    This is a good video. If the writers are going to have the heroes have no killing rules then the level of villainy needs to be toned down to match.

    I loved Roy Thomas’s ALL STAR SQUADRON myself. That series took what was with the JSA and expanded the history of the team and created the Squadron during WW2. Well it was great till COIE destroyed all that.

    80s to late 2000s DC was too good. Do not care for James Robinson's writing (too overwritten just like Kurt Busiek). Also 90s Shade the Changing Man did not feature any DC characters other than the titular protagonist.

    In the 90s, James Robinson was a good writer with Starman, JSA Golden Age, Leave it to Chance. He especially had a good handle with Golden Age characters & their history. Pity, his output became less good after the 90s.

    I agree with the haters on the mentally ill part. I hate the hate (and misinformation) the comics spread about being mentally ill (and insane as they call it). Almost none of the villains belong in an asylum almost none of them are insane (not to mention asylums aren’t even a thing anymore). Look up the definition of insanity if you don’t believe me. But the writers don’t know this they think mentally ill = insane and they dump nearly all villains in an asylum (many of which aren’t even mentally ill). And they’re always throwing around words they don’t know the meaning of like psychotic, psycho/sociopath, insane and it’s just bad. I hate the idea that evil is just “sick and twisted” and that’s a thing I see a lot being thrown around in Batman stories. If the writers are gonna write a story with such deep roots on psychiatry they should know what’s accurate and what’s not.

    Damian was supposed to stay dead but WB over rulled DC because Damian managed to a breakout character. DC is a business and fans tend to forget that. How many characters have DC introduced since Damian? How many have managed to be as successful as him? None. He's has even managed to topple Tim Drake in popularity.

    X Men Evolution is amazing. My favorite superhero animated show will always be Young Justice tho. Also, Earth's Mightiest Heroes should have ran for longer that was the shit when I was a kid. But tbh I think DC IS better at animation but Marvel is no slouch that is very true.

    My stance interms of animated shows dc is a bit more consistent in quality in comparison to marvel but where as when marvel animation is good their really good like ems,spectacular,or evolution but the problem with marvel animation is they seem have become just a advertisement for the movies like avengers assemble,what if, and ultimate Spiderman they turn out really meh and boring. Xmen 97 is a breath of freash air since where taking a break from the mcu in animation. For the record dc isn't perfect I did not like their new 52 movies am a fan of their tomorrow verse. I would like for dc to go back to doing stand alone adaptation like under the redhood or superman vs the elite. Though recent dc side of animation isn’t all bad I really like my adventures with Superman. If where talking animated movies their neck and neck though I slightly lean dc only because I think dc has made more than Marvel. I appreciate the dcau for getting so many consistent shows and all being good. However if marvel and dc can get consistent good animated shows and movies from writing to action then I'll say well be in a good place.

    I started reading comics in my late 20s, during the new 52 in particular (never read them as a kid). The MCU and the the Nolan trilogy re-ignited my love and interest in these characters, but that kernel was already there thanks to 90s DC and marvel animation, especially BTAS. Marvel and DC must not rely on cinematic universes for their longevity, sometimes a couple of good cartoons is all it takes to keep interest for future generations.

    Exactly. That's one of the reasons I really enjoy Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur and MAWS. I'm not exactly the target audience for either, but it's nice that there's something out there for younger generations to have as a gateway into comics, and high concepts like the Beyonder and OMAC.

    It's been a few years now since Nick Spencer's run has ended and looking back, this run was definitely the booster shot in the arm ASM needed. Personally, I loved this run 1.) Because it was the first ASM run that I followed since the first issue and 2.) The characters felt genuine. Now, after issue 60 is where (imo) the run starts to fall apart. A lot of those stories felt rushed and I think Kindred should left after Last Remains was over.

    I believe, if Marvel and DC are to succeed as publishers in the future, independent of the support they get from their parent companies (movies and lunch boxes), the must go back to the original Marvel method which was very similar to current manga. Marvel skyrocketed to # 1 in the late silver and Bronze Ages because they were moving the characters and story forward with a coherent continuity/payoffs unlike dc which was in stagnation with the villain of the month model. doing things the same will only lead to them being one trick ponies that are living off of the original ideas of basically a handful of creators from the early to mid 20th century. that might work with the small residuals of readers from the past and might bring in a small percentage of the young market. but for sure they won't be labeled "the big two" anymore unless they act as publishers and not custodians of golden/silver age IPs. As they are now, they are failing, they have rootless pasts (thanks to continuous retcons), and pointless futures (because no end is in sight). A character in a manga has a journey. A character in a marvel/dc comic book has an appearance. I say this as someone who is over comics but someone who is grateful for the joy they gave me when I did read them.

    @feywinterfox9630Ай бұрын

    My Biggest problem with this has always been not the fact that I am so much against a Hero killing the bad guys as much as I am at the fact of two things both in the comics and in real life. *Every time a hero does kill a villain, then everyone and their mom both in the comics and irl fit the hell out.* You outright have both characters in the comics AND irl wanting the hero to kill the villain but every time that happens people lose their minds, it's like crying, begging, and screaming for something and yet when you get it people lose their collective minds. Keep in mind also that when a hero does this suddenly that law that had a hard time pinning down the villain is now all over the hero like white on rice in a glass of milk on a paper plate in a snowstorm. I have always said it's not Batman's job to kill the Joker because I known the moment he does he is in big trouble, what I never got was with all the stuff Joker has done why hasn't some officer or anyone else killed him? More so in the comics now days with all he has done to the city? Outside of Batman, anyone else that walks up and shoots him (without batman around) is pretty much going to be a hero. The only person who would be upset at this current point in the comics is Batman....maybe Punchline (no idea where that whole thing went), everyone else even the other villain would he happy as all hell! Then comes the last problem I have with this is the fact that SOME Heroes everyone is okay with killing villains, but other heroes for as much talk as everyone is, better stay to that Golden Age way OR ELSE! People constantly want Batman to kill off his villains for the greater good, but if Superman harms a fly, everyone loses their mind and are suddenly all afraid of him and stuff. By everyone's logic at that point Injustice Superman was 1,000% right and the only reason anything bad happened after killing the Joker is because people kept getting the way for some odd reason. The real answer at the end of the day? These people are trying to sell comics and death in comics has kinda become meaningless when people will be back within a year or restart of the comic universe and what not. I would say to fix this maybe stop writing the villains like the pure embodiment of evil, but I don't see that happening....ever, but I do see eventually the heroes one day will catch up, if that is a good or bad thing? (shrug)
