From my limited experience - the most important thing deciding lifetime of your roof - it's the roofers installing it. There's so many shady ones doing absolutely appalling job which in the end results roofs that barely last 20 years. Needless to say I have some experience with those😭.

Glad we don't use tile batons for slate up here in Scotland. Take the nail either side to the above slate. Turn to nail. Lead toggle🤦. A tingle is used on cement slates no natural slates. 😂😂

Talking a load of nonsense. You can purchase fibre cement man made 500 x 250. Not just 600 x 300. Spanish is naff.

This is a UK method which does not work in the US. Strap hangers will open up with ice and snow sliding down a roof. Use slate hooks to install the replacement slates in the US, or else use the nail and bib method. These are illustrated in the Slate Roof Bible.

copper nails is not as good as galvanised!galaxies are quarter the price stronger last longer and grip alot better to the slates and timber they are fixed to!also that repair is very 100 year ago!lead isn't robust or rigid enough through expanding and contracting!either swing slates above it and use high quality adhesive or high tensile tying wire x😉

Get rid of the annoying background music. It's bad enough with the hammering and the wind noise without you adding pointless music to make it hard to hear the commentary. The information is the most important thing to hear, so thumbs up for that but thumbs down for making it harder to hear than necessary.

NO CRITICISM BUT ON A BRAND NEW ROOF YOU ARE ALREADY STRAPPING SLATES. On a new roof you strip back regardless and replace the tile properly. Or at least use a solid adhesive so the new slates match on a new roof

I'm planning on slate roofing my home. The old roofing is not that great, and it's not helping to cool down the room. I need something good looking and helps to lower the temperature. From a blog, I found that California Title 24 is a good option( www.ncslate.com/architectural-design-support/cool-roof-californias-title-24-solar-reflectance-index-sri/ ). It covers both beauty and efficiency. Next time, please share a detailed blog on the different types of roofing slates.

Unfortunately a lot of new natural slate are not good quality they are cheap for a reason imported from Spain and the like there seams to be no grading unlike Welsh which are as good as you get yes they are more expensive but worth every penny
