I think the comment Lucan makes about the claw being smaller than he remembers just has to do with him being money- hungry and he’s assuming a bit of said “solid gold ornament” was shaved off for (presumably) your own pockets

Hello Dave. Not sure you read youtube comments or anything, and you rarely post channel updates anymore. But is is it safe to say the Jzirr let’s play is over? Super long term fan of your elder scrolls content. Keep smashing it and of course, if you aren’t feeling it, i totally understand stopping. :)

I can't speak for Dave but in my experience a series isnt over until it's declared so explicitly. If you watch his Twitch Streams/VODs theres usually a good hour or so of him talking with the chat at the start and thats the most reliable source of how things are going with Dave which informs your understanding of channel output.

Welcome back Dave, and hope you stay well ;) My interpretation of he golden claw comment has always been that it's a reference to "clipping" coinage - he automatically asssumes you've been trimming bits of gold off "his" claw before giving it back to him. i generally repay the insult by stealing it right back off him, though it only ever gets in the way thereafter ;P

In regards to Fathis with long blades. There's a terrific movie out there called Quigley Down Under in which a frontier sniper goes to Australia. At one point am antagonist taunts him about not carrying a pistol, to which he says he never had much use for them. Later he's forced into a pistol duel with that antagonist and wins demonstrating great skill. As the antagonist lays dying the sniper says "Said I never had much use for them, not that I didnt know how to use them"

I think the strength of Morrowind’s magic system was that you could cheese it really hard and it felt like a wink and a nod to the developers when you did so. It could also punish you right back and that made it supremely satisfying. I realized with Skyrim the devs felt more like the watchful DM making sure you don’t break the game when, for example I realized you couldn’t create a potion that boosts alchemy or enchant an item that boosts enchantment. But Skyrim’s combat features with respect to magic greatly improved and it really did make it feel more dynamic. I am also very optimistic with how ES6 will perform.

53:08 I use TrueHUD preset based on Nordic UI, it has linear left aligned stat bars, and a linear enemy health bar which I moved to the bottom of the screen and upscaled with less intrusive hud. Athough it also makes the shout meter into a celtic knot circle which looks very nice but is much harder guage remaining cooldown than the linear bar in my opinion.

Far as I know the lunar weapons have nothing to do with Azura. They are disliked by vampires,so unless she is anti-vampire seems unlikely. The only deity also connected to the moons is apprently Lorkhan.Lore hints Jenassa was Morag Tong, definitely your kind of girl.Combat enchantments don't work on NPCs.Resistance ones do,possibly carryweight works.

40:35 I've just... never really thought about it. Maybe the talons were supposed to embed or something? 46:51 I think for Skyrim it might be more hair-splitting. Like some passive enchantments work fine and others don't. I know Fortify Health works, and I think the Resists work. 48:35 It sure is a skill name, isn't it? 49:00 I'm sorry, after the previous bit about skill names "He wasn't a slouch with long blades" is just funny. 53:08 100% agree. Skyrim started em, and FO4 kept it, and I just don't like them. 56:06 I think most of my characters join the Dawnguard because they get tired of the attacks, and just go "Well, if you're all incompetent, maybe you can point me in the direction of the attackers at least." 1:00:36 As I've said many times, my ideal TES game lies between Oblivion and Skyrim. The magic systems are part of that.

Sometimes if you've had something for a long time, and then you lose it, and find it again, your mind takes stock of it, anew, and sometimes, especially if he found it when he was younger, the properties of things can suddenly seem different. I figured that's what they were referring to. I feel like if he thought you were shaving gold off of it, he'd be FAR more upset at you, whereas the comment as it's presented is just an idle, "Huh, funny that..." with no hints of suspicion, so that explanation doesn't make much sense, to me.

I think Lucan's comment about the golden claw's size is meant to imply he'd sort of conflated its importance in his head. It was a big deal to him that his precious ornament was stolen, and then he got all worked up about it, but then when he finally sees it again it's not quite as he'd remembered it. That's more or less how I've always interpreted it, anyway.

Or maybe it was similar to gold coins in the past. Hence why there’s a law that states you aren’t allowed to modify coins. Due to people clipping off the edges until they had enough gold. That’s what I always assumed what he meant

Could also be that the player sees Alduin not long before the golden claw, and the ornament is clearly nowhere close to what Alduin's feet look like. So that line from Lucan helps to clear up the difference in the players' minds. You may think this is really really dumb and of course you would be right, but this is Skyrim we're talking about. Treating players like braindead loaves of bread is the core of the world.

40:05 I think what that line of dialogue about it seeming smaller might be him thinking someone shaved some of the gold off of it or melted it down, took some of the gold out and recast it in a smaller size to cover it up. The former was something that often happened to coins even after the Americas seceded from Great Britain.
