0:01 The flames appears on the right booster. The O-Ring fails due to the cold weather and wind shear.

When the engineer says the O ring will not hold the pressure of the solid rock boosters, how much big is the problem. They should have cancelled the launch.

An interview with those who didn’t get the nod would be interesting. Damn, after watching this I wish they would have had a problem free flight.

Ron Dittemore was disingenuous bordering on lying about the fact NASA engineers were worried about the foam strike and wanted on orbit images of the left wing which he through his assistant Linda Ham cancelled. I've never heard a NASA official say there was nothing we could do so much. How about flight maneuvers to decrease the heat the left wing would have during reentry. How about that Ron. The press is also way too soft on NASA officials.

Miles O'Brien in the latest CNN documentary on Columbia upon reflection set aside his kid gloves and actually called out NASA's failings that killed Columbia and its crew. Btw what a way to keep the press off hard questions by all that poor me talk from NASA. You had a job, you used this press conference to begin defending your mistakes...

NASA is not a family! And Dittemore et al are employees not family members. Some like dittemore did their jobs poorly and 7 astronauts died. Stop talking about being a family and do your damn jobs .

Actually during the Challenger disaster Thiokol engineers and NASA execs that forced Challenger's cold weather launch immediately knew what brought Challenger down. Likewise NASA engineers knew immediately the likely cause of Columbia's demise because they had been warned about the problem of left wing foam damage.

It seemed a flame jumped over from the right booster rocket and that set the orbiter to exploded and that in turn set the whole big fuel tank off
