I saw someone mention below about how to fill the transmission correctly. I don't know if our mechanic did it correctly as it wasn't shown in the video. You don't need Mercedes Star to do it, but you must be able to read the ATF temperature. It has to be at 45 degrees centigrade with the drain / fill plug out and the oil dripping out slowly. If no fluid is coming out, then add some till it does. I have worked on many of these 722.9 gearboxes and they must be filled using the above method. Im a qualified mechanic and know the W221's inside and out, so if i can help you in any way...just ask. Here's a great video by Scott Elliott in Australia showing how to service the 722.9. The temperature part is towards the end of this video. Take no notice that it's on his ML. Thanks for your video, how did you know the particular parts like control arm or tie rod on the left hand side which is worn and need to be replaced?

Hi Vinnie, thank you for watching. I knew the parts required changing as I had the full car inspected from underneath. Whilst the car was being inspected I was there too therefore the mechanic walked me through everything showing what needs changing and why by pointing out the defects.

What did you get replaced on the suspension?

The gearbox oil level must be adjusted with star machine at specific temperature.

you never mentioned how much the parts were and how much the garage charged you for doing the work?

When they did the control arms did they release pressure out of the air springs or just take the arms off ?

@@BigAHx chassis w222 is even worst than w221,this are some parts which need to be change (chain,chain guides,cams inlet and exhaust 4 pcs,ecu of engine failure due to excessive heat it is common problem because of its position,nox sensors,gearbox valve body and other ecu made of plastic situated in gearbox,ecu of body control and many more other small things like fuel pump and so on so that was my last merc.
