We're Jodie and Joe and after years of searching for a new home, we realised that London can't offer us the lifestyle we dream of.
We've quit our jobs and sold our home, and are no longer tied to London, or even the UK.
So we bought our 2018 Peugeot Boxer and began our renovation to turn it into our perfect little home on wheels.
As we travel and explore each new place, we will be creating a list of 'must haves' to help us find the perfect place to call home.
Join us on our adventure as we build our campervan and navigate the highs and lows of vanlife in Europe and more!

Well it's july and quite nearly August so are we getting anymore or are u done loved your videos
Haha yes there will be more coming thanks sticking with us!
It was going well, then at 2:31 instant like 😂
My favourite childhood game!
Great videos! I would like to know if you would like to share how you record, edit and upload your videos?
Sure we film on a Sony FX3 and edit with Davinci Resolve. Hopefully one day we'll make a BTS video
@@JodieandJoe Thanks!
You don't need a roller. Just wipe it with a cloth
Good to know thanks
It's probably rude of me to ask, but what happened to the gorgeous gal's arms and knee? Burns or skin cancer or? Either way, damn she's a hottie! 😍😂
She is a gorgeous girl but sadly lost a fight with a lion
Brilliant videos, so happy to have found this channel! 😀
Welcome aboard! Thanks so much for watching 😁😍
I was wondering what camera you guys are using for the videos, it looks so good! 📷 🎥
We use a Sony FX3 its expensive but amazing
The result looks amazing 👏 Definitely worth the investment! 😀
I was always wondering whether or not the Ducato factory alternator can handle TWO 360W DC/DC chargers. Is the alternator holding up without any issues? THX & keep up the good work - love your videos!
I was worried too and thought about upgrading but it handles 60A of DC to DC charging no problem
That was good presure in the tap/shower
Yep water pressure has been great for us
Hi guys doing the same build as yours almost. How did you fix the solar panels to the unistrut?
We just bolted them on, through the holes we drilled in the solar panel frame
Jodie and Joe, where did you go? how's it going with you guys?
We're still alive! Our upload schedule just sucks😅
10:58 Image my surprise when I parked my van one day and the van next to me had parked on top of a piece of wood which was purposefully made to look like a human lower leg, including a tennis shoe and sock... very weird but also very funny and in an urban setting totally stealth...
Those pictures out of the back of the van is not about the view but more about the scantily clad miss on her stomach in the foreground...or at least so I was told... I would not know anything about that because my miss is not ...well you catch my drift...
Wifi can be enhanced relatively easy using a directional wifi antenna connected to a usb wifi card. It is possible to get reasonable wifi connections at restaurants/gas stations and hotels where normally no would be visible even... A directional antenna can be made with easy to find parts (like a toilet brush holder of all things) an a matter of an hour or so...look up cantenna... you will love it...
A central throne is very common... In fact my van can be considered a bed box with an en suite on wheels... with the emphasis on the en suite part...
Cooking in a van should not be any more difficult compared to cooking in a house. Obviously you have the amount of food available in cold or regular storage but you can plan a somewhat healthy diet for sure. If you like to try some of my time tested ways of cooking, look into: the omnia stove oven (or a more affordable Italian (Versili) or spanish (ibili) version), a diy heat retention cooker (or hay box) called the Wonderoven (which can be sewn together - by hand if in a pinch - using an old cotton bed sheet or duvet cover, an extremely handy way to cook while driving even and without using any energy not to mention safe and no need to attend as the cooking is going on. Very nice for those dishes which need a long time stewing, you know the Irish Stew, Boeuf Bourguignon and those hearty winter soups like pasta fagioli), a pressure cooker (obviously a great way to cook fast and very energy efficient), steaming food (also very easy and über healthy, though moisture buildup in the van is a consideration), if you want to go a little bit extra out of the box you could experiment with a solar oven (cardboard, some aluminium tape and two glass washing machine doors (huh? yes those glass things are very useful) does the trick (the interweb has the free plans, if not shoot me aline, I can send you one over) There is no excuse to eat poorly in the van... Ask Ainsley, Ramsey, Bourdain or if you must Oliver...
Hot water in a van is relatively easy. An Italian company called Quick makes stainless steel boilers from 15L upto 60L I believe which are heated using heat from the engine cooling system and an electric heating element (which is rather large - 800W - but can be toned down using a power dimmer) I have this voltage sensitive relay installed which switches the heater element on if the battery is nearly fully charged so any excess solar power is diverted into the boiler. Like you I have this sprayer setup in the galley but I also have this anti leak tray which has been converted into a shower pan which I place on top of a floor drain so I can use the shower pan as needed. The pan has a shower curtain and a standard curtain rail (with 4 ready made bend pieces in it to form a rounded square) which I hang from the ceiling. My van is tall but not tall enough to use an overhead shower head so I have this stool with water proof upholstery so I can sit down and do a Furo style shower (using a bucket warm water and a small plastic cup) and I also am able to use the sprayer from the galley if need be.... I do not have a build in waste water tank but I do have a 25L tank on a trolley which I place underneath the van to catch any waste water from both the galley sink and the floor drain which the waste water from the shower pan flows into...
off topic joe mate but at 5:41 where are the jean style shorts from?
Primark!
jodies determination and vibes in this video is iconic. shes a gem, great vid
What TV mount is that?
