimately people were in a rush for gains, because we designed money to cause action, by emergency. You wouldn't get involved other wise.
I always read as that the movie treats red hood's argument as being more reasonable and logical. They never tell what is right or wrong just present both views. It is Batman's character that holds the belief. It might be an example strawman viewpoint done right.
And this is why I lost faith in marvel
