    I would suggest now for part 2 of this interview seeing as the Rory Gallagher Story has been shown on RTE & BBC in recent weeks! A very informative interview with Donal Gallagher - thanks.

    But I did hear there was bodily fluids visible to the naked eye, near or behind the sofa. The dogs detected it. There is so much misinformation and it's all getting convoluted with each report I have listened to.

    There seems to be a few hersay information even in this podcast. There was evidence of bodily fluids in the apartment, and the female said thatvit was not substantial. I don't like interviews when tgey are not quoting from evidence from police or dog handlers, and are going by what they think they know or heard. This is how misinformation happens.

    No, I have never left my children alone. My husband and I took our children with us, everywhere. There was always time for us when our children were asleep. We were never deprived of any alone time. This family, and all their friends, also left their own children alone so they can dine every night. Bring a Nanny with you to look after the children. I totally get it that they wanted adult time with friends, but not at the risk of leaving your children unattended. You just don't risk it because you don't know whose watching.

    DNA on the boot of sophie was analyzed and found to be a man that is NOT him. Sure, domestic abuser to his wife but unfortunately that was rampant in Ireland in the 90s. To repeatedly bludgen a random womans head in with a rock is an entirely different thing. The man speeding away in the blue ford fiesta at 7:30am away from the direction of Sophie's house that morning could potentially be the match for that DNA? Food for thought, but one thing we can all agree on is it's incredibly botched and biased investigation by the guards.

    'Evidence about whether Ian Bailey knew Sophie'? What's that got to do with it? Was there any evidence he killed her? No. Therefore, he didn't kill her. It's that simple.

    I hooe there is a part 2 , since Bailey is now dead, a lot of questions still left un answered.

    The state prosecutor took a view that the totality of the evidence against Bailey meant that there was no reasonable prospect of a murder conviction. So he binned it. Then a prosecutor in France took a different view. Then…three judges in a Paris court felt that the evidence presented to them justified a conviction. If the judges had felt that there was anything unsatisfactory about the evidence, they would have been reluctant to convict. That is how judges work. Anywhere. One man chose not to prosecute in Ireland, and it is fair to suggest that he got it wrong. It was obviously massively embarrassing for him that the French judicial system decided to run with it.

  • @JackBurton-qp4hc
    @JackBurton-qp4hcАй бұрын

    The French court used Marie Farrell's statement that she had witnessed Bailey following Sophie and then again near the scene. It was a lie, she admits it was a lie and has repeatedly stated it was a lie. That is the difference between Common Law as practised in Ireland, UK, USA etc., and Napoleonic Law in France. In France you can be convicted of murder using nothing more than village gossip, innuendo and of course judges knowingly accepting lies. The bar is low in comparison to Common Law. So that begs the question, why did these judges you speak so highly of use a lie to convict a person of murder? You may also then ask, how did it get to trial in the first place? Why was the French President involved in making it happen? What was the pressure that was put on the Irish government over EU agreements at the time? What involvement did the previous President have, the one that was friends with Sophie's husband? Personally I prefer a system that does not use biased judges put under political pressure to get a conviction by using a known lie. Perhaps your view of the experienced Barristers at the Irish DPP has now changed since they too would have been under enormous pressure to charge but stood their ground in the name of justice when others did not? Hopefully having learnt this you are now outraged, because you should be.

    Had a good education but as a man couldn't live up to it. He had it all but lost it. Went to Ireland working in jobs overqualified for. He was only ever Jules Thomas 's tennant. Intelligent but no common sense. He doesn't like to be told anything either. He liked Ireland and fought so hard to belong he ended up becoming involved in this nightmare. After leaving the UK and journalism he then wanted to get back into it and look what happened. There was no place for him in Ireland. He should have returned home before any of this was allowed to happen. He is no poet. Did they know each other? Who can say? 1996 the world was modern.but I think he and M du Plantier looked at Ireland through rose coloured spectacles. Too much poetry and romance and not realising the world just wasn't like that.
