You'll find more videos on Volkswagen camper heritage, celebrating T1 Splitties, T2 Bay Windows, T3 / T25 wedges and the modern generations of T4s, T5s and T6 models including VW Californias.
And coming soon - tons of travel videos from my epic, year-long, 21,000 mile campervan road trip through 20 european countries!

Have owned our 1970 Early Bay (Dormobile) for about 14 years and love it. Would always prefer to be away in it than any 5 star hotel. About to take the ferry to Spain and then drive back to the UK in it - fingers crossed it keeps going...!
Stating the bleeding obvious
Before buying a van, please check that they do come with a spare tyre.
Im sorry but what kind of roof is that? Is that in factory made or custom made by people? Im new into t4 camping style…if anybody could answer I would appreciate it really
Just bought a 73’ Westy and having a great time. 🚌💨
Where are the locations of vin plates and vin numbers as I'm viewing one in Wednesday your book is great🎉
i hear the 1.9 engine is known to be unreliable. true n which one? thx
i have the opportunity to buy a 1999 T4 1.9TD Diesel at a bargain, however i am concerned about the lack of power on steeper terrain and the lack of aircon... I do plan on taking it to the south parts of France for example
Gear mods and a retrofit air con unit. Go for it, had mine for a month now and its the best vehicle I've ever owned.
I have your book on order through the price range as I'm looking for one what sort of money should you budget for ie... bottom price average condition and top condition examples many thanks

No no no no no... just no
I run a 1998 T4 Multivan 2.5 tdi 102 bhp that I bought 8 years ago as a first 'taster' van for taking the family away camping and mountain biking. I've had a variety of interesting cars over the years but the T4 is just a wonderful thing. Great comfort and visibility, with a superb engine in the 2.5 as it will cruise all day on the motorway while returning reasonable fuel economy. I've kept it standard, so just use a portable stove when we're away. If it's just me then I'll use the bed, otherwise take a tent as well. Towbar and rack carries four bikes effortlessly. Also the Multivan makes a great taxi for transporting peeps around to events as it'll carry seven. Getting a bit crusty on the front arches and sills which can be a common issue, but they're a pretty solid van. I'll definitely miss it when it comes time to move on.
German engineering, reliability and beauty disguised as plainness. What more can be said?
Found my T4 Westfalia with the Kitchen and pop-up top for £250. They are old, yes - but easy to maintain and still easy to get parts.
What a bargain!
@@Thecampervanchannel -one of my best - indeed!
Good advice
Thanks. Hope it helps.
2:30pm I like this but I am in Nigeria I would like to chat with you
I am a Vivaro owner and big fan, but fair play to you guys you have done well...and you have a pride and joy and that the main thing. Brings a smile. I get the fact that you won't sell, I feel the same, did a 10,000km run to Greece and Turkey last year and off the Alps, Slovenia and Italy next month. See you guys on the road and enjoy.
I love them Volkswagen camper vans I'd love to own one myself
My bay van was 50 years old oct 2023 .still going strong 💪.
Excellent! And well done.
mine too!
T4 1997 2,5 petrol, 115 hp, 123000 km on the meter, homebuild camper interior, I’m proud what I did to It in two years during the pandemic. Now I enjoy it 100%.
Sounds like an ideal pandemic project!
, and that’s how I found your channel and the inspiration to start my built so thnx.👍
Where all those vans park? One is not allowed to park on a private land. And all lands are private.
The bully T1 is iconic and more beautiful ! After ....
I have fixed the radio, the radio aerial fixing, done my own service, attacked some seam rash rust quite well.. All for love ❤️
Truly impressive!
I have a 1990 T25 Autosleeper...and I LOVE her..❤... x
Apart from breaking down a few miles after buying...😂😂 Happened to me...
Got mine 2002 Caravelle two weeks now and fell in love immediately
T4 are the best, love mine. You never stop learning to be a mechanic when you own a T4 😂
Camper van Channel ! OTHER CAMPERVANS are available. ??????????????
