I rolled a gold SRI 130, hit the footpath then got ejected out the side window fractured 3 vertebrae in my back and 2 vertebrae in my neck and sliced my scalp stitched from one ear to the other. It was a fast car but the car I was in was ropey as hell at speed ah memories 😄

My last job in the military was as Stalwart driver in HQ Coy. MT Third Battalion The Queens Regiment. It was a Mk.2 petrol. I loved the job especially swimming across the river Weser in 1968. Already been across at Hameln in a 432 but the Stalwart was easier to control with propellers. Good times when I was young, and would do it again at the drop of a hat.

Not an Sri, the bottom half of the doors are gunmetal grey on the Sri & 130. I had Sri in red, saloon facelift. Rare cars now.

A Rare sight nowadays. That's not an SRI 130 its an LXI which was a 1.8 injection still fast cars back in the day as they aren't weighed down with all the modern safety kit sadly they suffer with understeer badly. Didn't help he couldn't take the apex due to the oncoming car it would have probably made it. Lesson learned is keep it on the track.

I remember these usually with the drivers door touching the passenger's door a morbid road side death on TV, i seen alot go in fiesta xr2s, we really are fiscal in the UK, I always sorta like the cav i know a bit of a tin can, but nostalgia kicking in i guess nice shape as well.

more corrections The clutch on the Stalwart is only 12 inch because it is a dual plate clutch. Max speed of the stalwart is 43 mph and two different governors would have to be overridden to increase that speed and at great risk of engine failure.

The stalwart got stuck in the muddy water for two reasons. It was operating as a 4x6 and not as a 6x6 as you can see the front wheels are not turning and the hub alignment marks are out of step. The other is the bilge was full of water and the drain bungs not done up.....the vehicle was full of water as the bilge pump can be seen pumping out. To correct the comments of others. The max payload of a Stalwart on land is 5 tonnes. The Stalwart has a autolocking diff unlike the open diff of the Saracen/Saladin.

There is no front diff lock on standard hilux, 4WD was on because front was driving. 😉
