New content every week!
I see beer as a unifying force for all people and a common thread that allows those who never would have spoken to eachother to have deep and meaningful discussions and ultimately, connections. I am all about the science and process of brewing but also about breaking down barriers. The name Iconoclast comes from our values centering around doing things differently and questioning common brewing knowledge!
I mostly focus on videos centered on brewing process, recipe formulation, cutting-edge brewing concepts, and reviews of products.

Wow! This is gold. It equals about a year of learning for me in one video. Straight to the point without compromising the reasoning behind everything. ❤
Thank you for checking it out and the awesome feedback! Glad to hear it was useful. I'll keep this kind of content flowing! 🍻🍻
Thanks man I appreciate the info!!
Glad it was useful! More like this one will be on the way soon
Hello 👋 good work ! Your only going to get better 🏆
Hello found you on Reddit. Great intro. And new sub 😊
Thanks for the kind words! 🍻🍻

With adding the extract in the last 10 minutes of the boil, how do you adjust for hop utilization? When I do late addition extract on a brewing calc (Brewer’s Friend) it sends the IBUs through the roof! Do you just adjust the hop amounts in the recipe when adding extract that late? Thanks for all the tips, it was really interesting.
Yes you are absolutely right! Hops utilization does act differently in just water versus a solution with some gravity. You have a couple options: You could add just enough DME or LME to the boil when you add your bittering addition to get the utilization to a reasonable point, or you could play with the timing of the addition. I would personally go with the first option.
Hi, how did you get on with the wine kit in the igulu, i have had some great brews in the igulu, but the reviews have seemed to dried up now, kind regards from uk.
Not quite done yet, but because I have total control of the fermentation schedule with the pro features I have every reason to believe it's going to come out great. The video should be ready right around August 1!
@@iconoclastbrewing Thanks for letting me know, I am looking forward to watching the video 👍
Hey, just found your channel! Good stuff, the iGulu popped up so often I definitely feel like I would love to try it. Especially as a ferm chamber / kegerator combination for experimental batches. Do you know if you can get a second fermenter as a replacement ? Cheers from Germany 🍻
Thank you for checking out the channel! I'm actually thinking along the same lines as you with using it for experimental batches. Yes you can totally buy additional vessels to use with it here. I'm doing the same and using it for wine! igulu.com/collections/accessories Cheers!🍻🍻 If you end up getting an F1, you can get 20% off using my link and code! Effervescence.... isn't that the hard rock band with that lead singer chick Amy Lee?
Effervescence might not rock as hard as Amy Lee, but it definitely adds some sparkle to life!

Thanks for this great video, I am awaiting my igulu f1 in the UK, really looking forward to the tasting video, and I have seen videos of making hard cider in the f1,I'm wondering if it would be possible to do a 1 gallon wine kit
It actually is able to do wine! I have a Moscato wine kit fermenting in it right now and will be able to post a how-to and tasting in about a month. Thanks for watching 🙏
@@iconoclastbrewing Thats fantastic, i will look forward to that, thanks
I want to see the beer and hear your thoughts on its quality!
Thanks for checking us out Marshall! We should have that tasting video posted on Monday. We're going to be doing a little experimentation and making a small batch of Moscato on the F1 as well.
Can this be added after fermentation has completed to help remove diacetyl from a beer it's detected in after the fact?
ALDC is meant to prevent diacetyl formation before it occurs, so it does not work on diacetyl directly. If you have diacetyl I would recommend doing a D-Rest and letting the yeast clean up. Taste it every 24 hours or so to see how it is doing with cleanup! The in-depth version: Alpha-acetolactate to Acetoin: ALDC converts α-acetolactate to acetoin by decarboxylation, preventing the formation of diacetyl. Diacetyl to Acetoin: The conversion of diacetyl to acetoin generally occurs through a different enzyme called diacetyl reductase.
Great video! Thanks! Glad to hear more trub isn’t a bad thing because I autosiphon from a kettle to a carboy and it’s impossible not to have a decent amount of trub haha😂
Totally agree, I don't even worry about trub nowadays! Thanks for watching!
