From the point of view of a beginner and that of someone who favours hardware over daws.....would you say this is a good place to start within the world of sequencers? I've got an sq1 but already find it a bit limiting. It's basically either a beatstep pro or the oxi 1. Was just wondering about it's work flow and efficiency with say a DRM 1 or other hardware synths Thanks

Hi! I'd choose the Oxi One over an SQ1 or Beatstep Pro any day but I've been playing with sequencers for quite a while... As a complete beginner I would definitely struggle with it! I guess it depends what you want to do - Beatstep Pro is a brilliant sequencer and perfect for most styles of music. I personally need something more flexible and Elektron-like and that's what the Oxi One offers, and much more. If I was a beginner I'd go for the Beatstep Pro first, just because it's super easy and fun to play around with.

Well if it's any comfort, there's no chance you'll brick your MD with the firmware. Worst that could happen is, it won't install at all. Theres so much fun to be had with the new machines and tuning function etc. But if I had that many power outages, I'd be afraid to turn it on! Hope you have surge protection.

Thanks for reaching out! Well, I must say I've not been asked to do 32-bit before. I am hoping to move my packs from Bandcamp to my own website in the future, and if this happens, I'll be happy to increase the bitrate as the 300mb size limit will no longer apply!

So i got interested in the floating point thing. For what i have heard. Internal sampling in Ableton is also 32bit. So i thought Lets get everything as standard and less converting as possible. So then i made the switch to standard everything to 32bit fp. And upgraded my soundcard. Most dj players accept at least 16 bit 48kHz. So converting from 32 to 16 seemed logical.

I don't use arpeggios very often in my music, what I prefer to do is modulate the arpeggio mode's Strum parameter on a Chord sequence. You end up with these lovely, musically-correct and endlessly variable sequences that conform to the chords being played. The strums, when set really slow, don't necessarily conform to regular time divisions like 8ths, 16ths etc, so you get lovely free-floating notes. Perfect for slow 'ambient' music. :)
