As always, a very clear explanation. I am left with one question. I am getting ready to knit an older pattern called Spectra by Stephen West. In this pattern he indicates to .....k 24, w&t and of course I will knit 25 and then t&w. The next row starts with P24.... Do I knit 24 or the 25st?. The entire pattern is written this way and I don't want to start without being sure. Your help is always appreciated.
@pasticheknitwearКүн бұрын
Hi Paula. You would always add the extra stitch, so it would be p25. 🙂
@jackienemecek705216 күн бұрын
Mimi, nicely demonstrated. If my pattern doesn't have this edge how would I add it?
@pasticheknitwear8 күн бұрын
Hi Jackie! I would just add two stitches on each end (so four extra stitches total) and consider those stitches as your selvedge edge.

I have just come across your channel on KZread. How did I not see your videos before now????? Your speaking voice is so clear as are your instructions and camera work. I have liked and subscribed. Do you do knit-a-longs by any chance? I am not a new knitter but do not have a yarn store close by so most of my instruction is found online.

Hi Donna! Thank you so much for liking and subscribing. I am working on having a larger online presence than previously. Not doing it along now, but hopefully in the future. If you email me your email address I can put you on my mailing list.

It’s a crocheted cast on. Been using it for forty years.
@pasticheknitwearКүн бұрын
It's definitely similar to a crocheted cast on, but it has some seminal differences. Most notably, it has a double chain of stitches that share a middle leg and gives a beautiful, reversible cast on.

Best instructions I’ve seen for bobbles. If you were knitting in the round what would you do on the second row?
@pasticheknitwearКүн бұрын
Great question! I just gave it a go. I ended up resetting the stitch following the bobble stitch so that the back leg was leading, then knit it through the back leg. When you come around to the bobble stitch on the next round, do the same thing. It looks nice and tidy!

After you finish casting on can you go straight to ribbing stitch or do you need to knit one round as a set-up?

You can commence with whatever your pattern stipulates. No need to do one plain row.
