  Question for you: the packaging shows a small hole on the bottom for inserting small treats or kibble... but how on earth are the puppers supposed to get it out? Or, if it's just to "tease for engagement" how is a hooman supposed to get it out later so it doesn't get yucky? 🤔

  I inherited a neglected Toller from a friend, and she was easily the best dog that I've ever had. Cried every day for a month afer I had to put her down.

  Yes, the best in Canada is Sue Kish in near Hamilton Ontario. She keeps the breed pure. 3 year waiting list I understand though.

  My sister has a one year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Nora and I think I just decided, based on your videos to find an experienced, reputable breeder and pick out a little sister for Nora. I've been doing A TON of research and it has come down to two choices. A Newfoundland or Toller, you may have swayed me. Your dog is gorgeous and fun.

  I have quite a few feelers out there but it's kind of tough because I live in Chicago and getting to the suburbs and/or farmland isn't always up to me. If you have any suggestions near Northern Illinois to around 200 miles away that would be stellar dude

  Hi there, May I ask, did your first Toller pass away, and now you have another? If so, how did you find this emotionally? My Toller passed at 16 over a year ago now, and I'm struggling with whether to get another Toller, in case my sadness and memories will overshadow how I see and relate to the new one. Otherwise I'm thinking maybe I just need to get a different breed. The Toller certainly is the most beautiful dog I have ever seen. Thanks

  Oh wow... yes, losing a pet is very hard. Im so sorry for your loss. My first dog, Athena, did pass away just over three years ago. It still brings a tear to my eye when I think of her, but I try to embrace the sadness knowing it's there because of how much I loved her. Her memory will always be with me. I keep lots of keepsakes around of her, too. My new pup is Athena's great granddaughter. While I wasn't ready to take in a new puppy as early as I did, I knew I'd regret not doing it much more and for way longer. I can understand how it can be hard to get attached to a new pup, especially when you're still mourning your last one. You may feel like you're even cheating on their memory. But you're not. You're opening your heart to a new innocent creature that needs a home and affection. That's something you can give, even when you're sad. It's hard, but they're worth it.

  Its nice to see someone get a toller and then treat the dog the way the breed is supposed to be. It bothers me to see people get active dogs and then keep them indoors all day, or get huskies in hot climates.

  Don't know if its related to your dogs knee issues but my toller/chow mix blew out both his knees when he was two and had to have tplo surgerys. Hes also the same way with people, if you ignore him he'll love on you if you come to him he's a lil sketchy.

  I agree completely. It helps if the is a stay-at-home person who's attentive, though having a second dog and then taking a walk after work satisfies some Tollers. Tollers are rare enough that most people in the US wouldn't recognize one. In my state I've seen a couple come up on rescue sites listed as Golden Retrievers. I currently have a Brittany, which in most ways is quite similar. (Fortunately his tail wasn't whacked off.) As it worked out, he's a Toller in spirt... same character but without being as destructive when bored.

  I’m 50. I’ve had dogs for 49 yrs. Your kindness and empathetic thoughtfulness is inspiring! You have GREAT WISDOM in putting yourself in the “pups paws” while introducing them to a whole new world in your home. I loved that your slept next to the pup to comfort him.   I love your comments! I started with 1 male and now have 4 total Tollers. It’s amazing how different each one is. I’m in love with them all! I had a golden retriever previously. These are much more active, curious, and attentive. God bless Tollers!

  She sheds a fair amount. Not crazy but a vacuum once a week or more, depending on the season. I try to squeeze in three 30-minute walks: morning at the dog park , lunch, and pre-dinner. Weekends I make sure to hike her to a beach where she can swim and get a good two hour exercise in each day. So pretty a time and requires a lot of mental stimulation. I play hide n seek with treats at least once a day.
