It can be many culture shocks to especially USA citizens to learn about Finland, my country. My dear homeland of ancient times. It is precious, with the bears, birds berries, folks who respect all that. Many of us don't wanna cut all of the trees down when we cut some from the forest, to respect the forest. I don't know if that's much of a thing in most USA places.

I'm Finnish, this was a fun & interesting video because the things you mentioned were a bit different from what most people who visit Finland say. Especially that part about how eggs are sold was interesting because I didn't know that they are sold in a different way elsewhere. That thing about them being washed over there reminded me of something: sometimes, when I buy eggs, one of them has a little feather stuck on it. Which, shall we say, reminds you of where the egg came from, if you know what I mean. But that doesn't matter because I'm not going to eat the eggshell, only what's inside of it. Which, if I start to think about what it actually is, is even more gross :D Maksalaatikko was historically a festive food only for special occasions, but nowadays it is more like the food that everyone has stuck somewhere in the back of their refrigerator in case they are too lazy to cook. Pinaattilettu is another one, if you are so lazy that you don't even bother to put them in the microwave, they aren't too bad eaten cold. That sort of foods tend to be sold everywhere.

Hyvää Itsenäisyyspäivää myös sinulle. Kun minä lähdin maailmalle töihin 1988. Tyttäreni ja poikani oppivat englannin kielen salama vauhtia juuri lukemalla Aku Ankkaa englannin kielisenä. Seikkailu kesti 25 ja puoli vuotta kunnes muutin takaisin Suomeen 2012,arvaappa mitä meni hyvä tovi että taas kieli alkoi kääntyä suomenkielelle vaikka olen syntynyt ja kasvanut täällä. Eipä tuolla maailmalla paljon kuullut suomea, arki ja työ pyörivät englannin kielellä. Sinun suomen kieli on kehittynyt niin paljon täynnä aikana mitä olet asunut Suomessa, itse ei aina huomaa omaa kehitystä paremmaksi jossakin mutta muut huomaavat sen.

Several. My work is very fluid and there can be several things that come up throughout the day so it's easier to be here as I don't like to mix work with home. That's the main reason, that home is a place where I rest and relax ... no brain melting. :)

That’s very good expresson ’melting brain’! I remember when my son was in Argentina in Buenos Aires and in Spanish course for three weeks. The languages was new for him. He new English, Swedish, French well, but for his wife’s work, he was supposed to learn Spanish as well. Ystäväni käytti aikoinaan Colloquial Finnish-kirjaa (tekijä Daniel Abondolo) opetellessaan suomea. Kirja löytyy kirjastostakin. Tarkoitettu tosin aika kielen alkajille, joten voi olla vähän liian helppo sinulle.

Myöhemmin olen saanut tietää, että nykyään sitä fysioterapian kirjallisuutta on niin paljon suomennettu ettei kielen taso ole enää este opinnoissa. Lähdin kymmenen vuotta sitten vaeltamaan yksin Camino Portuguesin reitille Portugaliin. Olin aivan "kieli solmussa" siellä vaikka takana oli peruskoulusta ja muista opinnoista monta vuotta englannin kielen opiskeluja. Toisella yksin vaelluksella (samalla reitillä) sain rohkeutta vihdoin avata suutani ja puhua sillä tasolla englantia kuin pystyin ja päätin olla välittämättä virheistä. Tässä auttoi myös tutustuminen toisiin vaeltajiin. Edelleen minun täytyy kääntäjää käyttää välillä. Olen huomannut myös, että mitä väsyneempi olen sen vaikeampaa on ilmaista asioita vieraalla kielellä. Mä teen myös listoja asioista ja käytän erivärisiä kyniä. Teen merkintöjä kalenteriini siis paperiseen en sähköiseen. Ennen kirjoitin päiväkirjaa mutta en jaksa enää. Ps. Ihan p###a vuosi ollut täälläkin...joten ensi vuosi on pakko olla parempi! 🙏

I'm Finnish, this was a fun & interesting video because the things you mentioned were a bit different from what most people who visit Finland say. Especially that part about how eggs are sold was interesting because I didn't know that they are sold in a different way elsewhere. That thing about them being washed over there reminded me of something: sometimes, when I buy eggs, one of them has a little feather stuck on it. Which, shall we say, reminds you of where the egg came from, if you know what I mean. But that doesn't matter because I'm not going to eat the eggshell, only what's inside of it. Which, if I start to think about what it actually is, is even more gross :D Maksalaatikko was historically a festive food only for special occasions, but nowadays it is more like the food that everyone has stuck somewhere in the back of their refrigerator in case they are too lazy to cook. Pinaattilettu is another one, if you are so lazy that you don't even bother to put them in the microwave, they aren't too bad eaten cold. That sort of foods tend to be sold everywhere.

Hyvää Itsenäisyyspäivää myös sinulle. Kun minä lähdin maailmalle töihin 1988. Tyttäreni ja poikani oppivat englannin kielen salama vauhtia juuri lukemalla Aku Ankkaa englannin kielisenä. Seikkailu kesti 25 ja puoli vuotta kunnes muutin takaisin Suomeen 2012,arvaappa mitä meni hyvä tovi että taas kieli alkoi kääntyä suomenkielelle vaikka olen syntynyt ja kasvanut täällä. Eipä tuolla maailmalla paljon kuullut suomea, arki ja työ pyörivät englannin kielellä. Sinun suomen kieli on kehittynyt niin paljon täynnä aikana mitä olet asunut Suomessa, itse ei aina huomaa omaa kehitystä paremmaksi jossakin mutta muut huomaavat sen.

Several. My work is very fluid and there can be several things that come up throughout the day so it's easier to be here as I don't like to mix work with home. That's the main reason, that home is a place where I rest and relax ... no brain melting. :)

He new English, Swedish, French well, but for his wife’s work, he was supposed to learn Spanish as well. Ystäväni käytti aikoinaan Colloquial Finnish-kirjaa (tekijä Daniel Abondolo) opetellessaan suomea. Kirja löytyy kirjastostakin. Tarkoitettu tosin aika kielen alkajille, joten voi olla vähän liian helppo sinulle.
Luin jonkin aikaa suomenkielisiä lastenkirjoja, joita luin pojalleni englanniksi, kun hän oli pieni.
