I travelled last year from Australia, and among many UK activities patronised this line. Now I have to come back again to do the new section, but haven't time this year even though shortly to be in UK/Europe. A great achievement to open the extension. Let's hope GCR at Loughborough is next.

Took the train to Corwen last weekend. Made the journey in the DMU, which meant a much better view of the scenery, which is absolutely superb. I had forgotten just how pretty this part of Wales is. I do wish that the line could be extended eastwards a little way to create a parkway station, because car parking in Llangollen is difficult at busy times.
@thewelshtraingeek4895 Жыл бұрын
I think that is partly the point of Corwen, it has an excellent car park
@andrewhotston983 Жыл бұрын
That's good, but I suspect most visitors would have to drive through Llangollen on the A5 to get to Corwen in order to go back to Llangollen.

Considering this is an all new station, apart from the canopy structure and signal box which were reclaimed, it does catch the time frame very well. Probably not happening in my life or at all, but think of linking up to Bala Lake where this railway once went..., would more than double the existing distance.
@Tom-Lahaye Жыл бұрын
@@johnatkin1096 The commercial properties built on the trackbed just before the A5 is crossed is what I noticed as a problem but what you point out would make the extension even a lot more expensive.
