My name is Miguel and welcome to my channel retro stash repairs. Recently I developed a passion for repairing and fixing retro consoles and electronics. So I decided to share my learning experience and hobby with everyone or anyone who finds similar interest. My content will mostly consist of gameboy related repairs and mods.

Can I pay you to do this for my friends pokewalker?
Absolutely amazing. What a genuinely awesome video. You've got true skills, man.
I memba these.
Some gloves would have been good.
Used this to fix a water damaged PSP 1000. 10/10 thank you so much.
bro that hole you made for the USB C is dogsh!t
I have a GBA SP that works fine except for the fact that once turned on it has a light red background all over the screen. Can it be repaired this way or do you have any other advice?
Can I have yours? U will get my normal one instead.
What is the iron wire name you used to connect them.
Its just bare copper wire I got online "). I believe its 30 or 32 awg
The AGS-101 GBA SP (Backlit model) is the better GBA SP model. Nintendo should have sold the AGS-101 GBA SP as a launch model instead of selling the AGS-001 GBA SP (Original frontlit model) as a launch model in the first place. And by the way, the AGS-101 GBA SP model's colors and editions are graphite, pearl blue, peal pink, SpongeBob, Pikachu, surf blue and platinum silver with tribal tattoos.
Yeah that would of been nice. And Ive never seen a tribal edition in ags 101. And your right, the colors for ags 101 models came in graphite black, pearl pink, and pearl blue. The surf blue, Yellow Pikachu edition and a spongebob one. plus also all the IQue ones which come in almost all the original colors.
I am recently getting into attempting to diagnose these boards. What prompted you to replace this component? Also what was the original issue that had you trouble shooting?
Bravo
That was a damn fine job saving that old friend's life. Excellent video! Subscribed!
Adding onto this! Would love commissions if you offer them, this came out absolutely amazing. Big Pokewalker user here, and would really love my own one of these
Yes I do from time to time, you can message me on instagram. ")
I hope you still respond to comments. Because I have a question. I have 2 GBA SP ags - 101's that I need to replace the shells for because of the dry rot on the hinges. I am worried about buying new shells tho. The reason is simple. I am no sure if there are any important differences in the shells of the AGS 101 and the AGS 001. If there isn't, i'll just buy two shells and replace them. if there is, then i'll need to be cautious when ordering shells.
Damn, I honestly didn’t believe you could actually do such thing, awesome work my man, I respect it
What to do if one line remains?? All others gone but one wont go 😢
what kind of fabric did you use to hide the speakers?
I found this game boy pocket that has a couple of non-working buttons - left direction and A button. Do you know if this can be fixed? Because...I know that for DMG's non-functional left direction and B buttons is a symptom of a shorted IC - and that is beyond repair. Wondering if that's the same case? Thanks!
I mean if you replace the IC with one from a donor board it can be replaced and not beyond repair. And yeah im sure it can. It can also just be dirty pads or broken traces from water damage etc. It can be a certain amount of reasons for them not working.
@@retrostashrepairs Thanks! Will give it a close inspection.
Why does everyone make this look so easy? I'm too dumb for this shit. I'd totally give someone $50 to do this for me lmao.
Lol well with practice bro. Its not easy for anyone first few times. I do accept commissions btw ")
Now don't get me wrong I'm not trying to knock your artistic skills because there are very incredibly awesome and I would much rather this then having one made because it is truly custom your work is awesome but I'm just putting that link out there for who don't have any artistic skills
Take a soldering iron to the flex cable that is on your gameboy to fix the lines You can look up vertical line fix for gameboy on KZread
It looks awesome lit up in the dark😮
Listening to the same 4 bars of a song for 20 minutes. Remove the music
That is nuts!
👍
If you see this 1 years later can you name of that screwdriver at 2:26
I did this but my screen is mirrored and cut off , only showing half of the bottom . Do you know a way to fix this?
Dude, thank you so much. I just finished modding my gc controller mobo and then I broke one of the pads for the cable, and this worked and fixed it!
THE SHELL PAINTING HURT ME-
Test it you don't need the original games just like a Pokemon black 1 or 2 they are way cheaper and in the 3ds there is a way to have D's emulator that supports pasthrough
I have a red gameboy advance ags 001 and i recently bought a broken spongebob limited edition gameboy AGS 101 but i plan to rebuild it as my childhood gameboy which was black
Oh... I thought it would be much easier 😅
This is so cool! My first tamagotchi V4 has the speaker wires missing because i messed with it as a kid :/ From where can i get some wires to get the speakers to work again?? Thanks!
The original never had tamagotchi written on top. Gen 2 did
That's awesome!! What's this pen you use before applying the solder? And what's the tape name please? Thank you!
I have a gba sp platinum onyx limited edition 001 that I absolutely BABIED when I was a kid and that red line appeared out of nowhere while playing zelda a link to the past. Maybe I'll try doing this fix sometime

Hello, good job, I have a gameboy micro with the same problem and I can't find anywhere the alternative points for the d pad, can you help me with the connection diagram of the d pad to the motherboard, which you did since I don't have another gameboy micro to compar
I am working on this same exact repair, if I can figure out the diagram then I will share it.
Why 2 kinds of batteries?
The two 1.5v batteries power the lights and the 9v battery powers the game. In the original 70's game the lights were round, screw in bulbs and a spare was provided in the case.
I have that color at home too. It was the first I got when I started collecting! 😁
That sucks. Amazon said that you just need a screwdriver to replace the cartridge reader. Looks like soldering is indeed involved. Or maybe it's true that GBA doesn't need soldering. But I can't seem to find any videos about how to install that.
I agree with another commenter that I would love to commission for one of these to give my own Pokewalker a new look!
Hello do you know what polarizer should i use for my psp1000. Thank you
There is Wii U has light like yours. it called Wii U Fit meter in 2012.
Excellent work I love it
