    Is it still possible to add roof racks into the fiberglass top? I always thought that would damage it. And also, same as roof racks. How would they be possible to secure? Would they help install an AC in that back area?

  • @benpryce

    great questions :) You definitely can add roof racks. There's an option to add reinforcements to the walls and the roof for exactly that purpose. If you contact us at [email protected] we can do the installs for you, on all three, topper, roof rack, and AC

    How much does this cost to do I want this on a special kind of van not the ram. Cause all the vans I see with these I don’t like thei I want to put on the the explore or savana.

  • @benpryce
    @benpryce5 ай бұрын

    The cost is more determined by the materials and labor to make the top, not which van its going on. Pricing is comparable for all of the models. I think with tops and install, you're looking at $3000-9000 depending on which topper you chose and what add-ons like windows, and reinforcements you choose

    Awesome video bro. Going to get one added to our Chevy Express Passenger build. How much extra weight did this top add to your build? Thanks

  • @benpryce
    @benpryce6 ай бұрын

    Thanks craig. was a fun vid to make. Definitely recommend these tops for the express too. I dont know about weight tbh, you'd have to ask Fiberine. You can keep weight off of your install by not adding the extra reinforcements. The roof reinforcements weigh the most, and are only necessary if you want to mount a roof rack through the roof, instead of through the walls. Wall reinforcements are much lighter. Just ask Fiberine what they recommend for making the top light as possible.

    try using 80/20 aluminum and see if it makes a difference.

  • @benpryce
    @benpryce8 ай бұрын

    im not a fan of 80/20. Used it on one build, and i avoid it now. For what it is, its heavy, expensive, and hard to source. Its also really slow to work with because of all of the different specialized hardware and tiny allen bolts. Instead, we now just use square tube aluminum and weld it, faster + cheaper. We also make our cabinetry out of sheet aluminum now, so everything we build is lighter, faster, and therefore more affordable to the end user.

    My guess based on their website is they don't have a lot of capital for R&D to advance their designs on these toppers. Kind of a shame because if they could spend money on advancing their designs based on market trends they'd be a lot better off. Econoline campers are hugely popular because there are so many available in the used vehicle market.

    When you are one of what the two companies I believe it is that make high tops for vans you don’t change much because you don’t have to and no one‘s gonna really pop in and replace you. as far as their website, it seem to be more of a word-of-mouth kind of business so yeah, the website could use some work and pricing.

    Can i add another brand of battery to this system? For example renogy or any other brand?

  • @benpryce
    @benpryce9 ай бұрын

    Good question! The answer is no you cannot add another type of battery. That would introduce a number of variable and complicated electrical challenges that would cause more headache and problems than its worth. Its way easier, cheaper, and safer to just buy another EcoFlow battery and stack your capacity.

    Turned out really nice. Looking forward to seeing the completed build. 2 questions. I've heard just after they install one of these, the smell of the resins and fiberglass are really strong. How long would you say the off gasing lasts. I'd be driving a long way to get to their shop and a long way back during that off gasing. I can only imagine how difficult it would be driving back home while inhaling all those noxious fumes. Secondly, would they install awning type windows instead of slider windows? Something like the arctic tern windows that would work better shedding water while open during a heavy downpour is what I had in mind. Thankyou for sharing and taking us along during this process.

  • @benpryce
    @benpryce11 ай бұрын

    There's definitely fumes if its a fresh top. I suppose you could ask Fiberine to let the top cure for a few weeks before you pickup. As far as I know, they only install their windows. You'd have to call them and ask if they would do something different. Worst case, you get a top installed without the windows, and then install your own windows later.
