Scratch building Warhammer 40k Terrain
I've caught the crafting bug BIG TIME & I couldn't be more excited! After buying a box of three Space Marines & paints I was bitten buy the 40k bug for the first time in 20 years. It's a very different hobby for me this time round & I have become obsessed with scratch building terrain to rival Games Workshops plastic kits.

The template idea is absolutely mint! I would love to see your take on zone mortalis tiles, columns walls, stairs, etc using the same concept!!
Those ideas are being worked on as I type! Zone Mortalis is a very important part of my biggest project to date. If you like the templates watch this space! I have come up with a template template system that makes it even easier to build exactly what you want & easily repeatable.
@@WulvenKraft Oh hell freakin yes!!
Incredible video for beginners like me, thank you very much !😊
I was a beginner when I made this video, if I can do it anyone can. Good luck!
@@WulvenKraft thank you
Thank you for checking on it! I have since ordered the Falcon2-22w.
You won't regret it! I'm loving my machine.
Great Product placement :)
Thank you Aki, it's leading to a much bigger project that I can hopefully give everyone access to for almost any Sci-fi wargame.
@@WulvenKraft Ouuuuh, I'm excited! Keep it comin!
Really glad I clicked in here - not finding the Creality link to work tho
Glad you popped in! I have reached out to my contact at Creality. As it stands I believe the link & code are related to the UK store, I'm hoping we can do something about broadening that asap.
Looks good! Between this vid and a similar one from Miniature Hobbyist, I definitely am hooked on getting one for MDF terrain (Necromunda and 40k) once things get better for me and work. Really love how you made your template & testing pieces. Thanks!
Thank you, I hope things get better soon!
Just tried the discount code and it says it is already expired
I have reached out to my contact too find out what is going on. I'll keep you updated.
My contact has told me the code is permanent & works with the UK site. I have asked about expanding that to the US site as well with most of our community in the UK & US. I haven't had a reply to date.
Fantastic! I can’t wait to get one! Great video!
Aye, they are cracking machines!
The new crates look rad as, about to try make the cardboard/foam ones later this week
Much more to come but it will take some time.
Fantastic video mate! Great partnership and really looking forward to seeing you continue to explore your designs with the machinery.
I have plans ... MUAHAHAHA
I recently pulled the trigger on one of these too. Hasn't arrived yet though. I wanted one for a long time but what stopped me was safety issues. I don't trust a open laser even with goggles and just low power.
Aye this thing is decent! All you get with the enclosure is a hint of a smell, but I'm a trained woodsmith, I love that smell. The extraction does a great job!
God this is so cool.
Oh yeah! Completely changed my views on MDF & terrain building.
Thanks for this video. I have an older Crealty Falcon 2 laser engraver , without the encloser or camera. You have made it easier to get back into.
The camera is not needed at all but I guess that just my Woodsmith knowledge 🤣. I wouldn't have even considered using this without the enclosure but I don't have a dedicated space for wood working. They do do a canvas enclosure for the original Falcon. Good luck!
Creality have kindly offered our community a 15% on the Creality Falcon2 Pro, links & code in the description!
Incredible build. Would love to see more stuff like this.
Oh there's more coming!
To see a rat rod in real life and figuring out how it works is an amazing feeling.
I bet! Shame we don't have them over here.
Cheers for the idea. I will use it to build one for my local group and also shared this to the thanes of the great hall
You are very welcome!
I think it’s amazing that you can pretty much kitbash any vehicle into an ork vehicle.
Agreed!
I saw ork and I clicked
🤟
🤟
I swear you use to have a video on how you made boards, not just the terrain.
I have always used wooden canvas' of some variety for boards, far more convenient & often cheaper. That said I am looking at making some in the future based on the same principle of being able to hang them on a wall.
Orks find Humie Bug car not Ork enough. Now Ork has WAARGGHH Wagon (nice kit bash out of a revel kit)
Thank you! 🤘
Amazing! How did you craft those window gratings/grids or whatever it is called?
The windows were re-worked STL files I found for free on the internet.
Awesome
🤘
super cool, love this style of diy homemade middlehammer building
I appreciate that mate.
This is awesome! Love how it came out! My only real Critcism is, how is that you don't have a Polystyrene Cutter? They're not that expensive, and they make it SO MUCH easier!
I have never needed one, my Proxxon does all of my heavy lifting. This was the first time I was working with foam that didn't fit it.
a hot wire cutter is lik a tenner lol
I'd rather have the four pints of larger that tenner would buy 🤣
This gives me hope for doing my first Ork vehicle based on a Dodge Charger. Thank you for this video.
This comment makes the whole video worthwhile!
how did you make the floor?
Do you mean the wooden panels? If so I didn't, they are Artists Wooden Canvas'. Readily available, cheap & make the process easier & quicker. If you mean the stone work & roads, it's just cut foam & very thin cork sheets.
@@WulvenKraft i meam the brick tiles
@@sheolmtv9877 Just cut XPS foam, then shake them about in a tub full of stones to texture them.
Why do the end of your vids cut off like they do?
I'm not overly keen on the whole 'glamour shots ending' as you've been watching build through the video & they about the build not the painting. I also find ending the videos difficult verbally as I'm not comfortable with the whole like share subscribe routine. Plus the way that KZread operates with the suggested video at the end from a editing point of view, I don't like just leaving the last frame hanging around for 15-20 seconds, as a viewer I find that lazy & because we can choose the timing that those appear I try & time it so they pop up as my video cuts. Then there are also retention issues, another reason I'm not keen on glamour shots. The moment a viewer knows the video is ending they leave & often don't see the end screens so don't see related videos. My videos that cut tend to have better CTR rates on end screens.
@@WulvenKraft It's extreamly abrupt the way the vids end though. Abruptly and jagged actually.
@@Boonedale Maybe, but it is worth knowing your are talking about a video from a year ago & all the experience I have editing is on KZread. 16 Videos isn't many & I am learning with every one.
@@WulvenKraft Sounds good.
This looks better than the GW Sanctum Administratus kit. Well played, sir, well played.
Very kind of you to say!
Looks great
🤘
Needs battle damage and crenellations...skulls gears bolts eagles would be nice . Looks super good just to plain
Oh this is far from finished
This is genius. Well done. Love it.
Thank you🤘
These look like the same templates from your ruined city gaming board video from a while back. I still have mine, are there any new templates in this or will I be good using the ones from the last time? Looks great, can't wait to see what's next! P.S. if you ever get the urge to turn that fractal battlemap concept into infinitely modular trench game boards, I'll be there waiting for you 😂 l. You inspired my first ever diy terrain, thanks for opening me up to this side of the hobby. Cheers, mate!
They are the very same templates with very minor modifications to suit this project. That's why I printed the paper version. You could very easily do the design work just using the paper templates to see where you would want to make adjustments. That last paragraph has made my day!
That looks amazing. I completely agree with you about bases on terrain. I have avoided using them on my stuff. I don't want to cover my fancy battle mat. This was a great tutorial. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! Lovin' your name!
Nice video
I am honoured! Thank you Sir.
Give ladders a rail and you dont need to let go of your gun
These were the first buildings I ever crafted, I've come a long way since then.
That basing solution is absolutely genius
even if I do say so myself! 🤣. That's my 'good ideas for year' quota full now though 🤣
