We Grown Now is one of the best films of 2024. I highly recommend streaming this film. It follows 2 Black pubescent boys growing up in the Cabrini Green Projects in Chicago in 1992 and how their innocence is slowly stripped away due to the political and drug-fueled environment outside of their loving homes.

Thanks for the great review! I saw it Friday and loved it. The only point where I will disagree with you is that I actually thought Nichols got the soundtrack just right. It was authentically 1960s without using iconic biker songs such as Born to Be Wild or Leader of the Pack that might have distracted from the movie and seemed a bit cliche. Instead, Nichols chose a lesser known song by The Shangri-Las called "Out in the Streets," which was lyrically perfect for the story he was telling. I also love that he included blues songs by Bo Diddley (Road Runner) and Muddy Waters (Mannish Boy).

Yeah, they definitely tried to pay homage to direct shots from Michael Bay's original work on Bad Boys..specifically the rotating shot when they stand up....which was the signature shot of the original film. Otherwise, much of this was pretty...average. Glad you liked it...but, me personally.....I want this franchise to END. It's just...not worth watching any longer. Outside of Martin Lawrence having the better dialogue and moments, overall....it's not enough to carry the terrible acting of Will Smith, a crappy script, no real bad guy and sloppy story telling. Good review. And yes, best scene of the movie is Reggie's.
