With this video and lectures of the phlebotomy class this semester at uni, I was able to do 3 pokes on my classmate partner each getting blood. 🙌🙌

As a MA in training this is a good video. However, there were some parts that I don’t agree with, such as digging a nail into a patient. I think I’d rather remember the site with a landmark or something on the patient arm. I just did a draw yesterday on a classmate that was awful and I felt horribly. I did end up getting blood after the third try but I forgot to pull the tube out before I pulled out the needle and she had a massive pool of blood come out. It’s a process and I know it gets better with practice. Good points and I know the more I practice the better I will get.

Okay, when is the barricore needle used, like does it fit into the order of draw or is it for something else. Isn't the yellow first
@gellyjones96599 ай бұрын
Red is supposed to be used as a discard before, that's why you use 2. Yes, red comes after blue in order of draw, but you have to insert a red and fill it up with just a few drops to get to the cleaner new blood. That's what I was taught anyway.
@elainelaboy636923 күн бұрын
If you are using a butterfly needle. The red is used as a discard tube. since it doesn't have any additives, it will not contaminate the needle and the other tubes that you have to draw.

Im in phlebotomy school right now and each instructor and video and everyone in the comments have diff take on how to property do a blood draw which makes it lowkey confusing for me. My instructor wants us to pop the tourniquet right as the blood starts flowing in the tube. Another instructor from a different class told her students 2 minutes tops.( which I def dont know about that. 😬) Some people in the videos on youtube says to leave the tourniquet on for no longer than 60 seconds and keep it on within that time frame as your drawing to help push the blood into the tube, you get a better flow and more blood. Now which way do you all draw blood or how were you taught. Please if you read this send a reply. Thanks.

when i recently went through training and MA school we don’t release the tourniquet until were about to pull the needle out . when i see the tube is almost to where i need it as far as filling , i pull the tourniquet , pull the tube , then grab gauze and pull needle out all within a few seconds !

I think ideally one removes the tourniquet after flash of blood or adding first bottle, but at times we leave the tourniquet one till near the end if you can tell that removing it will disrupt or move the vein, such as elderly etc
