The VW T3, T25 or #vanagon (as America calls it), makes a great campervan. And if you're looking for a classic camper, it's often seen as an entry model. But what are #VWt3 campervans really like to live with? I met up with two enthusaistic owners at the annual "Field of Dreams" VW meet in York, England to find out. Alan Green and Tim Fell have decades of owning these slightly fragile classics which, due to their hard-edged styling are also known affectinately as "wedges" or "bricks". They cover everything from what to look for when buying a #VWT25 campervan to a no-nonsense low-down on what you can expect in terms of repairs and maintenance - and dealing with the dreaded rust. This film features the views of these two owners - but everyone's experience of the third generation VW Transporter is different. I absolutely love my 84 westy. All original and no rust. Originally from AZ. I live in CA, so no threat of rot. Originally I wanted a T2 but this one fell into my lap and I couldn't be happier. Recently returned from a 2,000 mile road trip from CA to Oregon and back, with no issues. What a sweet bus. Great to see others love these busses as much as I do. Awesome videos.

I have a Vanagon T3 westfalia, and she works like a charm recently just paid for a new clutch, and I love her!
Owned two - great camping platforms and loads of character, but you need to be a mechanic, or be very good friends with a mechanic!

@@Thecampervanchannel I think you have a good persona for youtube videos. Like "big car". Obviously i own a T4 and look forward to more videos for T4 👍
T25s are great (IMO), old enough to be quirky, yet modern enough to be comfortable with good road-holding. Due to their age, if you want a vehicle, you can forget about that will only require a service and mot every year, then don't get one, you will either need time to work on it yourself or money if you want someone else to do it...but rarely both. They are mechanically straightforward, so they are a pleasure to work on (compared to a T5/T6). Unlike its replacements, they are also quite large inside for their size, as the entire vehicle length is used for interior space. Mine has a Subaru conversion, it's never let me down. It has enough poke to keep up with modern traffic. Great Van.

I have fixed the radio, the radio aerial fixing, done my own service, attacked some seam rash rust quite well.. All for love ❤️

Truly impressive!
Just exported mine to the states for my honeymoon. Barely made it to the port to ship her but she made it. A little bit of work and we’ll be on the road again.
