Started with HOI3 when i was but a tiny kid I now play CK2 as an adult. Looking back, i probably shouldnt have spent the past decade on wasting my shot at a social life for maps

It is unavoidable that the sequal will be compared to the previous game even if it has had over a decade of updates. Is it unfair to the new game in this case? Yes it is, but its incredibly toxic to be mad at the consumers for it. For us its a simple choice why should i olay this game that is simply worse then the one we already have in nearly every way. Its just natural.

The paradox curse is that they launch new games full of bugs and empty in content, they have a beta and launch it with a day one "royal version" with 2 future dlcs include, you don't know if those dlcs are going to be good. I love eu4 the complete eu4, is almost unplayable without dlcs the same with ck2, stellaris, hoi4, I don't know if is unplayable ck3 and vic3 because I don't have them but eventualy the will be

My game crashes because of Paradox, and says I need update paradox, but it says files doesn't exist so I could never play Ck3 ever since. Does anybody have this problem? I need help

don't defend paradox, firstly, they don't deserve you defending them, there's no reason to do it, they're a company, not your friend, secondly, ck2, and eu4, were the first games they made massive amounts of dlc for, eu3 and vic2 had 1 or 2 dlcs that's it, i understand paradox wants to get another 500+ dollars out of me worth of dlc for every game they make over time, but i'd have to say that if they don't make mechanics that are similar or functional side grades to all mechanics that we have now in any of the games, in the next version, of course people are going to be annoyed, because what's the point of playing the bare bones version, it's like paradox is competing with htemselves, but they cna'/t even make something as good as the previous version, i don't need to hear that it was a decade of development that made the games what they are, but they know what they need to add now, so if they want eu5 to be day 1 good, they need to not fuck it up and have enough content and falavor from the get go, the curse of paradox is that i've given this company hundreds and hundreds of dollars for individual games and i expect more of them because they deserve to have more expected of them, they found out with imperator that people aren't just gonna accept a bare bones dlc vehicle and they shouldn't demand more from intial releases from paradox from now on.

here's the thing, it's their own fault and i don't really care how popular or not popular one of their games was or wasn't, in the end, the game has to be more fun than it's predcessor or it's dogshit, simple as, if they can't do that at launch, they're only gonna get more shit till they fix the dogshit state of hte games over time, i literally will not buy eu5 till i see it played by streamers, and i'm not trusting what they say about it, i'm watching how it plays.

I have been playing HOI, from HOI I through HOI IV. I really like where they have taken the franchise, and await HOI V. I also play Stellaris though play HOI IV mostly.

I love CK 2, I always feel like I have no clue what I am doing and wind up restarting minutes to an hour into a playthrough. But my last save I figured I’d just let it play out, I found out about societies and found out a secret organization existed (LO) and figured I’d join it. After a while I had a demon spawn child who killed me, when my heir took over I made the mistake of banishibg him instead of throwing him in a dungeon or killing him so now he comes around every year or so and raises havoc and death to me and my heirs. He’s 2nd in line to the current player and idk what to do. I guess it’ll be interesting to play as him and wreck havoc from my point of view. Great game

CK2 embraces the silliness of old Paradox. In CK 3 I am a viking who is dismantling the pope, i shouldn't be bored. Before i took all of Italy the Pope called a Crusade for Italy and not a single major European power joined. I was fighting Counts and Dukes in a literal Crusade for Rome. France,Germany,Bavaria and England couldn't be bothered with trying to retake Rome from Viking savages.

What I love with the council is that you can give enough power to the council to think they are in power or for your liege to think he has power by pulling strings in the shadow. Full Intrigue/Stewardship charcater is just something else compared to CK3.

Even though I was a Paradox gamer back in the days (lots of hours in EU III DW) Rome II absolutely monopolized my gaming time for the past 8 years or so. I purchased this game on sale but barely played it for 1h, it happened the same with Stellaris. I can see they are great games, and that I'd probably enjoy them a lot, but I feel too old to learn such a plethora of mechanics.

The only thing insane about this is it took them this long to even begin to address the completely broken economy on release. Previously all the game had was a command economy (i.e. socialism/communism). From your review it looks that at least some of that has been addressed. All they needed to do was copy the system in Vic 2 and it would have been excellent with the eye candy updates. Curious to see how this overpriced patch (not a dlc, should be a free fix for an unfinished game on release) actually works in detail.

I started with hoi4 and after about 5 months i have 470 hours and i have just begun my eu4 experience and plan to take on Victoria 3 But everyone i talk with say that vici3 i harder then hoi4

I started with CK3, did not get into it andtook my money back (after 3 hours). CK2 is free to play so i tried it. The tutorial is better but still too small for such a complex game. The Playthroughs of a certain Legend showed me some tricks and hints. What makes CK2 for me better? -character portraits and ui look overall more suitable for a medieval game. The CK3 Ui would be fine if it was for a science fiction game. -conquering counties feels more satisfiying because you have to conquer each barony. -Last but not least, CK2 is basically finished. It wont get new dlcs. What I buy is what I get. I am not a big fan of abos and just used that option in order to see which dlcs are good/necessary. Probably, I will give CK3 a second chance in 2028 - when it has all dlcs and is on sale:D

Yeah I think this rating is spot on. I started with CK3 when it only had the northern lords flavor pack, got it on a free weekend and tried it, had to buy it after that, it got me so addicted. I would say it's the easiest of them all. Then I bought Stellaris, which I've always known about since it's release cause there weren't any space-empire simulators out there and therefore it catched my attention from the get go, amazing game although I really haven't played for like a year or so. Then earlier this year I got V3 cause in a sense it's somewhat like the opposite of CK3, it had a much more deep trading and economic mechanics. In Vicky 3 you gotta develop your industry in all aspects, while trying to cope with the growth of other nations and their political implications. I tried EU4 but I played it very few times so I kinda don't have the right knowledge to judge the game. In my opinion CK3 is the way to go if u wanna start in the diverse paradox games.

TBH the war system of like eu4, ck3, imperator, is outdated. chasing around AI stacks that randomly merge with other armies, stop attacking when you need them to attack, march through bad terrain and die to attrition, bouncing off sieges, etc. it was a necessary change,

Imperator:Rome and Victoria 3 are tied as my favourite Paradox Interactive games. It's because other Paradox grand strategy games are only give very basic simulations of demographics and economies.
