I strongly disagree Gunner is number one. It’s not even the conversation conversation. He is the best shortstop in the whole league who can hit 40 jacks might even hit 60 every player you just mention Gunter Henderson is better than all of them all of them Henderson is the best player in the league and he’s the best player in sports he’s going to be the reason why the Orioles win so many damn championships I’m sorry he’s number one He’s the best player that you can ever build a team

Coby Mayo was another player like a year ago he got criticized for striking out too much. Now he's a little lower K-rate, but no one cares because he's hitting really well with Avg, Obp, HR, RBI, etc.

My entire family have been unc fans my entire life. Ive been watching the kid for years now. His fielding and baserunning he literally could already be top of the league, and he has so much power at the plate he has maybe the highest ceiling. Its just all about his contact being developed

It's great getting all these game-changing fundamental pieces, it'll be even better if we can keep them in Baltimore. Among the foundational pieces who are the foundations of the foundation? Gunnar? Adley and Holliday? Westerburg,? Basillo? Kjerstad? Mayo? Who do you keep who can you keep after the rookie contracts expire? Who do you move in '24 '25 '26 to get to the World Series? This may be the most difficult and the most fun a general manager has had in Baltimore in decades....

The way Orioles have been leaving people on bases CLUTCH sounds really good right about now In all seriousness, the ability to perform under pressure says a lot about a player's ability to make it to the Major leagues, that is so much of the game is mental.

It’s absurd that they’re not with the big league club right now. I just don’t see how you can make a case for keeping Urias and Mateo over these two guys. I understand we are loaded with talent and don’t have a lot of spot open, but the guys obstructing the path of these two guys are Ramon Urias and Jorge Mateo. And look I love Ramon and Jorge, I have nothing against them, but there’s no way I’d rather see them out there everyday over two guys that have a significant chance of being major pieces in the Orioles future. The gloves and the base speed differences are just not anywhere significant enough to impede the potential impact bats these two would be for us. Not only that, but between them and Kjerstad it keeps Austin Hays out of the starting line ups because, again I love Austin, but he just doesn’t have it this year on an anywhere near consistent basis. He’s hot for 2 or 3 days and then he falls off a cliff, and the fact that he was up with 2 down in the 8th with a runner on a 3rd up by a run trying to avoid a sweep just makes no sense to me right now. There’s also the fact that Norby, Kjerstad, Cowser, Mayo, Holliday(will eventually join the team)and several others all won a championship in AAA last year and I know people shrug it off as nothing, but if you put any weight on a college World Series champion prospect, this is about 6 levels higher in difficulty than that, a single level away from the big leagues. And they did it while the team a level up from them won 101 games. If you don’t put any weight into it, you’re nuts if you think it doesn’t play into the heads of the players at all. And remember, our pitching staff in the show was our weakness, imagine what the AAA pitching was like, these guys scored A LOT of runs. They scored 26 in one game, that type of stuff happens when young kids have chemistry and a couple of them go off and suddenly they all feel invincible and they’re all going off. Why do you think the two highest scoring games for a team this season is the Oakland A’s who did it against the Orioles(19-best staff in the AL at the time)and the Phillies(18-best staff in the NL at the time)? We have to let these kids play together right now, for better or worse right now because after this year it will only get better. They all play together and go deep into the playoffs, they’ll win back to back AL pennants in ‘25 and ‘26, they win the pennant in ‘24 and they will win at least 1 World Series in 25/26. Next year we will have Holliday and Bautista full time, Basallo the following year. No one in baseball is even close to as badly plagued by injury as we are right now, and we have all that coming back along with some absolute super stars coming up from the farm over the next two years. That’s why these guys should be on the big league club now and no one should be acting all crazy about trades when you know what you have right now is going to garner that result if we do nothing in terms of adding to the roster externally. Right now we have super star young talent, over the next couple years a lot of that will be polished big league talent. Gunnar and Adley at a steady 300+ all season, Westburg as well, and probably Holliday too. Kjerstad even higher. Cowser at a solid 275-285, and Norby right there with him. Mayo at 250-265 but crushing 40 minimum. Basallo looks like he will wind up being the best overall hitter on the team, literally, and he will be in his first couple seasons giving you a ton of bottom of the order production. You’re talking about a relentless lineup. Assuming Holliday, Mayo and Basallo are somewhere near as good as they’re expected to be: 1. Holliday 2B L 2. Rutschman DH S 3. Henderson SS L 4. Mayo 1B R 5. Kjerstad LF L 6. Westburg 3B R 7. Cowser CF L 8. Norby RF R 9. Basallo C L - Mayo ahead of Kjerstad to decrease his K rate because he will not be walkable with Heston behind him. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a 1-9 lineup of 25-30 HR power from every spot in the lineup. Right? Am I crazy? As you can see, from the most obvious, shallow level reasons down to the deepest, down the road perspectives, there’s absolutely no logic to having these guys in AAA over 2, really 3, other guys that are currently ahead of them in the big leagues. I can only assume that it’s because you’re allowing them full rookie seasons next year and maintaining their rookie status this season, and hoping they’ll be like late season wildcard surges that other teams won’t be prepared for well enough from a scouting standpoint and you steal a couple real big hits in real key games down the stretch, but I feel like that’s just me reaching for the best option I can come up with that makes this all make sense without any explanation from the organization.

