The Evening Woodworker

The Evening Woodworker

My name is Jared. I am an engineer by day and a woodworker by night... usually after the kids are in bed and before the neighbors call the cops!

This channel is about all things woodworking. I do project build videos, how-to videos, shop setup and shop layout videos, tip & tricks, and tool reviews of the stuff I'm using. I will also show you how I organize and work in my small shop in 1 bay of my garage. If you want to improve your woodworking and get inspired with some creative projects and innovative designs, come join me as a fellow evening woodworker and let's go make some sawdust!

Now go build something!

    Dude, Jared, long time man! I saw the thumbnail to your video and was like "that looks like Jared G". Pleasant surprise. Glad to see you are having fun with woodworking and building a good following on YT.

    Love your creative approach. Just not doing things like everyone else. I just did a short on my channel of a Drill Holder and Bits Organizer, all in one and completely modular. Keep up the good work.

    I become a huge fan of self adhesive foam rubber. Its really cheap and u can glue it on the bottom of push sticks for better adhesion. Also make wider push sticks for more pressure and better control. Cheers

    I take it none of this matters in rough construction since stuff is nailed and screwed with no regard for direction of the grain all the time.

  • @EveningWoodworker
    @EveningWoodworker8 күн бұрын

    Usually for rough construction and framing, there's enough slop built in that it doesn't make too much difference; 1/8" gaps are usually fine

    @@EveningWoodworker I was more thinking splits in the wood if the wood was trying to expand and the fasteners were preventing it from doing so.

    You should void using pocket screws as much as possible. Good joints will work better for you in the long run.

  • @EveningWoodworker
    @EveningWoodworker8 күн бұрын

    They have their place, but definitely not a one size fits all. Visually they're boring, so if the joint is visible, definitely use something else!
