I like how Batman lore I didn't know about was explained. Turning the clock every night to the time of his parents' death. You know how strong someone is to do that? Not to mention how i see it. Earth is the safest place with Batman on it. The Batman Superman apocalypse movie. Batman's maybe first time on Apocalypse. Darkseid does speak english, but he is an alien. Therefore, alien symbols Batman learned alien writing to encrypt Darkseid's password and threaten to blow up Apocalypse, his planet. I see it as Batman protecting Gotham with everything he has. What is Gotham? A city on a continent on his planet Earth. As long as Gotham is a part of Earth, Earth is the most protected planet in DC.

Batman is Tarzan in a cape. Both born of nobility, orphaned, trained for physical perfection YET uses his cunning to outwit the natives/criminals. They both serve the vile white supremacist trope of the inherent superiority of the white man and embrace the fantastic myth, that even removed of wealth, family and technology the white man will still dominate. The line about criminals being a "superstitious cowardly lot" could have just as easily been lifted from the imperialist field manual of king leopold. Batman is merciless to the underclass pummeling them viciously and glad hands members of the ruling upper class (harvey dent , harley quinn etc) giving them chance after chance.

Wait? Isn’t the quote on 10:56 saying the opposite of what you are saying? All of the bad ideas they heard believe it was “all about the story”. Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s crazy.

  • @a.o.8527

I think what they were saying was that the problem with the ideas was that story conflicted with algorithm and marketability. Not that it was the way it should be, but that clash was a problem they ran into a lot.

I just wish I could experience it again for the first time. It felt so magical to see this stuff. Though the series kinda scared me. I was in high school in 2012...it kinda helped me realize that my first relationship wasn't going to last. But stupid as I was, I tried to hold on to someone who didn't love me the way I loved them. Eventually I left her and would work and work. I then found who would become my wife and now I have a beautiful child with my wife. Things have to move on and change.

At the time, it was way ahead of it's time, ten fold. For what it was, I still consider it one of the best youtube\webseries ever made. The references, appealing not only to the video-game community and mainstreams, but being able to slightly make fun of the culture in subtle ways, all together still having a good time. I actually didn't even know VGHS existed until 2017. I am currently re-watching it again and am on season 2. The nostalgia man, it's unreal. Still today, it's very popular, talked about, featured on Netflix at one point. There's a whole fandom for it. It's crazy. Being filmed and produced in 2012-2014, a 100% ahead of it's time. The characters are well written, developed, funny, and have good chemistry, the storyline is interesting, the premise is unique and has made me wish a school like this existed to attend, it covers serious moments in season 2-3: like dealing with student stress, friend ship failings, relationship problems, money issues, and loss, and it tackles decently well, the special effects, graphics still hold up today, it's funny, sad, epic, scary, it's just a bit of everything. My only problem with it was season 1. It's still great and entertaining, but not nearly as good as the later seasons. The episodes should have been longer, 30 min or so like the rest. Felt too rushed. I cared about the people in it, the story, but it was pretty campy. I understand they had a budget and couldn't probably do every single thing they wanted for part 1, but a lot of season 1 was cringe. That's just my opinion about the first season, but the rest are great with memorable characters, lines, and moments. The friendship between Brain, Ki, and Ted, was done extremely well, the bullies weren't cliche or boring, the romance was a bit off, but it got better over time. It's pretty impressive considering their finical thread they had to make it, they invented a bunch of made up games that actually would be fun to play, and the whole school setting wasn't that hard to grip or figure out. It's weird and it's not afraid to be weird. That's one of its charms. A ton of different movie genres are meshed into it, romance, action, suspense, mystery, not really horror, more like funny horror, drama. For a web series, the acting is surprisingly good. It's not bad, terrible, or strange or forced. It feels natural. The one thing I didn't get is in season 2, while Brain was struggling to pay tuition, and none of his friends offered to help him. That was kind of stupid and unrealistic. I get they were high school kids, but still...they could have at-least offered to do something. But I get it, it's for the dramatic flare. The Law became one of my fav characters in season 2, his arc was odd but hilarious. It's not that shocking that it broke youtube records at the time. It was genius. One of the best and it will continue to be. People were upset that it ended after season 3. They wanted it to go to college. But literally all the actors could barely pass off a high school students lol. They were all in their 20s to 30s when they filmed it. I think if they tried to continue it, it would be as good. They’d run out of storylines to tell. I think the ending is perfect, with highschool coming to a close. It’s bitter sweet and perfect. It’s normal. After highschool, most people that were friends don’t stay friends, and move on in their life going on different paths. I think how season 3 finished was awesome. I think they had a season 4 planned but scraped it. Maybe because they felt like the story was already told. Atleast we actually got a conclusion. There are so many other series on KZread now that are half done and abandoned for years collecting dust on forums. Back when this was filmed KZread was still very free and wild. It had only been around for 3-4 years. So this coming out probs blew people away on the platform. Lastly, is that I’m glad they aimed it for adult. Not teens or kids. I’m glad it has some swearing, sexual references, adult themes. If they had made it for a child audience, I def think it wouldn’t have performed well. But otherwise, it’s an amazing series.

I know I’m late, but I had an idea while watching Your video: The reason the joker is so abusive to Harley is because Harley had never had her one bad day. If you think about it, Harley’s confrontation with the absurd is her relationship and breakup with the joker. In modern versions of the character: she grew up in a middle class family and decided to become a psychologist, she basically cheated her way though school and went to work at Arkham. While at Arkham she met the joker, fell in love with him, broke him out, and became his sidekick. He was abusive to her, and one day they broke up. Just an idea, if anyone seeing this has anything to say or corrections to make please say something, because I think this is a fun path to go down.

It's incredible to see this show get more attention recently from Jschlatt and prior Ludwig. It's unfortunate what happened and with the change in algorithm, but these guys created something so beautiful contemporary and it'll never be written out.
