I started collecting a year ago and I started feeling like I needed to catch up since I started the hobby when I did and there was so many omnis out there! I ended up selling almost everything I bought because some of it wasn’t for me, now I only collect/buy what impacts me enough and something that’d be special to me. I’m also going to limit myself to buying 1-2 books a month

FOMO is a big one.. it’s absolutely dangerous and we’ve all been through it. One of the most solid videos I’ve seen from you Mitch, I love your honesty and transparency. Over the years I’ve cut back alot on buying and budget accordingly and buy what I love and not always what I want. I hope this helps out other collectors too. As usual your lighting and presentation is always on point bro. 🤘🏾

My monthly budget means being specific with anything I want to get. So I’m still in for Tokyo Ghost (thanks for this channel), but to get it I’ll need to move a few things on. Which makes the purchase just that bit more special because I had to plan and work for it. In the meantime I have a buffer of Full Metal Alchemist which a friend has kindly leant me. I pay them back with homemade cake every five books so there’s always the borrow option as a budget option !

I’m constantly curating my collection. I read a ton, at almost 100 this year so far. If I dont see myself reading something else again then it’s in the for sale pile. As far as books being reprinted that’s not the case for a lot of what I’m reading. Which causes fomo. I read a lot of fantagraphics and smaller publishers

I really enjoyed watching your video; it resonated with me deeply. I used to read comics regularly, but I realized that with so many ongoing series, it’s not worth accumulating too many in the house. So, I decided to stop and wait for the library editions instead. Then came the omnibuses, and I found that I really needed to be selective and picky about the titles I chose. I’ve limited myself to the ones I truly want to read and keep on my bookshelf. These days, there are so many great titles that I want to buy and read, but I’m trying to be more discerning by reading online reviews first. Space in my house is limited, and books are expensive in my country. I completely agree with you-what would happen to all these books if I’m gone? I don’t want to burden my family with that. I’ve also noticed that more and more books are getting printed, and without sponsorship,Hehehe, buying them can be very expensive for me. I used to get caught up in the fear of missing out (FOMO) and kept buying omnibuses, but I’m glad I realized that reading them can burn you out-they take a long time to finish. So, I’ve had to sit down and rethink things. I’m not a collector, so why was I buying books that I don’t think I’ll enjoy? That’s why I stopped. Your video today really hit home, and I wanted to thank you for that. Sorry Mitch for the super long comments. 😂

@stickygoose this is one of those thoughts that you should have stopped way before it reached your finger tips. It’s up to the creator how to frame their vids. Ask yourself if someone said in your vids “waaay too close” or “waaaay too far away”, would you change a thing? I doubt it, as it done and done in the way you wanted. You would just get irritated that someone has made such a fatuous point.
