    He references GPT-3 which makes me wonder if this video is considerably older than the published date.

    Guys already thinking about how great it would be to use VR to brainwash people; no thanks, just more reason to conclude that literally nothing good can come of any of this.

    People already work along side robots. The motor industry is a major one! But she appears to be talking about humanoid style robots, which seems to imply this is about her insecurities!

    There are already robots working in industries, with people. Car industry is a major one. Now, this woman is talking about robots that are humanoid in appearance, so, I think this is more about Her feelings than a concern about jobs .

    Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" is probably what bests describes VR today (the modern version of this story is The Matrix).

    Is there a difference between robot empathy and a human scammer faking empathy for rich senior?

  • @thedisruptedworkforce
    @thedisruptedworkforce Жыл бұрын

    Yes - robot empathy is machine learning trying to re-create human empathy. A human scammer is a bad actor doing what they can to take advantage of others, unfortunately!

    Why does the host (not Tristan) suggest, near the end of the video, that 'its not the concern with innovation, it's not the concern with technology, those things are amazing and are radically reshaping the human experience in amazing ways'. Not sure what evidence suggests that these technologies are 'reshaping human experience in amazing ways' - how? Simply because you can do things faster and cut through space and time with our communication like never bf, does not necessarily make it 'amazing'. Are you suggesting that people now feel happier, more fulfilled, have better relationships than bf this wave of computerized technology? I don't think so.

    Thanks Gordon - your inputs are valuable. In many instances our show does express concern about where the technology is going - as we just did in the Deepfake episode we published open.spotify.com/episode/1JImgpQp0RbPN8EoFGKKyz?si=b694f275867e4142. On the other hand "amazing" connotes a sense of wonder and amazement at what some of the technology can do and a respect for the innovation behind it. But if you listen to the full episode with Tristan you will hear our real concern for potential harms and that's why we have guests like Tristan on the show - to express these important views and raise awareness. A link to the full episode is in the show description.

    It seems that Microsoft, Linkedin, Meta, Google, Amazon, and many others are doing their part to address the talent shortage. They are making talent available.

  • @thedisruptedworkforce

    Thanks Je, our hope is companies will work to reimagine their talents pools towards up skill, reskill, future skill vs choose layoffs.

  • @jesmith9975
    @jesmith9975 Жыл бұрын

    @@thedisruptedworkforce Unfortunately many in the talent industry completely ignore the fact that companies execute layoffs when their business is under financial pressure. Keeping unneeded employees around for future needs ignores the cash flow problem. Companies are in business for the investors, Capitalism is not an altruistic endeavor.
