This channel is dedicated to present Lemko language and culture.
Lemko is spoken by the Lemko people who originate from the Beskid Niski and Bieszczady Mountains (part of the Carpathian Mountain Range) in the southeastern part of Poland in a region referred to as Lemkovyna. Throughout the centuries, Lemkos have lived in Lemkovyna, however in roughly the last century and a half, their numbers have decreased due to reasons including emigration and forced resettlement, among others. Today, there are Lemko communities primarily in the US, Canada, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine. Even though the majority is part of the diaspora, some have returned to live in their ancestral homeland. This channel serves as as a way for English speakers to learn Lemko.

😮В Україні ВСІ лемки вважають себе українцями. Є ще бойки, гуцули... А навіщо вам оті демони ісуси?
We might go to Hartsdale. 😊 will you be there?
That's the plan!
Živili Lemci!! Živili Hrvati 👍
And г is г like Ukrainian not х
Ы U like in sUn, Under..and it’s weird that ы is U when really in old Slavic U was ъ and Bulgarian still retains this sound and letter ъ
❤Thanks! I'm always looking for music in our tradition language
Perfective for "to carry" is "prynesty", a ne nosyty.
Unfortunately I didn't see lemko or rusyn flags, looks like it is fully overtaken by Ukrainian🫤, have nothing against Ukrainian people being Ukrainian citizen myself. But we different!!!
The reason why you won't see Lemko/Rusyn flags here is likely due to the organization that runs the vatra in Zdynia. However, you'll still come across Lemkos/Rusyns at the festival (along with Slovaks, Poles and Ukrainians). If you go the vatra in Michałów (near Legnica), it's run by a different organization and you'll see the Lemko/Rusyn flags there
@@theamericanlemko6537 if organization ignores us as different ethnicity, then we should ignore it and take part in their manipulation
I go through this every time trying to explain to someone where my mom's Lemko side of the family comes from 😂 its exhausting but it is what it is.
Za mnje rusnaka zoz ruskoho kerestura najbljizši jasik to slovacki ja bi barz ljubel naj kerestur ma vecej turistoh htorih zanjima o našej istoriji i kulturi
Man dies and goes to heaven. Saint Peter asks 'Where were you born?' The man thinks for a moment and says 'Austria-Hungary,' 'Where did you go to school?' 'Poland.' 'Where were you married?' 'The Ukrainian S.S.R.' Surprised, Saint Peter asks 'Where was your first child born?' 'In the German Reich.' 'And where did you die?' 'In the Soviet Union.' Astonished, Saint Peter shouts 'My, you moved around a lot!' 'What are you talking about? I never left our town!'
Classic!

Very cool - thanks for sharing!
This was so helpful for me and cleared up some things that have puzzled me for years. My (Lemko) father was second generation. He was baptized in the Greek Catholic Church and also received First Communion there. His parents eventually converted to Russian Orthodox in the 1930s. When my Dad married my Roman Catholic mother in 1953 he had to "convert" because he had been Greek Catholic. I makes much more sense now. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing! Glad you found the video helpful!

You are hilarious. I posted this on an Olyphant PA page. The only place in the country with a Lemko Street. My hometown, in Lackawanna county, Scranton PA
No way, that's awesome!
I am a Croatian speaker of the ancient Croatian dialect (language) Čakavski from the Adriatic islands. You video is Amazing with beautiful traditions!!! The language has so many similarities to Čakavski! Maybe the ancient “White Croatian” tribe connection 😀😎💪🏽
