Welcome to the Sam Bone channel. What is Sam Bone, well he's my alter ego guitar avatar. I'm going to use this channel to talk guitars, assemble a few and see how it goes. We might branch off into other mechanical things like cars and such. So keep watching out for new videos.

Floyd Rose Speed loader neck is 22 frets right up to the butt of the neck. The Warmoth 22 fret necks use a standard 21 fret neck but with an extension to the fretboard to fit that last fret - the butt is still sits in the neck pocket designed for a 21 fret neck. In short, the neck pocket on a Floyd Rose Redmond speedloader is closer to the bridge posts than on a normal Strat. That's my experience, anyways.
It's possible, I never had a Redmond. I bought the Speedloader directly from FR years ago. And it worked fine with the strings, but once they lost a company to make those strings, the guitar is useless. I still think the concept is good, but the execution leaves something to be desired.
@@samdeo5332 It was a good idea from the glory days of whammy bar harmonic screams!
Hi. One question. How did you discard that amount of paint? I've been trying to figure what to do with it. I read the paint manufacturer's MSDS and it seems kind of vague on best way to discard responsibly. Thanks
There's not a lot of paint to discard actually. The bottle of paint itself is about the size of a touchup bottle from a car dealer and you're putting drops in the water, not huge amounts. I'm cleaning up the paint with a paper towel. Then I take the paper towel and put it with the rest of the paint that's going to be handed over to hazardous waste day drop off my town has twice a year.
@@samdeo5332 Thanks for the response. What I mean is, in the video, I see a garbage can filled with paint contaminated water. That's what I mean. Do you just dump it in the driveway to run off into the sewer? I'm just imagining my neighbors watching me dump a colored liquid into the sewer. BTW, great job! I am very much into finishing guitars and this technique interests me quite a bit so any details on the disposal experience would be appreciated. I am already a regular visitor to my local Haz Mat collection site!
@@edorne100 Ok, understood, the water isn't as contaminated as you would think as most of the paint sits on top and doesn't sink. And I've reused the water a few times. But once I'm done I just dump the water into the grass.
A couple questions… How long do you need to keep your guitar under the water? when I’ve taken objects out of the water little water bubbles remain. How do you get rid of those? Hairdryer ..fan? Any other technique? Just shaking didn’t seem to do it. Relying on sanding afterwards doesn’t really work since it sands off the color.
As soon as it's fully submerged and the paint on top is moved out of the way its removed. I would say from start to finish under a minute. I way the body around so extreme air drying you might say. Pretend you're directing traffic if that makes sense.
@@samdeo5332 ok I made one that looks good from afar but will try again kzread.infovnmvpFNhH-s?si=U8pIl4JmgNKcxg6a
Me likem.
i wonder if you could dip it horns first by screwing a threaded rod into the hole of the rear strap nut.
You could try but the body will push up and try to float, that might bend the screw in the strap button hole or tear it out.
Wish my family was as interested in my guitar endeavors. Lol
I can't say my family is interested in my guitars, they were more interested in the hydro dipping process.
water temp? I keep trying bu tthe paint keeps setting up on the water before i can swirl and dip. I started at 78 and went down to 68 but still happens..
Between 65 and 70F. Are you using Magic Marble or another brand?
@samdeo5332 another brand since magic marble is basically out of stock of all paints, i using the marabu easy marbel which is similar but i dont think is as good
@BoostedBlazer I tried a swirling paint from a local craft store and it gave me a lot of issues. There are a few places that may have magic marble in stocks, try beach girl glitter, they have custom mixed colors as well.
Nice!!

