    For years I shot my macro with the MPE-65mm on my Canon gear. The MPE is an awesome lens with up to 5x but lacks auto focus and focus to infinity. Switching to the Om-1 and the 90mm was the best move I've made for my maco, it's a phenomenal combo. I've been surprised by how little I notice any diffusion even up to F13.

    Do you manually stack all of those images? Or do you use photoshops auto aligning and stacking stuff?

    @@PaulsWestHave you ever seen the Sony 90 macro? same focal length, Very similar switch layout, autofocus or manual , similarly placed and operating manual/autofocus sliding clutch (I believed this was a “unique” feature of the Sony lens) they just lost the 2.8 in the translation. Just my opinion of course, after all, OM systems obviously have the resources to design such a lens from the ground up? Just like the did with the OM System 150-600 which is clearly a re-engineered Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports optic

    @@ppac5903This is my last comment on this. Yes I have seen both lenses. Do yourself a favour and google the optical lens designs for the two. Totally different. Sony 1:1 and 2.8. OM 2:1 & 3.5. The clutch system is on most Olympus/ OM lenses for the past 10 years, not Sony specific. Have a nice evening.

    Great vid and results, just picked up the V350 myself and the Cygnus came earlier today - what zoom settings do you recommend to run on the flash, do you go as wide as possible to fill the entire diffuser or stick to lens length? I'm on an RF 100mm macro so unsure what to do!

    Cracking images again. I can't hold my OM1.2 + 90mm f3.5, FL700WR and KR90 diffuser still enough to use focus stacking out in the field, so I mainly use single frame. I find my monopod and tripods too much of a faff to take out with me. I mainly focus stack in my garden studio with my tripods.

    Your stacks look really sharp. You must be standing really really still and have no wind haha. What stacking software are you using ? With Helicon I find that I get a little bit of « persistance » from some images which I guess are because of much slightly too much movement. Always great content anyway, keep this up 👌🏻

    Hi Jamie, thanks for the great content. I have a few questions! Does the V860 flash power equate directly to the V350? For example does 1/16 on the V860 come out the same as on the V350? I ask cos I'm using the V350 and struggling for light sometimes on the 60mm at 1:1 ISO 200 f7 where you seem to have plenty here. Does the V860 ever drop frames at 1/16th and above like the V350? How does the sharpness of the 90mm compare to the 60mm? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

  • @JamieSpensley
    @JamieSpensley12 күн бұрын

    I'll have videos talking about this soon. But I'd say the flash power is basically the same and the 90mm feels on par with the 60mm, if not just a little sharper

    Just recently found your channel and have been enjoying, and learning from videos. I currently shoot macro using the Lumix G9 with the Oly 60mm macro lens and a Godox V350o flash. I'm thinking of picking up a used EM-1 mk2 or mk3 for the bracketing with flash capability that the G9 does not have. Since you were using the OM1 in this video, did you notice if it had any additional macro features/capabilities that the EM-1 mk2 does not?

  • @JamieSpensley
    @JamieSpensley18 күн бұрын

    I haven't deep dived into the om1 mk2 features properly. But the main advantage is you can use 1/100 shutter with bracketing whereas my em1 mk2 is 1/50 shutter. It is nice but don't think it's worth the extra thousand. I would get a used em1 mk2 like I did. You can get one for about £450 in the UK with MPB