😘 "PromoSM"
T4 are ok but we'll overrated. They are old so a money out. Today they are dated and noisy and slow
Very enjoyable video. Just one point; the Last Edition was originally planned as a run as you reported of 600 but in fact they changed this to a run of 1200. Anyway, great video - and I love the book too :-)
Next year is the big 5-0 for my '74 Westy. Purchased 12 years ago with 145,000 miles on the original engine, I put 9K on it in 10 years and then upgraded/rebuilt the engine a year ago. I grew up in one in the '70s and then got one of my own. My family thinks I'm crazy.
Absolutely nothing crazy about that!
Isn’t this the basis for the Eurovan campers we see in the States?
It is indeed! (Mentioned in the video description). Would be good to hear Stateside views on these vans.
Sorry mate, you missed to mention the V6 24v 204 hp there.. cheers from Indonesia😊
Hi folks! Apologies for the sound glitch in previous version of this video. All sorted. Now you can hear those air-cooled burbles in all their splendour!
I have a Vanagon T3 westfalia, and she works like a charm recently just paid for a new clutch, and I love her!
T25s are great (IMO), old enough to be quirky, yet modern enough to be comfortable with good road-holding. Due to their age, if you want a vehicle, you can forget about that will only require a service and mot every year, then don't get one, you will either need time to work on it yourself or money if you want someone else to do it...but rarely both. They are mechanically straightforward, so they are a pleasure to work on (compared to a T5/T6). Unlike its replacements, they are also quite large inside for their size, as the entire vehicle length is used for interior space. Mine has a Subaru conversion, it's never let me down. It has enough poke to keep up with modern traffic. Great Van.
Fantastic summary. Thank you.
I've got a 68 Westfalia (there's some vids of it on mine and my sons channel). Love it to bits. Had loads of Air-cooled vdubs. This must have been filmed a couple of years ago as a 68 is 55yrs old now!
Well calculated. Editing a bit delayed by a year-long campervan trip through Europe - so just catching up!
Always wanted one for over 20 years. Still no nearer to getting one though!
Would be quite a commitment it seems!
I absolutely love my 84 westy. All original and no rust. Originally from AZ. I live in CA, so no threat of rot. Originally I wanted a T2 but this one fell into my lap and I couldn't be happier. Recently returned from a 2,000 mile road trip from CA to Oregon and back, with no issues. What a sweet bus. Great to see others love these busses as much as I do. Awesome videos.
Great to hear from you!
Owned two - great camping platforms and loads of character, but you need to be a mechanic, or be very good friends with a mechanic!
Just exported mine to the states for my honeymoon. Barely made it to the port to ship her but she made it. A little bit of work and we’ll be on the road again.
Sounds fantastic... have a great trip!
Great to see your back Chris. Your videos are really entertaining 👍
Thanks! Been on a year-long campervan adventure through Europe. Filmed loads. So many more videos to follow!
@@Thecampervanchannel I think you have a good persona for youtube videos. Like "big car". Obviously i own a T4 and look forward to more videos for T4 👍
Welcome back! :)
Why thank you!
T3 is the best. I own 2: one air cooled the other water cooled
The best of both worlds!
They sure are comfortable. I've had an '85 Westy for years. Seems like they have a plethora of electrical gizmos which tend to act up a bit much, though, and hence, the Subaru conversions. Mine's still original and, amazingly, hasn't given us many problems. Cheers.
I WISHD ID HAD SOME DAY T1-T4 AND T2 MODELS FROM 1969.1970.1971.1972 AND T3 MODELS 1983 AND 1987 AND T1 MODELS 1967. 1968. 1969
I LIKE T1 TO T3 AND T4
NICE
Until today, Pon is still the importer of Volkswagens for The Netherlands.
Great to have that heritage
The bulkhead issue. The first step in conversion, once the bulkhead comes out of the panel van, can it still be driven on the road legally. Can it be insured as a panel van without bulkhead
Hands up! I don't know. Never come across this. I guess it's an adaption to a van so something to discuss with your specific insurer. Anyone else any suggestions?
