plewse do a detail review of climate controlnwhat does EC button use for ?
Where can I get a w124 in such mint condition?
I wish I had the answer to that question, I’d buy them all! I found this gem on AutoTrader.
S means standard on the auto box not sport... E as you said for economy....
Nice review. Are you able to get all the parts you need for the unit?
Yes, either from Mercedes or a breaker’s yard
The dot on the fan switch is ventilation without fan on. The warning light between the parking brake/brake fluid light and the oil level light is brake pad wear indicator.
I owned a 1986 300E: an awesome car that lasted 28 years in the family. It handled well but the ride was sublime-best of any vehicle I’ve ever been in. Thanks for sharing your experience. Try and keep her as original as possible :-)
Absolutely mint
Hey I bought a e300 1995 here in the States from original owner an engineer and private pilot who babies his car, loads of “check lists” or pre inspections before he’d go on any sort of trip and detailed notes, passengers luggage, flat tire repairs, wiper blades as well as oil changes brakes anything that happened to car was notes or receipt kept. It had 302k miles and rides like a dream..I’ve but about 4 k miles on it ..simply brilliant and get amazing fuel economy high thirties on highways and high twenties around town..enjoy that majestic beast..Brilliant silver is classic
Bought for a song as some people afraid of mileage..not me and came w new Michelins..I knew it prob good when I noticed MB brand wiper blade
A lot of owners neglected their cars, majority of examples for sale are in bad condition but sounds like you’ve found a gem of a motor and from someone who cherished their car which is rare to come by these days. Well, congrats on the purchase and I hope you look after it and enjoy many miles
You can help me with the 4 matics, we can tell the difference ET ???
Good deseason and Nice conditios. You buy the best car of the world. I drive with him 25 Years and never left me on the road. I. Love it. Now I looking for 300 coup and W. With manual gearbox. THE CARS OFF MY LIFE. ❤
Great review Brother. Really well done.
Thank you 🫡
Thanks for the useful videos. I need to know how to change the radiator
SRS stands for safety restraint system so it would be an airbag light essentially
Lovely car man in such a great condition, imagine how cool it must have been having owned one of these new back in the day when they rolled off the floors
Amazing legendary car! Please take great care of this baby! If you ever need help or have questions, hit me up!
I will do and thank you 👊🏽
Excellent introduction 🎉
Thank you!
Love it. Well done sir
Good review. Nice to see it in uk Road conditions. The 2.0 seems pretty decent. I had a 1990 190 2.0, I'm thinking of getting an early 90s E class.
indicator stalk on 124 has lane change feature whereby you can press it up or down to operate it without fully engaging it , this is stated in the operators manual, if you have smoke coming out of yours you have a problem that you might want to look at.
Shop looked very unorganized and dirty. Smoking on the job with oil everywhere??! 😏😏
live in australia now, was hoping you were going to head up towards the Three Tuns at the end of the Windsor relief road towards The Copthorne Hotel (if it is still called that). Used to live off Cippenham Lane. Nice car, just bought a '93 E280 over here. From the original owner since '93. Been looking countrywide for a while then found one 5 mins away from me. Owned by the same guy for 30 years The W124 has a nice following over here.
Its still called The Copthorne Hotel, I know Chippenham Lane very well as I purchase parts from the Mercedes garage close by. Thanks and congrats on your purchase, rare to find one from an original owner so you’ve done well there.
Workshop address please?
Reallt nice car with a beautiful interior. This car will last you easily another 20 years of daily use.
Congrats bro ❤😎
Thanks 🫡
Awesome car u got there. I got the same model. My daily driving for the past 23 years and still love it. Last bolt and nut.
That gauge on the right is oil pressure. RTFM!
Great review of the car bro! Love it, absolute beauty 😍
Thanks 😎
Please don't modify it, these cars are all about comfort, not speed. I recently picked up a W124 300E with the old-style radiator grille and I absolutely love it. "S" on the transmission is "standard", not sport!
Congrats on your 300E and thank you for clarifying what the “S” is for
Timeless 👌🏼
I'm a proud owner of an s-class w221 S550 4matic for now 11 years. This car was my daily driver for 8 years, now its my weekend ride. I now have 270 000km on it and still enjoy long higway trips with it. The *key* of ownership with an older s-class is to do all of your own maintenance and repairs. You must really enjoy doing it too, because otherwise you will hate your car if you had to spend every other weekend underneath fixing it. Luckly the M273/M272 motors are very easy to work on and everything is easily accessible on this car. Only time you will need an expert is for transmission rebuilds, I'm on my second tranny rebuild. If you plan on keeping your benz my recomendation is to replace Pierburg intake manifold as soon as possible because when its internal flaps disintegrate you end up with a seized engine and that is the worst possible outcome for your car man. Also, skip on cheap ethanol mixed fuel and always go with top octane ;) Good Luck!
ey, is the ambient lighting standard?
