It's a good one! Low capacity, but it's one of the most durable (if not the most durable) small framed .357 Mag revolvers on the market.

I have one of these. I got it for $200 from a guy who needed cash. I love, love, love it. I can't hunt deer where I am with it, although I have taken a lot of deer with my S&W 629 Classic. I love .44 magnum. I had a relative from Germany over one time and showed it to him. He really wanted it. He is a member of a guild, and they are responsible for wildlife management in a particular region. He takes about 50 deer and 50 hogs a year. The guild is actually responsible if there is too much crop damage from the game, so they have at it. They can also sell the meat. His wife had (has?) a sideline butchering them and selling the meat. He was actually a high-level official in the German government and his wife was a schoolteacher. Of course, I didn't show him my Mosin-Nagant from 1942. His uncle was a captain in the German army and died on the eastern front.

My first semi-auto was a S&W SW40F. When I bought it in the mid-1990s, right when they came out, it was the new thing. I was a S&W fan. My first handgun was a S&W 629 Classic with which I have taken a lot of deer. My father was also from the Springfield, MA area. So, I wanted a S&W. The thing about the SW40F was that it was the new thing in the new caliber. Remember the craze for the .40 S&W cartridge at the time? I really liked the metal frame S&W semi-autos, but the SW40F was about half the price. Another consideration. Frankly, it has worked out fine for me, although I now have lots of other handguns. I have been seeing lots of 59 series and even 69 series S&Ws on sites like Aim Surplus lately. I am really considering it.

It's the only 1911 I own. Sadly, I couldn't get mine to reliably feed my JHP carry ammo (230 gr Win Ranger-T)...it runs lawlessly with ball ammo of course. At some point, may pick up a variety of JHP and try again.

I recently acquired one in the model 25-7, Model 1989 45 cal. It has the unfluted cylinder in 45 Colt, 5 inch barrel. A bit more rare than some of the M25's. I believe there were only around 2000 produced. So far it has been a great revolver. Very accurate. It seems to be a cousin to the model 25 Moutain gun which was started one year before the 25-7. I found this gem for $750 in like new condition.

I own three 41 magnum handguns this one here in 6” the Ruger Blackhawk S.A. and the Taurus 415, which I do believe is no longer in production. Both the S&W and the Taurus have been and still are used for my CCW. And for my rifle it’s the one and only Henry Big Boy rifle with octagon barrel brass trim and 10 and one carry. My Smith I think I paid around $285.00 +/-. You guys who have not shot the 41 don’t know what you’re missing. But we are a small but dedicated group of firearms aficionados.

Great video, but I don't know about saying that 10mm has more energy than .357 magnum, as it really depends. In fact, if you make .357 as hot as it will go and do the same for 10mm, .357 has more ft-lb of energy. Example: Underwood "10MM AUTO 200GR. EXTREME TERMINAL PERFORMANCE" has 694 ft-lb at the muzzle, whereas Underwood ".357 MAG 158GR. EXTREME TERMINAL PERFORMANCE" has 790 ft-lb of energy at the muzzle. It's the same with Buffalo Bore, where comparing the same types of ammo, .357 Buffalo Bore is much more powerful than its 10mm equivalent. For standard self defense ammo, it could be the one or the other that has more energy, depending on the brand.

Of all my revolvers, from Colt to S&W to High Standard, this revolver is the most accurate I own. Was probably around the mid to late 90's that I bought this gun from a life long friend. After the first two shots at a 75ft indoor range, I turned him him and aked "How much?" . $450 dollars doesn't go as far as it used to. My stainless S&W 629 also has a 4" barrel and has been packed around Alaska with me for many years- heh- ever since I dumped my canoe while wearing my model 25-5. Zero damage, but same buddy sold me the 629 also @ $450.

I love this series of Smith and wesson semiautomatics. I bought the 5906 first and lucked into a 659 recently. A bulldog of a pistol and dead reliable. Wouldn't trade them for 50 polymers. Outside of weight reduction, polymer guns just don't appeal to me.

Great information and a very good review ! Even though I’ve hunted with fellows who used the Contenders I’ve never owned one until 2008 and I built my barrels up from that time ! One of my favorite is the 6mm TCU Ctg ! What an excellent long range accurate ctg ! But I’ve only hunted using the 30 Herrett so far and have taken 5 deer so far ! One fine black bear using the .44 magnum caliber! What a great system !

I got my RIA A2 FS HC 3 weeks ago. Great gun but has feed issues. Now I know why. I suspected the mag as the gun itself seemed to be fine. In essence that means that RIA has not done anything about the issue in 2 years as they still sell those crap mags with their gun. Shame on them!!! Thanks a lot for making the video and sharing the mag that works. 🙏

I bought one about a month ago. I tried all sorts of ammo, but it just wouldn't feed right. Very frustrating !! then the rear site fell off !! what a crapy design. The site fits loose in the dove tail "poor machining " and only a tiny set screw to hold it in place. JUNK

The price they want for it is INSANE, especially considering that many things are "off". You can GLANCE at it and tell there are many variances from the original. Ok, but to me that means it's relegated the equivalent of the Universal M1 carbines you could get back in the day in the Sears catalog for $125 in the early 80s. Let's say inflation is 5x at most -- Then these should be no more than $625! Actually LESS owing to insane increases in efficiency in manufacturing, logistics and marketing which reduce costs. These companies just want to rip people off! Like you said you can get a REAL one for that price that was used in WW2!
