The "official" film has the Babe in the sunshine when he swings his bat, then switches to the real moment in time with part of the playing field in the shade when Ruth is circling the bases.....and yes home plate and the batter's boxes were in the shade when Babe crushed that ball. The film that was done from the stands clearly shows that.

Rick is my favourite player of all time. I am British and went on holiday to America when I was a kid. I went to see the Braves Vs Nats and Rick Ankiel hit a grand slam. Amazing times.

The mlb players Association should implement a curt Flood tax to all free agents and give it to the Flood descendants

Fernando Tatis Sr. 2 grand slams in the same inning off the same pitcher (Chan Ho Park). In order for the record to be broken, the pitcher will have to pitch to at least 22 batters in the same inning. This record will never be tied, let alone broken.

The interesting thing about 64 being his first All Star season… that was the year the Cardinals got a new manager who wasn’t a bigot. The previous manager called Flood, Gibson, etc into his office every year, told them they weren’t good enough, and encouraged them to quit. Imagine telling Bob Gibson he should give up on baseball…

Lou Gehrig says he called the shot, and another team mate agreed, forgot his name, it's in the HBO movie about Babe Ruth from around 1990.

Holy moly this guy is a mongol. Anyone with any senses of objectivity knows baseball needs a salary cap to balance the playing field. These poor players may have to accept playing a sport at just 10x what a working class person makes instead of 1000x. Gimme a break

As a Giants fan this is my favorite memory and I will always love this walk off win! Travis deserved this and I believe he’s only the second player to homer in the NLCS as a walk off homer too…if you keep at it, good things will happen! You just have to believe in yourself and surround yourself with successful people that will not allow you to fail!

Pete is a HOFer. He should be in!! There isn’t a thing wrong with betting to win!!!! NOTHING, NOT ONE THING WAS PROVEN HE BET TO LOSE!!!! If’s, maybe’s, could’ve, and might’ve, doesn’t stand up in court!!! He’s not in, because Johnny Bench has him blackballed out!!

My father, who was a teenager at the time, said that Ruth had flipped the pitcher the "bird," but that the sportswriters cleaned it up... ;-)

I heard a story on this today. Ankiel told a bunch of what happened. After he went back to the outfield, he said he could throw a strike from 250' but not from 60'. What's being learned by sports science & medicine is that this is not mainly psychological, but neuromuscular. They've been wiring up athletes and musicians who have this happen. What they see is that certain muscles used in learned skills which have become automatic through extreme repetition, like pitching, suddenly begin misfiring, freezing, or over-activating. They've wired up golfers who've lost their games, and in different players they can see a lot of the same muscles misfiring. Anxiety can make it worse, but it's not just nerves. I'm glad Ankiel got to have a second life in baseball, I hope the sports medicine folks can keep learning more to help athletes who have this happen.

Speaking of Detroit Tiger one year wonders… Joel Zumaya anyone anyone.. dude came in 2006 throwing over 100mph as a middle reliever also a pitch that was at the time fastest ever pitch at 104.8 mph ball,, Became a fan favorite for the 2006 ALCS Champion Tigers ,,everyone stood up to watch the radar when he came in and then he may or may not have hurt his arm playing Guitar hero before the ALCS depending on who you ask and was never the same again..

In think the dumbest thing about Unwritten Rules is they are so nebulous and broad. Any coach can interpret them wheatever way they want.. So if one coach feels one way and another coach feels another way it causes bench clearing brawls and arguments with the ump at home plate,