Yes
sure all he needed was front forward arms (thrust arm )
That Jazz tho
Are the LWB cars have the black wood trim
Just watched your varsity video I’m playing in it tomorrow!!🤣
Did you win? 😂
Hi mate What is the front tires size?
245/40/20
@@BigAHx thanks mate
I need to exchange the front door. Thanks to you, it helps me a lot.
I really don't think you should buy anymore cars dude. You should have at least basic knowledge of mechanics before you attempt any project never mind a project on a car of this magnitude. Usually when car projects taken on the individual has some knowledge they don't use their budget on paying others to do all the work. If you willing to learn about cars maybe buy an old Micra and learn how a car works, do a novice car repair course, pay RAC to check the car before you part with your money.
New car reveal coming soon… 😎
Nice vid, keep 'em coming 👍
Goodluck driving it in winter
I feel like i had the same problem when i bought my W221 last 2 weeks ago, controlling those buttons was a disaster for me ... i couldnt find where to lower the rare window shade for days... until one day i sat at passengers side and saw the button, i couldnt even believe it, why shoudnt the driver have one of it too. Also my Heater FAN was bad. Suspension refuses to lift car too. Plus to make things worse, i got engine light with a big valve issue....... My car is 2007 though, so yea.. but i heard electronics is one of the biggest problems of these old luxury cars anyway
When they did the control arms did they release pressure out of the air springs or just take the arms off ?
Just took the control arms off
Had to FF through 6 minutes of Audi BS to get to the car. Now, I just don't care to watch the rest.
good job
bet money the left rear slow puncture is a cracked alloy. This car is notorious for rear cracked alloys. 700 quid a wheel for replacement.
I’ve had enough cracked alloy issues with my S class. Thankfully with this car it was only a small puncture in the tyre 😂
I came here for the Mercedes and the first 5 minutes, a good 1/3 of the video you’re talking about your Audi that I don’t really care. Fix your title or put in timestamps, this is how you lose viewers.
The under voltage was likely due to a parasitic battery drain or a bad battery/auxiliary battery. It causes everything to malfunction. Or your alternator was bad.
I saw someone mention below about how to fill the transmission correctly. I don't know if our mechanic did it correctly as it wasn't shown in the video. You don't need Mercedes Star to do it, but you must be able to read the ATF temperature. It has to be at 45 degrees centigrade with the drain / fill plug out and the oil dripping out slowly. If no fluid is coming out, then add some till it does. I have worked on many of these 722.9 gearboxes and they must be filled using the above method. Im a qualified mechanic and know the W221's inside and out, so if i can help you in any way...just ask. Here's a great video by Scott Elliott in Australia showing how to service the 722.9. The temperature part is towards the end of this video. Take no notice that it's on his ML. Any merc with the 722.9 has the service in the same way. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pYRkqMiklrSpfMo.html&ab_channel=ScottElliott
How to ask? No contact info.
Like you say not really worth pouring money in on an S350 but majority of those codes are caused by a low battery voltage. Amp can be repaired (cost me £220 from BBA reman). Instead of getting all your bits from the main dealer you can get parts made by the OEM or any good aftermarket brand. Have fun with the Z4 though!
Pickup a w222, and stick to MB dealership not those techie basement morons. Your w221 had everything that can be fixed at the dealership and run another 15 years. You went to all crazy workshops. Either go to Mercedes-Benz authorised dealership or stick to workshops that specialize only in Daimler automobiles. BenzNinja.com has the best Mercedes-Benz technician in the world. He can do anything to a mb car. Pay for his electronic exploits and staged tunes. No one can tune the transmission better than him. I get more gasoline mileage on sports mode than comfort mode. You've been in the wrong service circle for Benz. Never ever hand a Mercedes to an amateur, only a trained specialist with a minimum experience of 7 years. All those young kids with an off brand tablet scanner will ruin your car. A Mercedes is only scanned and fixed/tuned on a Star Computer. This time stick to the diesel engines, they are bullet proof, God willing. BMW is junk. Your Z4 will have cracked plastics from the engine bay until the dashboard very soon, In Sha Allah. If you want a true gem stick to a Honda NSX, or a Mercedes-Benz S Class (Diesel), Alhamdulillah solid cars.
