My channel is dedicated to those things close to my heart: DIY and outdoor pursuits.
The DIY series will cover subjects, such as, plastering, carpentry, plumbing, tiling and basic electrics, etc. I am not an expert in these areas. However, by sharing my experiences (good and bad) I hope to inspire others to have a go and invest in a few basic tools which will save them lots of cash and minimize their reliance on so-called experts who offer meaningless guarantees and little if any redress for poor workmanship. My aim is to become more self-reliant and better able to support my family in these difficult and uncertain times.
My series on outdoor activities will cover my favourite hobbies including, bushcraft, camping, hiking and cycling amongst others. These activities enable me to enjoy nature and offer respite from the stresses and frustrations of living in a world marred by conflict, political deceit, consumerism, greed and the ever spiralling decline in moral values.

It’s first come first served on the pumps
Never expose your inner legs and center part of your body to the angle grinder cutting line. You have huge arteries running on inner side of your upper leg. Always have your body on the left or right side of the grinder cutting line. Use a full face shield or motorbike helmet or what ever you have. The proper tool for this would be a skill saw 7.25 inch, the blade can cut 2x deeper and would cut this in 2 cuts.
So strong and brave blocking all the fuel pumps on purpose
They're not blocking anything
Thank you. This video just helped me put my machine together appreciated
Glad it helped. ATB, Des
I just got one today also. Do you run it off a 13amp plug or use the blue plug?
How did you do the corner trimming?
Would u need to wait for the pva to dry
Not dry, just tacky. This will give a stronger bond. ATB, Des
Maybe if you had kept the cardboard boxes from the chips and used that to heat the log it may have caught!
You're right. With all that grease that log would have lit up like a Christmas tree. ATB, Des
Wow I didn't realise how strong and brave they are !
Hell's Angles --- powered by Wild Bean Cafe 😂
Jolly boys outing as long as the van don’t blow up like del boys lol👍👍 Hanging round the loos with a camera not good look hehehe 😂😂😂😂😂
Re. hanging around public toilets with a camera - never been a problem before ..... lol
Great road trip matey!! Looking forward to the next one!!😀
Likewise matey. Take care, D
Love your videos bud , you seem great family man ,all the best 👌
Bless you! Thanks for your kind words. Des
Just the information I was looking for. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Des
A very powerful heat gun is needed to get the paint to ' melt' . i tried it with 1600 watt heat gun and it did nothing . so buy or rent something that exceeds 1600 watts
Superb looking quad, I’m seriously considering one myself. What is the cost of road insurance for one of these? I think I’m a similar age to you, 51, and I’ve no points or driving convictions on my licence.
It's going to be around £6-700 pa and there will be many conditions regarding storage, security measures, garaging, locks, chains, ground anchors, etc. These vehicles are very desirable and at high risk of theft. ATB, Des
@@21stcenturycaveman33 Wow, that is steep. Thanks for the info, I'll look into it further. 👍
My warranty for shrinkage (despite cold water hand wash and air drying) was denied. Their warranty is worthless for a hat sized and cared for by their instructions!
That certainly appears to be the case. I thnk this company will struggle going forward to compete with cheaper imports of similar quality? I may be wrong but competition in any sector these days is so fierce. Des
Just use easifill, so much easier to work with and designed for shallow infill.
Absolutely not! Easifill is not designed for filling in chases such as these. It simply isn't strong enough. It's OK to finish off though as I've done in these vids. Completely disagree with this suggestion. AVOID!!
@@21stcenturycaveman33 🙄🤣 Gyproc EasiFill 60 is a gypsum-based filler compound providing high coverage and low shrinkage. It can be used for bulk filling and finishing, and can be readily sanded to a fine, smooth finish. With a working time of just 60 minutes, the filler is both fast and versatile. This gypsum based filler compound gives high coverage and also offers low shrinkage, meaning it can be easily sanded to a very smooth finish.
No disrespect but this is a typical example of someone quoting from a product description / installation guide without understanding what they're actually reading and how to apply this knowledge in practice. You also failed to note the following: 'Up to 6mm deep holes, patches and cracks' 'Filling around socket boxes, repairing movement cracks, filling knocks or damage. Patching larger areas of plasterboard'. This is not the appropriate plaster for filling chases. It is a finishing plaster and for minor repairs only.
I refitted the floorboard in my bathrooms which were rubbing against each other and causing squeaking and groaning. They were in a terrible state, I was amazed how careless the previous workmanship was. A bit like the boards in the video. Work had been done before for piping and wiring. I guess alot of first time diyers do a terrbible first job but even the professionals can be sloppy. Happily my boards don't squaek anymore, It was painstaking work. Every board had to be removed and reset to stop them rubbing against each other.
Agree with your sentiments entirely. Sounds like you did a great job sorting this issue though. Respect, Des
@@21stcenturycaveman33 sorry forgot to say, love your video
Thank you. Very best wishes, Des
Slow as a week in the jail.
Ha, ha. I wouldn't know mate. Besides what's the rush anyway? ATB, Des
I work on price work.iff i use these i think i would just about make enough for a cuo of coffee.garbage!
Understand completely mate. But, as the title suggests this is a DIY job and I've got all the time in the world to do what I want, when I want. ATB, Des
What a waste if my time
Look forward to watching this refurb progress Des. Good to see some more progress on the property.
Thank you.
Going to be an interesting series. Those tiles were well fixed that's for sure.
Nice to see you back on the DIY. A wallpaper steamer will take that tile adhesive off no problem. Looking forward to the next video.