Your thoughts on this: Basallo goes to Norfolk now for the remainder of 2024, gets called up in September with the call ups, he performs moderately will at the plate, but throws out baserunners at a premium rate, he starts with the big league club opening day next year in James McCann’s spot and works his way into being the everyday catcher and Adley is moved to first base over Mountcastle.

Who is your Most Valuable Oriole of the first half? I know a lot of people will say Gunnar for so many obvious reasons, and if not Gunnar likely Corbin, but these are guys that we all had high hopes for going into Spring Training and we are all super grateful because they performed beyond our hopes and expectations. That being said, for me, it’s about a guy that we didn’t even know existed really going into spring training and he didn’t even make the opening day 26 man roster, he started the season with the Tides. Then after a slew of injuries that would have led to a total collapse for most major league clubs, we maintained one of the best records in the AL all first half because of guys like Albert Suarez. With the exception of his last two starts Suarez was pitching to an ERA barely above 2 and with the exception of his first couple starts because Hyde was limiting him to 75 pitches or less, he’s given us 5+ innings almost every time out. If he maintains a pace even close to his first half through the remainder of the season, and he doesn’t win comeback player of the year, it would be absolutely criminal. Not only are we not in 1st place right now, we are more than likely looking up at the Red Sox as well as the Yankees if it weren’t for Albert Suarez. He has been nothing short of a miracle for this team and I’m excited to see what his numbers are like at the end of the season. I’m hoping the O’s are able to sign him in the offseason and run him out of the bullpen when we have a full 5 man rotation because I think he’s going to be an absolutely dominant reliever and I could see him becoming the set up man for Bautista no question. I think this season will translate into significant confidence for him which will translate into bullpen dominance, and give Hyde a 6 out option leading into Bautista, who is also a 6-out capable closer. In October baseball they could turn our games into 5 inning games. How would you feel about turning over a 1 run lead in the 6th inning to Suarez and Bautista? I know I’d be feeling real good, especially if Suarez is getting the benefit of the bottom 2/3rds before turning it over to Felix, but honestly, I’m good with Suarez regardless when he’s only going through a lineup one time. Man is it frustrating that we are missing Bautista, Bradish, Means and Wells, or WHAT?!?! Completely different landscape if we had 1. Burned 2. Bradish 3. Grayson 4. Means 5. Wells and Suarez in the bullpen with Bautista. Gotta figure we would be AT LEAST 25-27 games over .500 right now verus 20, and I don’t know if anyone would be pressing Elias for any kind of trade, especially if Suarez was just as lights out setting up Bautista as he has been as a starter. FRUUUUUUUUUSTRATING! But even more impressed by what the O’s have accomplished this “first half” in spite of those injuries and dealing with poor management. I love Hyde for cursing out Clay Holmes in game 1 and the O’s backing him up in game 3 by cursing out Holmes with the bats, led by Kyle Stowers(Heston’s replacement)with the only “legitimate” basehit of the inning. The baseball Gods WILL BE HEARD!!!
