50 Tastes Of Gray

Welcome to 50 Tastes Of Gray. I'm Matthew Gray, a lifelong chef, radio guy and (mostly successful) entrepreneur here to tickle your taste buds with stimulating and engaging banter. I'd rather go for the funny-bone, not the jugular, just so you know.

Join me on a sometimes disarming, warm, whimsical chat-cast. I hope afterwards you'll feel entertained, inspired, invigorated, and ready to conquer the world. Or take a nap...

    I feel like the americans who see through the deception of both parties realize the party system is corrupt, both candidates suck and humanity is at a stand still. Those who only see through the deception of one party whether its ideological or an emotional appeal are in the most troubling position. Ironically the game of monopoly is actually based on luck.

  • @50tastesofgray
    @50tastesofgray19 күн бұрын

    * Thank you so much for your comment! It helps the channel. Actually, though, Monopoly is a game that involves both luck and skill. The roll of the dice introduces an element of luck as it determines the player’s movement around the board. However, skill plays a significant role in how a player manages their assets after the dice roll. People skills, clear communication and negotiation are vital to the outcome. Players need to understand what their opponents want and trade in a way that benefits all parties. In addition, good players need to make wise decisions on how to handle their money and investments. This includes knowing when to buy properties, when to let them go up for auction, and when to start building houses. So, while luck does play a part in the game, winning at Monopoly also requires strategic thinking and good people skills. It’s a careful combination of both luck and skill. Therefore, one cannot win Monopoly purely based on luck.

    It typically costs a few thousand in various fees to the right accountants to legaly skirt the tax man. Everybody CAN do it technically. For 99% of us however, it would literally be more money than what we actually end up paying in ordinary taxes. So it can be done, it would just cost slightly more than outright just paying the government their share.

  • @50tastesofgray
    @50tastesofgray19 күн бұрын

    * Thank you for your reply. While it's true that tax laws are technically the same for everyone, in practice, the ability to exploit loopholes and deductions often requires a level of financial resources that most people don't have. Wealthy individuals and corporations can afford to hire top accountants and tax lawyers who specialize in minimizing tax liabilities through complex financial strategies. For the average person, the cost of such services would indeed outweigh any potential tax savings. Additionally, the scale of income and types of investments that facilitate significant tax avoidance are usually out of reach for most taxpayers. The core issue isn't just about the availability of tax strategies but the inequality in access to the means to utilize them effectively. This is why the discussion around tax reform often includes calls for simplifying the tax code and closing loopholes that disproportionately benefit the wealthy.

    You're wrong. They pay a shitload of taxes. In fact 10% of the population. The top 10% of the population pays about 90% of the taxes

  • @50tastesofgray
    @50tastesofgray19 күн бұрын

    * @@guymiller6891 * It's true that the top 10% of earners pay a significant portion of total taxes, and that's primarily because they earn a substantial share of the total income. According to data from the IRS and other sources, the top 10% of income earners do pay around 70% of federal income taxes. However, this statistic reflects the broader economic reality that income and wealth are highly concentrated at the top. The top 10% also hold a significant majority of the nation's wealth and receive a large proportion of the income. Moreover, it's important to consider the types of taxes being referenced. Federal income taxes are progressive, meaning higher earners pay a larger percentage of their income. But when we look at other types of taxes, such as payroll taxes, sales taxes, and property taxes, the burden can be more regressive, impacting lower and middle-income households more heavily. The broader conversation about tax policy often revolves around ensuring that the tax system is fair and that everyone contributes a fair share relative to their ability to pay. So while the top 10% do pay a large portion of income taxes, this is proportional to their significant share of total income and wealth.

    @@50tastesofgray I absolutely agree. I don't think they SOULD be able to do it. Just noting their ability to do so, and why. But who decides those laws? People who have power to make those laws. So you have a vacuume, one group controls laws and likes money....the other controls money and likes those laws....it's symbiotic. Not good. Far from good. But it makes sense. It's like realizing serial killers do it for pleasure. You don't agree with it, but you are using basic logic to understand why it would happen at all.
