Such a beautiful and relatable video all in all. Don't know how KZread found to recommend this right now haha I think it's such a valuable lesson to be okay, like really okay being present in the moment. It's so easy to lose time on planning life instead of truly living in, with all the senses. I'm turning 25 and it seems that all the cliches of life are so true!! Lots of light for you from Finland!

My brother. First of all, about the last part of the video : please don't feel like you've underdone something, you didn't. This is a wonderful video. Second, I loved to see that you are not alone. You have a girlfriend, a cat and a therapist. I feel like this team has got your back. You haven't asked for any advice, but I'm gonna give it to you. If it's not what you need right now, please don't read any further. I've recently turned 37. In different priods of my life I've delt with different shit like panic attacks, anxiety disorder, neurosis and other issues. I was before and am now in therapy. 1. Be proud. It takes balls to admit to yourself you need help and even bigger ones to lay it out there for any stranger on youtube to see like you just did. 2. Get out of your head and into your body. Work out. Whatever your preference is, gym, martial arts, hockey, whatever. Find yourself a coach with a functioning brain and a heart (both mandatory) and stick with them. I'm a coach and a competing powerlifter, just trust me on this one, it WILL help. 3. Keep making these. You're good at it. Really good. It's probably a bit weird to say it was a pleasure to watch a video of such contents but it was. It is really well made. Be well, my friend. Looking forward to watching the next episodes, Roman.

Thank you for your comment Roman. It means a lot. Thank you for your encouragement and kind words, and also thank you for your advice. I 100% agree with you when you say "get out of your head and into your body". I've been doing yoga, cold exposure and breath work, and that has helped me be present and in the moment, by being aware of my body, rather than being drowned by my own thoughts. Also, thank you for sharing some of your struggles as well. I wish you all the best!

I really enjoyed watching this video and hearing about how cinema has helped you find yourself. One thing I would like to add is that making a good film is just the end result of a long process and that process is really just a highly stylised version of telling a story. Cinema is definitely one of my favourite forms of media but the idea of telling a story is so important to us as people, as a society, as a civilisation. It is so primal and why I feel it is so important. Maybe you will never get to be a film director and make your own movie just how you want but you can still tell stories, even if they are to smaller groups of friends or us viewers here on your channel. It is not the destination but the journey that makes a story and I look forward to hearing more of yours. Stay the wonder my dude.

It's a shame you weren't around before all the franchise films and Marvel films dominated the theaters. Rain Man won at the box office and the Oscars in I believe 1988. Now production companies don't want to take risks on stuff like that anymore. We're in the era where movie stars are dead and movie CHARACTERS reign supreme, even if they get panned. As long as people pay for them they will forever get made. And now a film like Rain Man or Barton Fink, or Sex Lies and Videotape and all of the great award winning films of yesteryear would be released on A24 and only watched by a fraction of the viewership because they'd be sidelined to only arthouse theaters. Cinema is dying. A great documentary on here is this..... a must watch for any fan of cinema, no matter the genre. These franchise films are films, they are candy. Great to see younger people getting into film, but ya gotta boycott the franchise cookie cutter stuff or else they'll stop making real films, lol. I'm sure you do, but we gotta spread the word to others. :) Love the video. Peace friend. And check this out. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hIV6mpSEmpDcYKg.html&ab_channel=Patrick%28H%29Willems

Very glad I found your channel as I just recently pondered this same topic. Although I haven't checked out your other videos yet, I'd still like to add voice to a piece of my mind, which hopefully you take as points of improvement. First off, there aren't any absolute ups and downs in this video. Your tonality by itself is not an issue but the lack of some basic theatrics definitely points out an unpleasant sense of boredom which usually accompanies these mental topics. If you didn't segment the narrative into several acts pre-production, you definitely should. And please for the love of god utilize pauses. I can see some attempts at this and props to you for it, do way more of them and form your narrative in a way that these can be impactful. Lots of potential, keep it up!

Love the point that although not philosophically possible, self-forgiveness is psychologically necessary. I would be curious to know more about the potential psychologically necessary conditions for self-forgiveness. I know they were discussed by the philosopher you mentioned, but what would it take for the character Lee to forgive himself for example?
@latenightreflections_ Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I guess with regards to Lee, although this might be cynical, he will never be able to fully forgive himself. All he can do is move closer and closer to a place where he can at least live with himself. A place where he can start enjoying aspects of his life again. But I think, he will continue to have regret, guilt and shame throughout his whole life. Perhaps a possible answer for him, to at least have a meaningful life, is to use those negative affective states to create something meaningful. He can be there for Patrick. He can join communities and connect and engage with people who have also experienced tragedy in their own lives. In a way, maybe his best option is to use those strong emotions to create something meaningful, instead of trying to escape from them.

@@latenightreflections_ thank you!! I agree. I think that’s why one of the most heartbreaking moments in the movie for me is when he talks to his ex-wife and he can barely even speak to her and just keeps saying “there’s nothing there” like you showed in the video. He’s so buried in his own shame.