I'll remember that Terry. Thanks, Des
Hi mate what are your plans? I did an ensuite last year with MR board/tanking/tiles, and just about to do my first one with those shower panels
Hello Des, I'm looking forward to this series. 😊
Me too! Thanks, Des
Hi Des, looking forward to this... will be tackling our bathroom next year... what was the fascination for tiling every inch of a bathroom in the past? ours is too, just horrible!!! good luck with yours
You are right - really gives it a mental hospital vibe!!
I think the floor to ceiling tiling thing harkens back to the days of the old asylums - easier to mop up the blood? Thanks for calling, Des
@@21stcenturycaveman33 ha! could be
I love the blue tile highlight. Hope you use blue in the new bath.
Just a warning to older guys mid 30 plus to go easy doing this for the first time you need to massage your elbow's etc I used a bolster chisel like caveman ,did my bathroom like this ,gave me 7 yrs of tennis elbow 😒
Any videos of you using it?
I've got one of these posts and I accidentally let it drop, it smashed the key, the only one I've got. The lock is open but I have no idea how to replace the lock barrel - any suggestions anyone?
How about contacting the supplier / manufacturer?
Well that was a soothing video 😀 was just about to do this on some old door frames have a heat gun for doin vinyl wraps are they ok to run for longer periods or can this cause damage to the gun
Hi there and thanks for watching. I only have experience of a decorator's heat gun I'm afraid. Sorry, Des
Too small
I've seen a supposed professional on KZread leave a bloody great bubble in a doorway!
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Fantastic review - thank you! I am just not sure this longer style jacket would look OK on a shorter guy. I wasn't blessed with your genes - I am merely 5'7"...
Thanks so much buddy. You've got to remember that a smaller guy will require a smaller jacket and therefore everything ends up proportionate. Only you can decide but I certainly wouldn't cross it off the list. Personally, I don't think it would matter one bit mate. Surely, a purpose made longer jacket on a shorter guy will look the same in proportion to a taller guy such as myself? Really appreciate you dropping by my friend. ATB, Des
@@21stcenturycaveman33 Hi Des! Nice to hear from you! I just thought longer jackets in general don't look so great on us short guys. But you're right - if the proportions are OK perhaps the jacket won't emphasize height (or my lack of it) as longer coats often do. They have a nice discount on the 2022 model in gold - I have my eye on it...Also, I have been very impressed with their gloves and sweaters - very beautifully made - a top notch business to be sure.
Great review, and some good tips, stay safe and well. Could we please have some vids on the quad bike, journeys please, from surrey.
its portable man thats why you dont stretch the hose
So please explain why it has a flexible, stretching hose?
Surely if you're growing.... "crops fruits and vegetables"......in your garden and they are eating them that's a good reason, no?
Now you have had it a while what do you think. Also what pressure are you running the tyres at please. Cheers Mick
Hiya Mick. I love it buddy. However, one or two observations. The screws are rather soft and have to be treated carefully in case they round out. Secondly, the top box lets in water when you open it up after it's been raining. The rain gets trapped in the seal at the back of the box. However, clearly not an issue if you don't buy one! The seat is nice and comfy but you do have to spread your legs a little wide to mount the thing and plant your feet either side of the engine. This may be a problem if you're on the shorter side (I'm 6'4" tall). This can become a little uncomfortable after a while. However, that maybe because I'm in my late 50's and not quite as supple as I used to be? It can sometimes be difficult to get the gear knob into park. I find that I have to rock the quad sometimes to get it to go in. Although the tyre pressures are supposed to be about 7psi, I always run them about 10 or 11 psi as I am a bigger, heavier guy and I only ever ride on tarmac. I do not use the quad off road and never will. It's my summer toy! Best wishes, Des
@@21stcenturycaveman33 awesome I have just brought one but the yellow one LTX not the premium as saved a fortune. My tyres are at 7psi and you look and think is that right lol maybe they need a bit more so following your recommendation I will increase to 10psi. I’m the same weight etc so should be ok and again only go on the roads not off road. Mine has the TGB box but it’s huge and I really like the look of the smaller ones actually but maybe I just need a rear camera as you can see o et the box lol. Thanks again for your advice. 👍
Mick, good to hear your feedback buddy. Your colour scheme also looks fantastic and congrats on your purchase. There are very few of these things about so ride yours with pride. I always have a couple of cameras on mine - one on the front and one on the back. This is purely for safety though and not for observations or visibility. I'll do an upload. Basically just a couple of GoPro's in case someone clips me. Please keep in touch buddy. Any updated from you on your experiences will be gratefully received. Take care Mick

Sorry, I don't understand the question my friend. Des
great review, any more quad bike vids in the way? please,
Always more to come my friend. Just getting the time to upload. Des
I fitted a carpet myself years ago and gave myself hernia using the carpet stretcher. 😢. Good video
Thanks for your kind words mate. Hope your project goes well this weekend mate! Best wishes, Des
Gonna be doing this myself this weekend. Thank you for the video
Have fun!
How do u close them?
You can't close them as such. You just close the case and they disappear as if by magic ...... Really cool though. I love em. Des
I've had the same issue with a couple of Tilley hats, including this exact model, as well as a general dissatisfaction with their quality of late. I currently still own a ventilated summer hat but it's my last Tilley - it's pretty flimsy. I've moved on. My current waxed fedora style is by a UK manufacturer based since 1903 in Manchester. They're called Failsworth and don't sell directly but have several retail partners you can buy from. My hat is their Wax Drifter - it's made like a PROPER HAT and half the price of a shoddily thrown together modern Tilley.
I am a carpet fitter so I do know good & bad underlay bad are cheap for a reason go for cloud 9 9mm cannot go wrong.
Great feedback. Thanks very much, Des
