  She would have been out either way, but why didn't the home plate ump call her out when she started walking away? She didn't need to be tagged by the catcher, she was out of the baseline.

  The announcer can disagree all she wants; the home-umpire looked to the 3rd-base ump to confirm. And you can see at 1:21 the 3rd-base ump is watching her and holds up his arm before she has even released the ball. I don't care how many times the pitcher got it right before, this was a bad moment to make that mistake.

  I remember taking a line drive very similar to this except my glove went to the other side and I took the ball to the mouth. It definitely wasn’t pretty and I don’t recommend it to anyone.

  She should be safe, and a homerun awarded. You can't tag a runner out if they do not enter the dugout. You can appeal once the hitter who hit the homerun only after they enter the dugout.
