  @@erynangel8800 I read the book, here is my long response.... Spoilers Ahead... I’ve not read many of CV books, but i liked how this one as it was an experience as the reader went through with the main character as she feel in love with someone who at first she experienced the highs of love with, got really attached to then discovered he had anger issues and toxic tendencies. As a young adult, there is some level of naivety, so I didn’t really see the red flags except when looking for them in a re-read, which I felt opened my eyes a little. The book that actually addresses his abuse as such and she doesn’t end up with him. For me this book of CV has a message that a lot of people with abusive family/partners can relate to and even people that didn’t experience it as it feels relatable, like it can happen to anyone. It isn’t about love, but abuse and needing to let go even if you do love them.

  Personally I’m excited to see this. The Color Purple was revamped into a musical on Broadway in 2005. Both Fantasia (Celie) and Danielle Brooks (Sofia) have starred in the musical versions. They are simply translating the musical into film version. You don’t have to like remakes but please don’t think the concept of this movie being a musical is new.

  God I hate remakes. this is the same story with a musical twist. We have run out of major franchises to redo so now we are starting to hit some forgotten hits. Can't wait for the musical rendition of "Dances with Wolves".

  @@cindye5285You are aware that there’s been a musical version since 2005 (that both Fantasia and Danielle Brooks starred in at one time)? This is literally the musical version in film. You may or may not like a remake (which I completely get) but The Color Purple being set to music is not new

  Celebrate our Anniversary. As we patiently waited for Roselyn, the cashier to come off the phone as she avoided eye contact with us not greeted us as we waited for at least 10 minutes. We continue to stand off to the side when another couple of a different race approached her, she immediately put down the phone greeted and assisted the couple. We continued to wait when another set of people came in and she still assisted them thoroughly with still jot acknowledging us. We were not help until Steven, the general manager ask for the next people in line. We informed Steven of now what we believe to be prejudice against us being unassisted and blatantly ignored. Steven went in to explain that Roselyn is autistic; therefore, has difficulty multitasking with assisting customers and being on the phone. I found this to be an insult to the autistic community as well as a complete LIE and lack of accountability because we witness her assist two sets of customers while on the phone. I was utterly disgusted and stunned to literally be discriminated against. Do better.
