    It was getting around 17mpg on the 35s. We need to get more miles on the 38s to say for sure. It's hard to gauge on such a new build when every tank of fuel includes offroading which dumps the MPG. :)

    You wouldn't want to run 38s long-term without a gear change. 35s are no problem. You notice the 38s on long sustained climbs at freeway speed. The trans temp gets a bit high as well.

    Thanks! We don't have any solid mpg numbers yet. So far we've only been through a couple tanks for fuel and each time those included offroad time so that kills MPG on any rig. We'll report back with an update as we put more miles on it and again when we regear.

    Our normal bumper series allows for a tire carrier on the bumper. It's pretty rare we need a spare around here so for wannabe crawler builds we want max clearance in the rear. We can easily strap down a spare in the cargo area when we think we'll need it. :)

    The T4R is much shorter and lighter so it will generally be better offroad. The Sequoia is more of a family hauler and tow rig yet is no slouch offroad with big tires and decent flex. It does things the T4R can't.

    Here in the middle east (from Dubai) we are getting the Land Cruiser without the hybrid system and we won't be getting the Lexus GX550. My only concern is that installing a 35 inch tires will heavily affect the performance due to the extra weight. Our version of off-roading is based on desert and large sand dunes that require both torque and speed. The car looks sick with 35 inch tires not sure what modification or tunning would be possible to offset the weight of the tires and the wracks.

  • @dissentoffroad
    @dissentoffroad19 күн бұрын

    A good set of aggressive 33" tires with lightweight wheels would probably do great in the dunes, especially with a tune. 35s are probably overkill. In the dunes, horsepower is important so turbo petrol engines are great. Here in the mountains, we need ground clearance and horsepower is less important. We drive offroad at low speeds and low RPM.

    Since the bumper could be detached, wouldn't that just leave more possible error for wobbles? And why is the ice box mounted so high as if it's about to get hard to reach into if you are in smaller height?

  • @dissentoffroad
    @dissentoffroad26 күн бұрын

    We have a great anti-wobble system included with the hitch to minimize wobble. There's a separate video that shows how to set it up. As for the cooler, it is set on our tray accessory. You can put whatever you want up there. It wasn't designed specifically for coolers. As with most offroad accessories, you may need to carry a small step stool to access things that are out of your reach. It's quite common in the overlanding world when you drive lifted vehicles.