It's from Amazon if you search TV Ceiling Mount Bracket Fold Up Down Away
I am a regular watcher of your always excellent videos and only just picked up you read my review of Stapleford ! lol. Yup, those pesky concrete lumps are not very kind to the van :). And she is actually a he :) :) :)
Oh! Sorry! ❤️ Hi there 😁 yes they are crazy!
Is it just me BUT Joe's cutting upwards towards his femoral artery seems seriously dangerous. Bleed out time from severing that is just a few minutes. And even if Jodie is a qualified nurse/doctor saving someone cut like is tough wihout the gear to hand. The first rule of knife safety is always to cut away from your body or from another person. Always. And this isn't an urban myth. Can't believe I would be the first to say this on this thread but am so horrified. I watch your videos from the warmth between you two. As has been said by many, watching amateurs van build as teaching tools is only going to lead to problems.
This guy is totally right do not copy what we do! This is in no way a teaching channel - we have no idea what we are doing! 😂
Yeah I watched a Greg Virgo video.where he states that Solar power is only about 15% efficient and leisure batteries are only 50% efficient.👍
The efficiency of panels can go up to the mid 20s but it's factored into the rating (300w panel still puts out 300w of power) The leisure battery efficiency of 50% is referring to the depth of discharge in AGM lead acid batteries where you shouldn't discharge past to 50% (12v). Our lithium iron phosphate are different and can safely get closer to 90% capacity
Hi Jodie and Joe,loving your videos and jolly well done on all the work you’ve done on the van conversion.👍
Thanks so much John! 😁
You two by far win the most adorable van life couple ever!🤣🤣🤣
You should not be using Twin & Earth for anything at all in a vehicle, or any single core cable where there is movement or vibration.
We address this in a later video
You made a battery without a BMS and using grade B Docan cells, are you asking to be cooked alive? STOP what you are doing right now and go watch will prowse or some other DIY battery with BMS tutorial.
You should also add Andy's off-grid garage to your list of recommendations!
Absolutely amazed the van has only cost you £125 in repairs. The Boxer, Relay, Ducato are well known in the van trade to be made of cheese mechanically and regularly throw up eyewatering bills. You've been extremely lucky thus far.
Thankfully our Boxer has been extremely reliable so far. There was just one over tightened and loctited bolt that snapped and needed to be retapped when changing the belt.
What in gods name did they use the van for previously!! HA
From the cement and rubble, I'd say builders! Or grave diggers. Could be gravediggers. 🤷🏼♀️
How many sheets did you use? I have the l4 relay
We didn't count the sheets but used 1 full box and about 1/4 of the second box. Hope that helps
50 sheets in a box?
Lol worrying if a vegan is offended if you are cooking sausages is really one step to far of being considerate. But still friendly. 😊
We try to be considerate when we can 🤣🥰
@@JodieandJoe yeah I get that it was cute.👍
I think we worry about things most people don't even think about 🤷🏼♀️🤣
Your chicken is so undercooked it's heading for the hills!!! /Ramsey
Haha
Nice project.
Thanks!
Another lovely entertaining vlog
Yay, thank you! 🙂😁
Just love you two.
Hi wheres that carpark too? Cheers
Denford reservoir near Cambridge
if you live in denmark you will pay over 1500 £ a year just in car tax so it's not cheap
Oh wow!!
Impressive system, 👍
Thanks! 👍
You need to learn to put that truck in second gear even though it's an automatic show lug right through that once you spin your tires you're done remember second gear when you're on slippery surface and it'll lug its way through and not skip the slip the wheels
Tony the farmer told us that too! We will definitely try it next time we inevitably get stuck. Thanks 😊👍🏼
Good to see the costs, we definitely need more vlogs off you both love to watch them
Thanks so much!! ☺️
Hi guys great video ,where was the place you stayed for nearly two weeks looks like the kind of place we would like to stay for a couple of days ....
If you go on park for night it's just outside Cambridge - denford reservoir I think it's called
@@JodieandJoe Found it straight away Thank you ever so much for your quick reply. Love your KZread channel keep up with the great work.. 🥰
Thanks! Nice to see someone else from Yorkshire way 😊
You can do it a lot cheaper you can go swimming pool or a gym to get your shower dump you Grey over a drain anywhere and empty your toilet in a public toilet
Great plan! Though loads of places say no toilet emptying in public toilets now
Great seeing you both again look forward to your next video safe travelling
Thanks so much! 😊
Hi guys! Jodie's tax comment was completely out of place in my opinion, Unfortunately you ruined what was already build by just a one comment... Do you know legitimacy of an income tax?
I have just come across your van life videos and have spent hours watching some of them and I have to say they are brilliant, you work together so well,a big thank you from Thailand
Awesome, thank you so much! It's great to have you with us all the way from Thailand! X
Another great episode and nice to catch up.
Thanks for the visit smudge 😁
you guys should do a little bit of catch and cook, and drone footage of location uv stayed
Definitely can't fish! But we will aim for more drones! Lots of restrictions on flying them these days
Great video, take care both
Thanks!!
Love the way you bounce off each other. You make some great videos. Hi from NZ
Hey, thanks for your support xx
have you thought about joining the caravan and camping club (ccc),prices are from £10 per night and the standards are very high 👍
I have thought about it but it seemed expensive! I'll have another look and see if it's worth it for us xx thanks!
I know people are leaving the other organisation because it’s to expensive and no offers ?
Your uploads are too far between, would like to see more ❤
I know! We are rather dull people and it takes us forevvvvver 😂😍
@JodieandJoe would never describe you as dull, far from it. Just a fan wanting more 🤪 I do understand KZread is hard work 😅
