All about fishing the west coast with no talking and just fishing. No politics, no gloating, just straight fishing with text explanation regarding techniques, season, and gear used.
Great video! I personally don’t mind bait fishing at all (I personally don’t use it becuase I just don’t like having to Reba it all the time) but I think the only time I don’t like it is when theres a delicate fishery and fish get hooked deep when trying to release them. By the way, when was this filmed? I just want to know if steelhead are still in the system

Underrated fishing area. Lots of free parking, easy access to the river, great fishing. For those not sure, check water flows at a site like DreamFlows. During the summer, water is released from the dam to promote kayaking and rafting there on most days, so check before going and then wasting your time.

No bobber stop first? I use braid as my main line and the fabric ones work best (vs rubber stops) - bobber stop - bead - water bobber - bead - swivel - leader (4 to 5 feet) - light wire hook (I use tru-turn crappie hooks). I fill my bobber about half way - you get long casts but the longer the cast along with more water makes the bobber sink lower. You can always adjust the amount of water - let out a drop or 2...or add. Who doesn't like seeing their bobber go under!
@jeffwerth270718 күн бұрын
Also I use a loop knot on my hook - if you get wind knots in your leader simply replace it. I use line that I spool my jerkbait rod with but there is not enough to fill. Don't toss - use as leader material

Are certain areas of the sac calmer than others? Fished out of discovery park and the current was sending my 4oz pyramid way down the river. Could not keep my bait on the bottom at all.
@CaliforniaFishingАй бұрын
cast closer to the bank. If the water is that strong, it's probably not holding many fish either, as they'll be having to fight the current too.
@DamnChinnАй бұрын
Yeah cast like 10-20 ft in front of you. They’ll come up shallow and eat. I was at Broderick and stupid dude to the left of me cast into middle of river which washed his line back to shore and crossed mine. I got a bite and the fish ran into his line making him thinking he caught the fish. He was trying to take my fish, but I told him no cause the fish was on my line my hook.

yes, been through parts of sac river on boat and there are areas where its super calm and some areas treacherous. Also tried 12 oz coin sinker on the bank and current sent it back to the bank....gotta find calmer areas.
