Watching this 33 years after its occurrence, there is something profoundly hopeful about the way that John assures Anthony that "we'll be fine" before playing such a beautiful rendition of this song. This belongs in a time capsule. Thank you both for your contributions to the world of music.

That was a really great retrospective of the band! I worked at a radio station in the mid 80s and I was an early fan of punk funk. There was another band from LA. The vandals they had a great song lady killer the Red Hot chili peppers played a party that we had when they had the single real men don’t eat coyotes yeah check out ladykiller when I went to see the vandals at the punk club in San Francisco called the mab, the guy had a record player strapped on like a guitar and he was scratching. It was amazing!

I ❤ Chris Rock, don’t get me wrong. However. I really wish A FELLOW MUSICIAN would’ve done the induction because the Pepper’s MUSICALITY!! OF ALL THE MEMBERS PAST AND PRESENT- POETIC-NESS!CREATIVENESS!! MUSICIANSHIP, THEIR ORIGINALITY THAT THEY’VE STUCK WITH ALL THESE YEARS! ANTHONY’S VOCAL RANGE AND DEPTH AND TALENT, ETC. ARE FREAKING OUTSTANDING AND I THINK UNFORTUNATELY THIS ALL OVERLOOKED OR MAYBE JUST NOT PUBLICLY WIDELY TALKED ABOUT. BUT IT SHOULD BE. ❤❤❤

Classic record, deserves more recognition. Has a unique wistful, despondent sound, prototypical of a lot of later 90s music. Much of it was written in 91 and 92 as well. A lot of darker, atmospheric albums of that era were down tempo or post rock, but Niandra was an experimental avant-garde fusion of classic rock, soul&funk, and punk. Hard to define what it is, but it’s a special masterpiece in its own right, the quintessential quarter life crisis album. I’ve listened to a few thousand records, and nothing comes close to capturing sadness and detachment quite like it. His guitar actually weeps, reminisces and evokes more emotion than even John who is practically wailing on the album. Amazing work of art, I always return to this album.
