Iam late to the party, but this jacket is the BEST in the category, its has everything ! - Best syntethic technology, check. - Best fabric materials, check. - Light for what it is, check. - Big zipper, check. - Dual zipper, check. - Belay button on the bottom of the jacket, check. - Cinch cords everywhere, check. - Hood move with your head, check. - High pockets, check. - Internal Drop pockets, check. Hey! How come the waterproofness/breathability is 20k/20k on this but 10k/35k on the Kinetic 2.0?
It comes down to the fact that it's a Woven face fabric on the Firewall light vs a Knitted Face fabric on the Kinetic 2.0. This has a significant effect on how they both perform hence the differences. They're both great jackets, but if you want something that will move with you whilst offering protection I'd take the kinetic as it has more of a softshell feel but is a hard shell. The Firewall light however has the more traditional hard shell feel to it and will keep you dryer for longer when out on the trail.

I think this, or the Mythic Alpine could become my new "go to" jacket.
The crappy background music and effects destroys the spirit of the video. it totally demeans the life threatening efforts of the climbers by drowning their haunting voices in their stupid effects.
In my experience the pads (from other manufacturers) with that kind of dimples and a 20D fabric tend to get micro leaks at the welds. Those dimples are very comfortable but seem to add a lot of stress on the fabric compared to horizontal of vertical baffles. I like the design to reduce convection heat loss (which makes pads colder than what their R-value suggests). I'd love to tryout the Rab Ultrasphere for my upcoming Alps traverse !
