I always use them and have never had them pinch the wheel or not spin freely. It should not be hard to keep a wheel from binding in manufacturing, since the center only needs to be less than the spacer. Don't really ride spitfires though. Also, mine doesn't sound dull like yours, but then again, your wheels were binding, probably why.

Are these too tall to be tech like thunders?? I’m moving up in size to 8.125 or maybe 8.25. Unfortunately there aren’t many boards at that size with a 14” wheelbase, which I am used to (I’m 5’8” just for reference on why that short wheelbase), so not sure I’ll be able to handle thunders as they push out the wheelbase, but I still want to do tech stuff, and don’t want to sacrifice weight.

The older I get the less "feel" the better. I get more tired with less absorbant shoes. I used to think it was the size of the wheels but I was wrong. It's DEFINITELY the sole of the shoe. Lately I've been skating a standard pair of Air Force Ones and I feel like I'm a teenager again. I'm not getting super tech with these but I last WAAAAY longer compared to shoes with less impact.

i had a couple pairs of Tensor trucks with the slide plates way back when. plates would shift a couple millimeters shifting hangar forward, and washers were so soft with normal use metal would bend shaping itself around the kingpin nut. which would make them impossible to tighten after the tips of the nut stripped from only being able to grab 2mm of the nut after a couple tightens. ended up perpetually loose. got used to it, but wheel bite was annoying af. just sayin, the spring out of crooks isn't springy with trucks that loose

Flips and slides feel awesome on setups like these, crooks suffer because you can't pinch as good there is no perfect setup just setups better for the things you like to skate

you should try a full on setup of 39mm wheels with a 7.5 deck and tensor mag light trucks vs a regular 8.5 with independents and like 55mm wheels

why don't you buy a shoe stretcher? I can get you a good one from China which is made of all metal and comes with attachments to stretch certain areas. What I mean is for example, I have to stretch out all of my shoes even if they are wide, especially my left foot with the attachment to stretch the area where my pinkie toe is. For me this is because I broke my toe doing a nollie down a set of stairs and never went to the hospital. Also, I buy a half a size too small and stretch them to fit perfectly, this is because when I skate stairs for example or do noseslides or tailslides, I don't want my toes crashing into the front of the shoe or my toenails getting ripped out...

As example the use the same molds and reduce the wheelbase, when really they should be subtracting from the center of the board and having a separate mold for shorter wheelbase, maintaining the nose and tail proportions, resulting in the same pop.

100% the truth and from my experience. Zero cushioning, too slippery, zero feel. Non sb dunk lows are waaaay better for skating.

The spacers are not supposed to touch the wheel core, because that's what slows it down! The spacers should be a bit smaller than the hole, so that the wheels can spin around them freely. The only thing that the spacers should be touching are the inner rings of the bearings to prevent them from spinning. Keep in mind: the bearings balls should run between it's 2 rings, not the whole Bearing on the axle! Neil Hester has a very good video including demonstration on that topic. Go watch it if you don't believe me ;-)

For a gen Z opinion loved the 2 pairs of half cabs and they haven’t aged in the pasted 32 years I skated I liked what you said the feel like pillow because I found them to be really comfortable but the sole split in the first pair and on the second pair still happened but I had flex seal I spray on the botten and they were fine
