Stevie has cap issues to clean up of his own doing. So, getting youth in the line up, while waiting, is a great strategy. And, if injuries are avoided and our youthful additions get better as the season progresses, there is opportunity to make the playoffs.

Enjoy the podcast boys, but need to correct a fairly egregious error you made. The Wings were indeed in the top 10 for goals scored with 275. However, they were not top 10 in goals against, they were actually 24 in the league in goals against with 273. If you use the hockey reference site and aren't careful how you sort the teams (top down, or , bottom up) you can make that error.

LALONDE should have been number 1. You guys did a nice job of balancing but the theme is supposed to be the negative. 1. He is a rookie head coach, very rarely do they succeed in their first job. 2. We have watched him for 2 years and he is the opposite of inspiring or positive...basically devoid of personality 3. There has been zero evidence of any system on ice, past performance is the best predictor of future performance. 4. He really has trouble making in game adjustments and sticks to losing lines and lineups way too long. Who knows, maybe he will improve, but i am not holding my breath and there is probably a reason players love him; he has no control and does not push them.

Dude he’s going a good job he almost got us to playoff with rental players if we didn’t score the goals we did we were in Trouble and they did there best to keep the ppl they could but it’s now time to let a few younger player and I expect wings will make a move this year trade deadline or before - fact is they don’t play well with Larkin they need to fix that - but think of the good side of things if cat scores 10 more points he huge Raymond finally kinda broke though I expect him to possibly be a point per game - we tried to get stamko didn’t work but they are bringing up players so I think they can make playoffs and think that this is the year we need to see these players make steps - we need to fix the amount of goals let up - something Steve and Malone been preaching - not to mention we beat the crap outta allot the best teams and think we could have upset Fl to be honest maybe 25 percent chance but surely better the caps - and I do agree Malone will be in hot seat if we take huge steps back but long as he keeps moving it forward he’s not going anywhere this league is not easy we need more depth they are banking on some of the rookies to make a slash - Raymond and cat Kane are going to be huge factors - and if Larkin plays full season he’s getting 90 points or so don’t worry trust me Stevie will bring in players needes when time is right we are lucky we got what we did this year having to sign mo and Raymond

And the team did buy In just took the season to really get there and let’s be honest how we are lucky we did what we did when our goalies let up 3-5 goals per game making defense having to block shots like crazy / which is huge part of a good defense but MO what did last year saved our asses allot - if we can get that 3rd line rolling as well or 4th line and one shut down line we could have some really good results - the amount. Of goals let up by bottom six a good defense makes up for that and those players can do what they do within having to worry about goalie letting up goals last mins of periods I do agree it took a while for them to buy in I don’t think he expected us to score like we did sure he was happy about it but he kept saying we are lucky to be wining some Or these games - I do think this next year is a huge test not only coaching but players as well he needs the players that can do it and sounds like they have allot confidence in the players being brought up and fighting for spots

You guys are singing my song with this episode and you are not negative. I agree that this is a make or break season for Lalonde. We know the offense will take a big step backwards with the loss of 70+ goals walking out the door. We have no reason to think the defense will be better with basically the same defense and same top two goaltenders. It was a summer of missed opportunities for Yzerman, he lost out on improving the defense when Trouba blocked the trade to Detroit and lost adding a top rated goaltender when Ullmark chose rival Ottawa. You cannot consider 37 year old Talbot anything more than a consolation prize. Reimer has been falsely victimized by you guys. He did not play enough to be the reason they missed the playoff and in fact when he did finally get in late in the season he outplayed Lyon. .

I'm still not sold on Lalonde. I think we make the playoffs last year had he been fired after that lifeless March 12th loss to Buffalo. I think that would've been the shot in the arm the Wings needed to make the playoffs. Maybe it might not have been the best decision long term, but I still think it would've been a short-term benefit. That Buffalo game offended me. They embarrassed the Winged Wheel that night with their complete lack of effort. If they were a bad team that put in the effort, that's much more acceptable to me than being a decent team who looks like they have no interest in being on the ice. I've never been as disgusted about the team as I was that night after that game.

That is needed now so I will give some more leash. I do wish he was more animated sometimes though. Think it shows the players that he is in it with them. The part of Tortarella I like is it looks like he is letting the refs know about ridiculousness. Personally, I would feel like my coach was feeling the game just as much as I was. Now, lots of other things about him too so I am not advocating a switch. Hoping we can see good progress from Edvinsson and Berggren. Hope Johansson gets some good looks too.

The coach's role is about his own theory of profession and competence on paper. From the paper we can deduce that there are four versions of coaches' speeches about their professional role. 1. Is about a coach coaching clients (players) to their goals. 2. That it is a complex professional role under development. 3. The third version is about a coach having and developing several competencies. *Often stated about past experiences and how that knowledge is relevant today. 4. The fourth is experience-based and practical competence is important for the coach's professional role, but that the competence is disparate and that the requirements must be raised. *See item 3 in conclusion.

Hardly, Talbot is better than any of the three Goalies that the RW had, hands down. Husso is still a mystery player beause he's been constantly hurt since he signed his new contract. Lyon is fine just don't overplay the guy. Defense is better because of it's depth alone. It would be nice to have a 2nd R D-man but there's still time to get one. Trouba was obviously slated to fill that slot but that won't be happening this year, if ever. Yzerman is still looking for another option. When we see what's arriving this year from GR then we can judge just how much better this group is or isn't but not until then can we measure exactly what these players have developed into, if anything substantial. That's why teams have minor leagues, to develope them in house. Overall I thnk this is a better team and a 2C well may emerge from within or acquired via trade. We'll see.