That looks amazing man, i totally dig it 👌
Hi what is the best tub to buy for swirl dipping guitar's
I find that a large round garbage can works best. I'm using a 55 gallon plastic garbage can and that is working fine.
They seem to be very close to scale (1:48) size. They seem to be a model of the FP7. Which is 4 foot longer than a regular F. It’s a pity they never made passenger cars on the same scale. I think this paint scheme was only really used for passenger power. I see yours has maroon paint on the pilot. My set has just tinned steel there, but the tin is thin and oxidized and looks splotchy. Maybe they painted later ones to look better. I may paint my pilots to look like yours.
wow that looks awesome
I love them.
Just subscribed. I have a HOGE 1000 which will not run on my layout due to tight corners.
What radius are you running?
horrible guitar...
what an awesome guitar I love it
Thanks Sam I shared it with my Grandson Nick. Look him up Nick Amling and the Lifeline 16:47
Thanks Bob, I'll check him out
She's beautiful!
I have these exact two train engines. They are for-sale.
Do more of these videos...post weekly, you'll soon have enough viewers to pay for new guitars....EPIC DIP 🎸🔥
I wish I could :) Thanks for the kind words, I do plan on hydrodipping more this spring and summer.
@@samdeo5332 it's good stuff....do a primer on it to teach people...step by step...it's so darn good. Love it, thanks for replying, best to you!! PS, my antique olive strat would look cool with a dip, wouldn't you say? :)
Great video. Love these. One minor correction: those are both A units, one is a powered A unit and the other is a dummy A unit. The configuration you are running together is referred to as an AA set. The B unit (which I do not believe Unique Art ever produced for this) does not have a cab. So a B unit, and I am speaking of the full size prototype on which this is based, looks essentially the same as an A unit except that both ends are squared off like a passenger car. The B unit lacks a rounded nose. This type of F body locimotive was run in many configurations on full size railroads. Your model is an AA. They also ran them solo with just an A unit. Often they ran in AB sets of two locomotives at the head of a train. For really long trains an A-B-A set of three locomotives was at the head. Did Unique Art only make this model in Rock Island livery? I have not seen many of these, but the ones I have seen are all painted the same as yours. Like you, I mostly run prewar tinplate, but I love these 1950 lithographed creations (I just bought a Marx #21 AA set) and agree they look fine with prewar tinplate. Thanks for the great photography, you have a very nice layout (love the monorail).
Thanks for the correction. Regarding the question if UAT every made other liveries of this locomotive, not as far as I'm aware. Also, they never made cars to go along with it. I've tried to find something that might work, but nothing looks right. This is a fairly large locomotive and dwarfs most passenger cars. And thanks for the kind words on my layout.
Thanks, I know what you mean about the lack of cars. Similar situation with my Marx #21. I’m tempted to try matching it with some of the Japanese tin lithographed “floor train” coaches that people have modified with O gauge trucks. I imagine Unique planned to release cars in this scale but the company ended before that could happen.
I could look at this guitar all day. Great job thank you for explaining the process🙏🏽 might try this out someday
Beautiful! I love the combination of colors. I hope you did an update. I’m gonna check your channel.☺️
Thank you, I'm actually planning on a follow up video shortly, stay tuned!
Im just wondering, did you put anything into the water as a medium? also how warm was the water?
I use magic Marble paint which doesn't require a medium in the water. I had the temperature between 65 and 70F.
@@samdeo5332 Thanks man, im looking forward to doing a project like that myself.
@slipstream2326 good luck and have fun, I actually redid this body and painted a couple more. I'll try to make a video to showcase them
@@samdeo5332 hey, its me again, ive been trying out some paints and none of them are working very well, could you please send me a link to the paint you used?
@@slipstream2326 sure things, this is the main site, magicmarble.com/ however you can get these colors as well as custom colors from here as well www.beachgirlzglitter.com/
Marx guy here, what is a Boucher? 1920s--30s Flyer? Tin is the Bees Knees.
Boucher was a Prewar standard gauge and 2 gauge model manufacturer that made detailed scale train and boat models
On U-tube, to see 57-58 Coronets in action, on 1950s TV show " Highway Patrol". The chase and pursuit seens are outstanding.
Very nice 👍 Glad to see you enjoying your locomotive”
A big thanks to you for getting it running again!
Great job thanks for the upload
Does this not affect the tone of the guitar from warping or swelling?
Not from what I've noticed. It's not in the water that long, and it's already painted with a base coat, so it's not bare wood.
Can you please tell me what kind of paint you are using.
The base coat is a matte white rustoleum and the swirl paint is Magic Marble paint. Clear coat is a 2 part epoxy spray paint
Thanks you where a big help.
Love these Unique Art Rock Island 2000's, I have two sets of these. I do think they look pretty good with the large Lionel boxcars. Some heavy weight passengers cars look good as well. Enjoyed the video. PS I also made a video of these and it's posted here on KZread if you want to check it out.
Looks good enough 🎉
Alright a Ford engine on the T Bucket and l prefer the Dodge.
Very cool 58 Dodge, and of course the T bucket is cool as well. But as a Mopar nut I have always liked the finned 57-59 Mopars because my father had a 57 Fury and then a 59 Belvedere with the same 2 door post configuration as this 58 Dodge.
Quite a pare!
Very nice ride Sam! I’d like to see the car.
Thanks Bob! I'll get a pic loaded up
It does look really cool. You helped me with both the tips and the type of paint to use. Thank you!
Glad to help
What year is that one with the doors that open on the engine ?
The doors open on this engine and it's a 1935
Awesome job!
Super cool and unique, would love to hear it

Thanks, I'll be posting another video this weekend with the guitar back together as well as a hydro dip test with 2 different color base coats.
Ha, I didn't realize I commented to the wrong video, lol
Are you willing to sell the armless system as you only seem to have needed the arm?
Sorry, the guitar just sold with the extra trem about 15 minutes ago
@@samdeo5332 ok, thanks anyway
